Croatia Island Hopping Tour
8 Days / 7 Nights
Croatia Cruise in Style with Family and Friends
Join Ker & Downey on an exclusive Luxury Croatia Island Hopping Tour. Discover Croatian hidden gems via a weeklong luxury yacht charter in Croatia through the Dalmatian Islands. From Brač to Mljet, there is simply nothing like exploring Croatia by private yacht with the ones you love.
First begin your luxury yacht charter in Croatia on Brač island, the biggest island in Dalmatia. You will dock near the Golden Horn Beach in Bol, perhaps the best known and most beautiful beach in Croatia. After a celebratory first dinner with the crew, spend the next day exploring the island by e-bike. Climb your way to the top of the Vidova Gora mountain, the highest peak of the Adriatic Sea. Indeed, it offers not only the best views over the island and the Adriatic Sea, but also beautiful nature and a great biking trail sheltered by black pines. The day then ends with a private olive oil tasting experience.
Next, continue your Croatia island hopping tour on Hvar, an ancient town with a rich history on the island with the same name. Begin your explorations by hiking up to Fortica fortress for stunning views over the city. Mingle in the town center and discover one of the most beautiful squares in Dalmatia: St. Stephen’s Square. A visit to Hvar would not be complete without a wine tour. Therefore, embark on a private half-day tour through the centuries-old vineyards on the island. Along the way, pass through the old villages of Brusje and Velo Grablje as well as many lavender fields. In Jelsa, stop at the Duboković winery for a taste of Croatian wine Medvid, local cheese, and homemade bread in the winemakers’ family house. You’ll also be able to enjoy the family’s own flavored olive oils.
After 1945, Vis Island became a major military base for the Yugoslav army. As such, there are more than 30 military sites around the island. Find out why Vis was called the “key of the Adriatic” on a private jeep tour. After departing from Vis Town, visit Tito’s cave, the island’s highest peak at Hum, the former air force airport, and the cricket field in Pliskopoje. You will also stop at the George III fort, the former military base of Parja, and the submarine tunnel “Jastog” (Lobster).
Korčula Island is undoubtedly an essential stop on any Croatia island hopping tour. While here, explore the island with a private guide on a half-day tour. Indeed, your first stop comes after no more than five minutes at one of the region’s top honey producers. Here you will learn how honey gets from the beehives to jars, followed by honey tasting. Then head to Lumbarda to taste one of Korčula’s most famous products: wine. The winery you will visit produces the acclaimed and little known (outside of Croatia) white wine, Grk. Hosted at the home of your jovial hosts, you will have the chance to pair your wine tasting with an array of tasty homemade Dalmatian snacks. Later, head to a local restaurant for dinner where you will learn how to prepare the traditional local dish ‘peka.’
Your private yacht will then whisk you away to the most beautiful and most forested island in the Adriatic: Mljet Island. This is an island of untouched nature, olive groves, vineyards, rich forests, and diverse flora and fauna. Enjoy the pristine beauty of the natural surroundings on a private e-biking tour of Mljet National Park. Indeed, e-bikes are the best way to explore the island, as only bikes are allowed around the lakes.
Finally, your luxury yacht charter in Croatia will anchor in Dubrovnik on your final day. For a completely different experience, we recommend embarking on private buggy safari outside the city. Your buggy safari will take you through some fantastic landscapes, cruising through pristine countryside, pine forests, and rural settlements. Halfway through, stop in Čilipi to visit some of the town’s monuments. Then continue riding over green hills and climbing the highest peaks of Konavle’s rocky coastline while marveling at the amazing Adriatic Sea on one side and the mountains on the other. Upon your return, recover from this exciting trip with fresh fruits and drinks. Your final farewell is one to remember: a private dinner within the walls of Dubrovnik. This is an exclusive experience that allows you and your loved ones to have the walls of Dubrovnik all to yourselves. It will no doubt be a dinner that will remain as one of the warmest memories in your life.

