One of the premier yacht clubs in the world, the Royal Motor Yacht Club is a private Members' Club with over 100 years of history and tradition. Situated within the beautiful Sandbanks Peninsula, the Club offers excellent facilities with magnificent views overlooking Poole Harbour and Brownsea Castle.

RM motor boat racing in Poole Quay near Florinda & 1938 RMYC clubhouse and Boat shed and Yard. A considerable number of members' boats were requisitioned for war work, including Sir Tommy Sopwith's huge motor yacht "Philante". Many boats from the Harbour, including 13 from the Club, were used in the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk.

In 1948/49 a meeting was called in TMCC headquarters, inviting the other non-tidal clubs (Upper Thames Yacht Club and the British Motor Yacht Club) and they formed the Association of Thames Motor Boat Clubs (now known as the ATYC). In January 1969, it was resolved to change the Club name to the Thames Motor Yacht Club.

The River Club (BMYC), on Albany Reach at Thames Ditton, has an illustrious history and has been enjoyed by its members since 1936. Our members have a wide and varied range of water based craft; such as small motor boats, canoes, kayaks, sailing dinghies, paddle boards, rowing boats, inflatables etc…. all of which are stored out of the water.
