The cabin is thoughtfully designed and equipped with all the essentials to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay.There are two interior options, one with the galley and heads near the cabin entrance and a version with the galley and heads further forward. The second variant has two additional pilot bunks. Both layouts feature a large saloon with the owner's berth near the bow. Since this 54-foot yacht is a semi-customized vessel, the owners can decide on the interior design themselves. By default, the interior is bright white with beautiful mahogany details.

With halyards and the jib sheets running below the deck, the Eagle 54 has an ultra-sleek deck layout. For easy handling, the jib winches are positioned within reach of the helmsman. Just forward of the jib winches, the two halyard winches, which double as gennaker sheet winches. The halyard's tails neatly disappear in the cockpit coaming. A captive winch mounted below deck, allows the mainsheet to be trimmed with the push of a button. Also the powered headsail furler is mounted below deck. The standard rigging features a carbon mast and boom. The boomvang and backstay are easily controlled from the helm on the hydraulic panel.

Eagle 54 – an immaculately clean-decked daysailer from Hoek and Dutch builder Leonardo Yachts

These photos of the André Hoek-designed Eagle 54 from the Netherlands show off her clean lines and luxury fittings, says Toby Hodges

Leonardo Yachts’ co-founder Melle Boersma sent us these first sailing pictures of their new Eagle 54. When I first saw them I presumed they were computer-enhanced renderings, but no, she really is that immaculately clean.

Running rigging and in-boom furling lines are all led back to the helm, cleverly hidden within the deck, with tail stowage in the coamings. There are hydraulic controls for vang and backstay tension, even for the jib car positioning, all operable from the helm.

The 54 joins Dutch-based Leonardo Yachts’ growing range of luxury daysailers, which includes a 36 and 44 designed by Dykstra Naval Architects. Take a peek at the dimensions or accommodation plan for the Eagle and you quickly understand the ethos of the boat.

She gives away 20ft alone in overhangs – now that’s luxury! The Eagle’s lines perhaps reflect how much time Hoek has spent working on J Class yachts recently.

Where the Eagle differs from a J, however, is that she promises to be a delight on the wheel, thanks to her combination of modern build and appendages. Her composite construction, with foam-cored epoxy hull and deck, results in an extremely light displacement of just nine tonnes. Moreover, her thin-chord T-keel and high-aspect fin rudder should make her highly responsive to helm, especially when heeled and sliding through flat water.

The long, deep cockpit is obviously the place to enjoy the sailing, but the 54 also has an inviting saloon and accommodation, tastefully finished in varnished mahogany. She is offered with two or four berths in a large owner’s cabin and two pilotberths.

The yacht has been designed with shorthanded cruising in mind. With halyards and the jib sheets running below the teak deck the Eagle 54 will have an ultra sleek deck layout. For ease of handling the jib winches are positioned within reach of the helmsman. The standard rigging is in carbon with an inboom furling mainsail.  An extensive hydraulic package will allow you to adjust the jib halyard tension, jib car position, vang and back-stay position all from the helm.

Sailing an Eagle should be uncomplicated fun. And with her only 9 tons displacement the Eagle 54 will turn heads not only by looking beautiful but also because of her sailing characteristics.

There are two interior options, one with the galley and the heads located near the cabin entrance and the other with the heads and galley located more forward. This second layout features two additional pilot berths. Both layouts feature a grand saloon with the owners berth located near the bow. As the 54 will be a semi custom boat owners can decide upon the interior styling. Standard the interior is bright white with beautiful crafted teak joinery details.

The blossoming of the ‘modern classic’ has certainly lead to a certain beautifying of our marinas and there is something about all those flowing lines and long overhangs that just can’t fail to seduce.

The deck layout is ultra sleek, with all lines tucked discreetly out of sight in channels below the teak deck. Despite her purposeful looks and generous sail area, her builders maintain that she is optimised for singlehanding.

54' Eagle 54 For Sale

We are proud to be involved in a new composite production yacht for Leonardo Yachts in the Netherlands. A 54 ft design was developed based on the experiences that Hoek Design has gained with the many Truly Classic designs. While this yacht is quite capable of coastal and offshore cruising her forte is as an easy to handle daysailer.  This new 54 footer can be built with different interior layouts and will have a composite hull and sheltered aft cockpit, a concept we developed in close cooperation with the yard.  Her classic looks, typified by her long overhangs, clean deck and low-line coachroof, epitomise the Hoek daysailer philosophy and under the water her deep, T-style fin and bulb keel and balanced rudder provide her with a performance second to none. Construction started in early 2014 and the first yacht is delivered in the spring of 2015. Following reports that the first Eagle 54 has proved to be an excellent sailing boat, the second yacht is now being built in The Netherlands.