Dalmatian Islands (Hvar, Pakleni Islands, Mljet, Trogir, Vis, Korčula, Brač) Best for : Picturesque harbours, secluded coves and golden beaches, crystal clear waters, lush National parks, historic monuments, scuba diving, windsurfing, watersports, hiking, wine tasting and olive groves
Far North - Istria Region (Pula, Kornati Archipelago) Best for : Sandy beaches, sheltered waters, variety of anchorages, museums, Roman ruins, swimming and snorkelling
Dalmatia Region
This is one of the most popular regions for yacht charters in Croatia. Located on the southern coast, its made up of 233 miles of coastline, islands, and reefs, and includes the must-see historic towns of Split and Dubrovnik , as well as hundreds of stunning verdant islands and national parks.
Croatia's second-largest city – its "crown jewel', Split has a history dating back to the 4th century. It is also home to the beautiful Roman Diocletian's Palace , a top recommended destination for your tour.
Split also boasts some of Croatia's largest marinas, and is within shooting distance of the celebrated islands of Korčula , Hvar , Vis, and Brač . Visit the world-famous Zlatni Rat beach on Brač's southern side, or sample the vibrant nightlife and clubbing scene on Hvar, which also plays host to several regattas over the summer season. Further south is Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site of huge architectural prominence.
Istria Region
Located in the north of Croatia, this region has a distinctly Italian feel to it, and has plenty of fantastic places to visit. Pula, the region's capital, is crammed with museums, which isn't surprising given its history that dates back to 3,000BC.
Across the water, lies the Brijuni National Park , a group of 14 small picturesque islands easily accesible from the mainland. Slightly to the north, the beautiful old fishing port of Rovinj is also well-worth a visit, with its steep cobbled streets and charming piazzas.
Travel south to historic Zadar , where you can enjoy a quiet walk along marbled streets and pine-scented beaches. Further south you will find the Kornati archipelago , a group of 100 or so relatively barren islands and reefs which are perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Croatia’s stunning coastline and idyllic verdant islands have made it one of the most popular regions for Mediterranean yacht charters . To truly experience the magic of this country, here are our tips on the places you must check out when you charter a yacht in Croatia.

- Game of Thrones tour - through parts of Old Town, Dubrovnik where some of the most memorable scenes were filmed.
- Dubrovnik Summer Festival - see dramas, plays, classical music concerts and much more.
- 360˚ Dubrovnik - Michelin-starred restaurant built into the walls of the old town, with exquisite views over the harbour.
- Diocletian’s Palace - UNESCO site within the walls of Split’s historic and thriving town.
- Franciscan Monastery - Visit Hvar’s 15th-century monastery and museum that overlooks a shady cove, and meander charming gardens that feature a 300-year old cypress tree.
- Plitvice Lakes National Park - one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia.
- Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) - located on the southern coast of Brač, regularly listed as one of the top beaches in Europe.
- Blue Grotto, Bisevo - situated in the central Dalmatian archipelago, this waterlogged sea cave has an intriguing glowing blue light that appears at certain times of the day.
- Pula Arena - one of the world’s six largest Roman amphitheatres, and certainly it’s most well-preserved.
- Visovac Monastery - situated on a tiny island in the Krka National Park.
- Mljet National Park tour - takes guests to the area of the first protected ecosystem in the Adriatic.
Avid island-hoppers seeking solitude love a Croatia yacht charter itinerary. Of approximately 1,185 islands just 66 are inhabited, making the unfettered beauty of its isles, inlets and bays ripe for exploration. Among these wonderful islands to explore are the verdant gems of Hvar , Vis, Korčula , and Brač.
But yacht rentals in Croatia are also ideal for guests seeking impressive designer shopping, exquisite wineries and glittering nightlife in its main cities.
Culminating from Illyrian, Roman, Venetian, Christian, and Austrian empires all competing for Croatia’s ownership, Croatia is home to an astoundingly rich cultural heritage. This makes for a fabulous yacht charter: from the Venetian palaces and designer boutiques of the jet-set haven of Hvar; to the Benedictine beauty of the UNESCO-listed walled city of Dubrovnik; to the Italian infused architecture and cosmopolitan ambiance of Pula and beyond.
As one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters in the East Mediterranean , there should be plenty to choose from when it comes to luxury yachts for charter in Croatia. If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your Croatian getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.
Motor Yacht Charters in Croatia
Whether you are interested in a small or large motor yacht, or somewhere in between, you should find a Croatia luxury charter that will more than meet your expectations. With a luxury motor yacht you can truly relax; soaking up the stunning scenery, or scuba diving reefs and wrecks under clear aqua waters, or taking a tender ashore to explore ancient Roman palaces and monasteries, as well as sampling the local cuisine and wines.
You should note that berth/slip options in Croatia for larger yachts (over 50m) are limited, however, with plenty of safe and tranquil anchorage spots to choose from amongst the numerous islands, islets, and reefs around this Adriatic hotspot you will be spoilt for choice.
Sailing Yacht Charters in Croatia
The Adriatic enjoys an average of 315 cloudless days a year, and with winds in Croatia generally around 10-20 knots, this can make chartering a sailing yacht a great option to explore the picturesque islands and secluded beaches at your leisure. The winds do tend to get stronger in the fall, so bear this in mind when booking your charter.
There should be ample sailing yachts, gulets (traditional wooden yachts), and catamarans for charter in Croatia, but we do recommend booking early to secure your perfect yacht and desired itinerary.
Gulet Charters in Croatia
Gulets are traditional wooden boats originating from Turkey , but are now widely available throughout Croatia and Greece . These types of boats offer a fantastic and cost-effective alternative to a luxury charter yacht, for those wishing to spend a bit less but still enjoy a fabulous yacht charter in the Mediterranean .
With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget in Croatia. The average prices for motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Croatia are as follows;
- For motor yacht rentals in Croatia, prices can range from $32,000 to $1,8m per week plus expenses
- For luxury sailing yacht rentals in Croatia, prices can go from $32,363 to $582,882 weekly plus expenses
The optimal times for yacht charters in Croatia’s sapphire-hued waters span from May till October. During this time, you can benefit from calmer seas, reliably clement weather, and warm swimming temperatures. Croatia’s peak season is July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and packed marinas in these months.
related articles
There are a variety of options, although most yachts charters tend to begin in Dubrovnik or Split in the Dalmatia region, both of which have major international transport links. Another popular option is to set off from Italy or Montenegro and then cruise the Adriatic down towards the Kornati a rchipelago or along the Dalmatia region – encompassing 233 miles of coastline stretching from Krk to Lastovo .
Croatia has numerous must-see destinations and you will be hard-pushed to fit them all in. For itineraries along the southern Dalmatian coast, some yachts may spend a day in port in Dubrovnik – ‘the pearl of the Adriatic’ – before setting off for the picturesque surrounding archipelagos, which include the popular island destinations of Hvar , Mljet, Vis, and Brač . You can either finish your yacht charter back in Dubrovnik or continue on to finish up in Split – the cultural and economic center of Dalmatia.
For yacht charters in the north of Croatia, many like to begin in Venice or Bari, located in Italy’s Puglia (or Apulia) region, before crossing the Adriatic to Croatia's Istria region. From here you can explore the popular island of Pula , with its world-class Roman amphitheater, before cruising down towards Zadar and the Kornati National Park .
Alternatively, you can begin in Porto Montenegro – only an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik – although you may have to cover the cost of repositioning as many luxury charter yachts in Croatia are based in Split.
It’s simple enough to begin your superyacht vacation in a neighboring country before heading to Croatia. For more advice please speak to your yacht charter broker .
sample itineraries
We recommend finishing your luxury charter in Split, Croatia's second-largest city and one of the most popular superyacht hotspots on the Adriatic. Renowned for its pristine beaches and crystalline waters, plus with a vibrant mix of things to see and do, you'll be in for a treat.
There are hundreds of harbors, marinas, and ports in Croatia, so whether stopping off in Dubrovnik or sailing to the far side of the Lastovo Archipelago National Park there are sure to be facilities or an anchorage to suit your needs.
There are 56 official marinas along the Croatian coast from Umag to Dubrovnik. Some of out top picks include;
- ACI Marina Dubrovnik – located within a short distance to Dubrovnik’s historic old town. It has 380 slips and can accommodate yachts up to 60m/196ft. For larger yachts, or yachts not requiring a slip, another popular option is to utilize the international cruise ship terminal quay, which is happy to facilitate yacht charter pick-ups and drop-offs.
- ACI Marina Korčula – ideal for a stop off at one of the many island destinations on your yacht charter, we recommend this sheltered marine, which accommodates yachts up to a maximum LOA of 40m/131ft.
- Lumbarda Marina – also on Korčula this marina has slips catering to yachts up to a max length of 25m/82ft.
- ACI Marina Vrboska – located in the celebrated islnad of Hvar, this marina offers berths for yachts up to a max length of 30m/98ft.
- Cavtat Marina – If you're struggling to find a slip in the summer, we recommend this marina, which is located to the south of Dubrovnik and enjoys good shelter from all winds. It offers 119 slips for yachts up to a max LOA of 60m/197ft.
Some of the best ports in Croatia are also located in the Istria region in northern Croatia. We recommend;
- D-Marin Dalmacija – located a few kilometers south of the ancient city of Zadar, which is the largest marina in Croatia with 1,200 berths and can accommodate yachts up to 80m LOA.
- ACI Marina Rovinj – catering for yachts with a LOA of up to 25m/82ft
- Marina Funtana – max length 20m/65ft.
For larger berths in the Split-Dalmatia region:
- ACI Marina Split – located in the heart of Croatia's "jewel" this marina has recently been modernised, offering great shopping, dining, fuelling and repair services to name but a few, alongside 318 protected berths that can accommodate superyachts up to 90m LOA.
- Marina Kastela – just 7km up the coast from Split – which can accommodate superyachts of up 150m/492ft in length, with a draft of 8m.
- D-Marin Mandalina – located in the city of Šibenik, situated between two National Parks within a protected lagoon, this marina boasts 429 slips, and has also been specially developed to accommodate yachts of up to 140m/459ft LOA.
With its rich cultural and architectural history, along with lush national parks and secluded beaches, Croatia is fast becoming one of our most popular destinations. Therefore, we advise you to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to secure your perfect yacht on your preferred dates.
If you leave it too late, the selection of yachts at your disposal will be reduced and you may not be able to explore the destinations you have your heart set on. Plus, finding dates when everyone in your charter party is available can be tricky; the longer you leave it, the more challenging it will be.
Your yacht charter broker will also need plenty of time to tailor an itinerary to suit you, and enough time to book ahead for the nights you wish to spend in marinas. We recommend booking up to 3 months in advance to give your broker the optimum time to organise everything down to the last detail.

Croatia Yacht Charter Q&A
Some important things to consider before booking your yacht;
- Yachts tend to spend more time at anchor in Croatia, so you need to consider that when choosing your perfect yacht. Ideally, find a yacht that is comfortable with ample leisure and entertainment facilities onboard.
- Avoid heading into Dubrovnik when the big cruise ships are in town, these vessels can hold some 3,000 passengers and the town can become uncomfortably crowded.
- You should also be aware that certain zones in Croatia's waters forbid fishing or diving, or require special permissions to do so. This is something you can discuss with your yacht broker, or yacht captain when deciding on your itinerary.
There should be a wide selection of yachts to choose from, so there is sure to be something that suits both you and your budget.
Croatian Gulets, traditional wooden yachts with wide beams that offer spacious deck areas and generous accommodation, are a fantastic and cost-effective alternative to a luxury charter yacht. Gulets are available to charter for around €13,500-€15,000 per week, which usually includes food and up to 4 hours cruising per day.
Gulets are also perfect for family charters, or those who simply enjoy spending their time out on deck soaking up the beautiful surroundings of this stunning region.
Why not visit our yacht charter fleet page for a comprehensive look at all yachts available for charter around Croatia.
Alternatively, you can reach out to your preferred yacht broker , who will be sure to help you find your perfect yacht and itinerary around the dates that suit both you and your guests.
The perfect time for yacht charters in Croatia is between May to October, with average temperatures in the mid to high 20s, calm sapphire seas and endless days of glorious sunshine.
You should note that Croatia's peak season is in July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and crowded marinas during these months.
Most charters tend to begin in the beautiful historic towns of Dubrovnik or Split before continuing on to the celebrated islands of Hvar, Mljet, Vis and Brač. Alternatively, you can begin in Montenegro in the south, but you should note there may be additional re-positioning fees to pay as most yachts are based out of Split.
Another option is to begin your yacht charter in Venice, Italy then cross the Adriatic to Croatia's breathtaking northern region before cruising down the coast to Zadar or Split.
Once you have decided on your perfect yacht, your yacht broker will then draw up the necessary contract; a legally binding agreement between you and the owner of the yacht. At this point, based on the type of contract, you will be required to pay 50% of the cost of the yacht up front, with an additional 25-30% of this base rate to cover additional expenses you and your guests are expected to incur whilst on charter.
For more information about the costs of chartering a yacht, please read our helpful guide: Yacht Charter Costs Explained , which describes the fee structure in more detail.

Why go to Croatia’s coast
Croatia’s coast is its biggest drawcard. Its stunning medieval coastal cities like Dubrovnik and countless islands surrounded by clear blue water, make it the ultimate European summer escape. Croatia’s coast sees millions of tourists every year, with Dubrovnik, Split, and islands like Hvar soaring in popularity in recent years.
However, despite the crowds, Croatia’s coastline is still worth a visit, especially if you plan on taking a sailing trip. Most people can’t help but fall in love with the Croatian coast after exploring some of its Adriatic islands.
How to island-hop in Croatia
Depending on your budget, travel style and time constraints, there’s an island-hopping Croatia itinerary and mode of transport for everyone. From the local ferry system to chartering a private boat, you can tailor a Croatian island hopping holiday to suit your own style and needs.
The ferry system in Croatia is surprisingly easy to navigate and quite affordable. You can buy tickets as foot passengers or it’s also possible to take a car with you to some of the islands. Travelling by one of the car ferries is a particularly good idea if you’ve rented a car in Croatia and plan on visiting the larger islands.
The ferries are generally very comfortable, with free Wi-Fi, a bar and even a restaurant available on larger services. Ferry services double and even triple from June until the end of August to cater for the greater demand in the summer. You can even purchase tickets on the same day that you plan on traveling, but it’s best to check schedules and routes on companies’ websites beforehand. Jadrolinija is one of the most popular and larger companies servicing the Croatian islands, but there are many other options too.
Croatia island hopping tours are extremely popular. They generally follow a standard island-hopping itinerary starting in Split , although there are also options starting in Dubrovnik. The most popular trips are generally a 7-day Croatian island hopping tour that stops in popular islands like Hvar and Korcula. But there are also alternative tours available stopping in lesser-known spots with up to 2 weeks of sailing time if you prefer.
Deciding on a Croatia island tour really depends on your budget as well as your travel style.
There are catamaran or yacht cruises that cater to a younger, backpacking crowd and are usually more party tours for people aged up to 35. Medsailors and Contiki are some of the most popular Croatia sailing companies that offer these types of tours.
There are also mid-sized cruises and catamarans that can cater to all different travelers. Companies often match like-minded people in the same tour groups and have designated tour itineraries catering to different travel styles and budgets. Sail Croatia is one of the most popular Croatia island hopping tour operators and they have a variety of options.
Rent or charter your own boat
If you’d prefer to have more control over your Croatian island tour, then you can rent or charter your own boat. There is a range of different options from small to large sailboats, catamarans, and yachts. You can also choose to either have a captain and crew or not, depending on your sailing experience.
Prices can vary depending on the boat and whether you decide to have a crew. Most prices are also quoted just for the boat, and you have to ensure you factor in food, port fees, and captain and crew tips.
Best time to go
The best time to island hop in Croatia is in the warmer summer months. Although you can technically visit the coastline all year round, it’s only between May and September that the sea warms up and the ferry services are more frequent.
The most popular months to visit the islands of Croatia are July and August. This is the typical high season, meaning it can be an extremely busy and crowded time. If you prefer to avoid the crowds, it’s best to visit either side of these months such as in June or September.
Many restaurants, bars, and clubs on islands in Croatia do close past September, so we do not recommend an island hopper trip in the fall.
Best Islands in Croatia
It’s hard to decide on the best islands to visit in Croatia. There are over 1200 to choose from. However, there are certainly more popular islands such as Hvar and Brac, with many of the Croatia island tours heading to the same few places. However, these Croatian Islands are popular for good reason, as they are generally some of the most lively and beautiful of the islands.
There are also some lesser-known spots that are worth your time if you have a flexible itinerary.
These are the best Croatian islands to visit
Brac is the third largest of Croatia’s islands and a popular day trip destination from Split. It’s a great idea to hire a car or scooter on Brac, as it makes it easier to move around and explore the sights. Although it’s close to the mainland, it still feels less tourist-oriented than Hvar and makes for a nice alternative for a day trip or the first stop on your Split to Dubrovnik island hopping trip.
Main attractions on the island:
- Visit the famous Zlatni Rat Beach known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia
- On the other side of the island, explore Pucisca , a beautiful coastal village
- The main town of Bol is worth your time with some of the best restaurants on the island
The magical island of Mljet is not far off the coast of Dubrovnik and is best known for its natural beauty. A large part of the island is made up of the Mljet National Park, which has plenty of trails that you can walk and cycle along. It’s often visited as a day trip from Dubrovnik or a brief stop on the island-hopping Croatia route.
- Hike down to the Odysseus Cave , an incredibly beautiful spot and one of our favorite things to do in Croatia
- Visit the Veliko and Malo Jezero salt lakes , one of which has a 12th-century monastery in the middle
Korcula is one of the larger islands in Croatia. However, it’s more relaxed and feels much less crowded than the more popular Hvar and Brac. It’s often one of the people’s favourite islands, with its charming old town and laid-back attitude. It’s famous for being the birthplace of Marco Polo, although the evidence of this is very questionable!
- Explore the historic Old Town on the northeastern tip of the island
- Pupnatska Luka is widely considered the best beach on the island located on the south side
- Known for its quality white wine, it’s worth taking a wine tour or at least visiting some local wineries to sample the region’s best
Hvar is one of the most popular and well-known islands of the Adriatic Sea. Despite its popularity, you should still add Hvar Island to any Croatia island-hop itinerary. It’s a large island with a number of towns to explore, nearby islands to visit, beautiful beaches, and very lively nightlife.
- Hang out in Hvar Town , the main town on the island and the most fun place to be at night
- Hvar fortress is a must-visit with incredible views over the town and sea
- Visit the beaches of Dubovica and Pokonji Dol , both a short distance from Hvar Town
- Take a day to explore the Pakleni Islands , a short water taxi away from Hvar Island

Vis has a much more remote vibe and is a great island to visit on your Croatian island tour. It’s the farthest inhabited island from the mainland and was closed to tourists until 1989, as it was used as a former Yugoslav military base. Vis Island is far less developed than some of the other built-up islands, but this is kind of its charm.
- Stay the night in the charming fishing village of Komiza
- Visit Stiniva Beach , regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Europe
- Take a trip to the Green and Blue sea caves off the coast of Vis
Pag is one of the largest inhabited islands in Croatia and is accessible by a motorable bridge. This makes it a popular place to visit on a day trip. It’s located north of Zadar and can be reached by less than an hour’s drive from the city. The island is most famous for its party and nightlife and there are often festivals taking place on the island in summer.
- Zrce Beach is the best-known party beach and often hosts summer festivals
- The main town also known as Pag is worth spending some time in for its delicious food
Rab is located just north of Pag Island and is just a short ferry ride across the water. It is known for its sandy beaches and pine forests in the southwest, which are contrasted by the windswept and barren northeast coast. Although it still sees a number of visitors in summer, exploring the island still feels like a real discovery.
- Rajska Beach is considered the nicest beach on the island
- Check out the Old Town which is dominated by four church bell towers high above the roofline
Krk is the largest Croatian island located in the northern Adriatic Sea. It’s also one of the most accessible with a toll bridge connecting it to the mainland. In summer, it’s often extremely busy with Europeans, as it’s the first island when approaching from central Europe. It’s not known for its stunning beauty, but its landscape is quite varied and there are numerous picturesque towns to visit.
- Vrbnik is a charming village on the opposite coast to Krk town that is far less quieter than others
- The main town of Krk has incredible architectural wonders such as the 5th-century cathedral and the Frankopan Castle
- The southeastern side of the island toward Stara Baska is far less visited and is blessed with rugged terrain but incredibly beautiful beaches
Lokrum
Located a short ferry ride from Dubrovnik, Lokrum Island is perfect as a final stop on your island hopping tour, or as a destination for a day trip from the mainland. It’s one of Croatia’s uninhabited islands and is a designated nature reserve. So, there aren’t many amenities but there’s plenty to do and see.
- The Dead Sea is a small, shallow saltwater lake that is open to swimmers
- Benedictine monastery ruins and a historic palace are highlights for history buffs, and their botanical gardens are gorgeous
- Game of Thrones fans will appreciate the Iron Throne replica, located in Lokrum’s visitor’s center. Visitors can take photos on the throne and learn about filming that took place on the island.

Other stops:
Dubrovnik is considered the pearl of the Adriatic in the far south of Croatia. Despite being surrounded by a lot of hype, it’s one place that does live up to its reputation. This medieval-style walled city has become famous for being used as a set for some episodes of Game of Thrones and it sees million visitors every year. However, the incredibly picturesque city is worth some of your time, despite the crowds. The UNESCO-listed Old Town is full of beautiful architecture and the view from the city walls is some of the best you’ll find on the Croatian mainland.
Island hopping from Dubrovnik is an alternative option to the common Croatia island-hopping route. Otherwise, most island-hopping tours end in Dubrovnik.
Split is the second-largest city in Croatia and the largest on the Dalmatia Coast. Most people start their Croatia island hopping cruise or tour from Split. However, it’s worth sticking around and spending time in the city itself with plenty to explore. It’s home to the incredibly beautiful Diocletian Palace , one of the most complete architectural wonders in the country. It was by far one of our favourite things to do in Croatia .
Sibenik is a beautiful coastal city just 1.5 hours north of Split. It’s the third-largest city along the coast and yet it remains fairly unknown amongst most travelers. Sibenik is the main gateway for the Krka National Park , but it’s worth spending some time in the city if you can. Its biggest attraction is the Cathedral of St James , a UNESCO World Heritage Listed site.
Zadar, like the other Dalmatian cities, is known for its spectacular old town and city walls with a number of ruins and original architecture dating back to the 9th century. However, Zadar is far less popular than Dubrovnik and Split. It can be a great place to explore away from the crowds.
It’s a good alternative base to start your island-hopping, with great ferry connections to the islands around the central coastal area.

We heard that the Istria region has very unique and delicious cuisine but unfortunately, we did not get to visit that part of Croatia on our trip. So we can’t deny or confirm the rumour. We’ll have to travel there to find out!

Arrive in Dubrovnik, the renowned ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, this afternoon and be transferred to your floating home for the next 13 nights, the cruising yacht MV Lady Eleganza. Designed and built in Croatia for the Adriatic Coast, it is perfect for nestling into the region's small harbours and sheltered coves.
Stay: 13 nights, MV Lady Eleganza
Dubrovnik, Kotor
Explore Dubrovnik's World Heritage-listed Old Town in the morning. Wander past the palaces, monasteries and churches all enclosed within the medieval city walls. Later, you weigh anchor and enjoy views of the memorable setting as you sail towards Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor. Sailing into the bay, framed by sheer cliffs that hug the walled town of Kotor , is a highlight.
Relish a walking tour of Kotor’s Old Town before enjoying time at leisure. Those feeling energetic may like to climb the 1,350 steps to the top of the town’s fortifications, or alternatively, you can delve into history at the Maritime Museum.
Kotor, Sipan
Set sail for the Elaphiti Islands off the coast. This small cluster of islands offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the more populated destinations along the Croatian coast. En route to Sipan, stop for a swim from the yacht's stern platform (weather permitting). Later set sail for Sipan, where you’ll enjoy free time to explore before dinner.
Sipan, Korcula
Witness an exclusive Moreska performance. This traditional sword dance dates back centuries and involves two groups of dancers representing opposing kingdoms engaging in battle to win over the heart of the King's fiance.
Enjoy postcard-perfect island views as you stop for a swim near Mijet. Later, arrive in Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Here, stroll along medieval streets which are flanked by palaces and take in a special Signature Experience. Your yacht will dock here overnight.
Korcula, Opuzen, Mostar
The picturesque town of Opuzen lies upstream on the Neretva River. After lunch, travel by coach over the border to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. See the World Heritage-listed Stari Most (Old Bridge), which arches high above the Neretva. Learn about the history of the bridge on a walking tour, as well as Mostar's other fascinating sites. Dinner will be in a local restaurant with traditional entertainment.
Bol, Makarska
The morning kicks off with a cruise to the island of Brac. Make a beeline for the town of Bol, home to the Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape). This beach is made up of tiny white pebbles that shift with the vagaries of the wind and waves, and meets the sea like a spearhead. During your time here, you might like the chance to take a dip or explore the town, which is known for its 15th-century Dominican monastery and museum. Later cruise to Makarska, where your yacht will dock overnight.
Makasrska, Split
This morning your yacht will sail to Split. On arrival, board small boats for an excursion along the emerald green Cetina River. Head towards Radmanove Mlinice (Radman's Mills). The stone mill was established in 1772 to grind cereal for the people of Omis.
Split, Sibenik, Radosic
At the village of Radosic, be welcomed with local brandy and doughnuts and enjoy traditional entertainment before a meal of regional specialties.
Take a guided tour of historic Split and its Roman-era landmarks. Travel by coach to Radosic for a Signature Experience before rejoining your yacht, which is now docked in Sibenik.
Sibenik, Krka National Park, Zadar
Today, visit the spectacular Krka National Park. Spend the morning strolling along boardwalks to view Krka's famous waterfalls. The most memorable is Skradinski Buk, which is made up of scores of separate cascades. Afterwards, Lady Eleganza sails to Zadar. Located on a small peninsula, Zadar retains an impressive core of Roman ruins as well as some surprising modern touches. Your yacht will remain docked here overnight.
Zadar, Mali Losinj
Relax as your yacht sails towards Losinj island. Take a walking tour of the main town, Mali Losinj, and admire the pastel-coloured villas along the waterfront. You also have the opportunity to experience local life and visit a buzzing cafe or tavern after your dinner on board.
Mali Losinj, Pula
This morning, Lady Eleganza charts a course for Pula. Located on the tip of the Istrian Peninsula, Pula is a treasure trove of Roman ruins. Later this afternoon, visit the remarkably preserved Arena. Built in the first century AD, it housed up to 23,000 spectators who watched deadly gladiatorial battles. The Arena is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre in existence to have all four walls entirely preserved.
Pula, Rovinj
Your journey continues in Rovinj. On arrival, join a walking tour which includes the 18th-century Venetian-style church, dedicated to the martyred saint whose sarcophagus is said to have been miraculously washed ashore here around 800AD.
Disembark Yacht, Rovinj, Depart Zagreb
After breakfast, it is time to bid a fond farewell to the MV Lady Eleganza. You will be transferred to Zagreb Airport for your onward flight.
