MOJO Specifications

Motor yacht 'Mojo' is a 99.08ft custom boat as built by Ditmar Donaldson in United States at the Costa Mesa, CA shipyard. She was delivered to her owner in 1969 and was previously named build 218.

The yacht's general design work came from Dittmar Donaldson as did the naval architecture drawings and she was built in the United States. After her official launch in 1969 in Costa Mesa CA she was then passed over to the owner having completed sea trials and testing. She is a wooden yacht with a width of 6.64 metres / 21.8 feet MOJO has moderate size. A reasonably shallow draught of 1.98m (6.5ft) determines the list of overall harbours she can enter into, contingent on their individual depth at low tide.

M/Y MOJO Engines & Speeds:

The vessel is powered by twin agile GM main engine(s) and can attain a top end speed of around 12 knots. The engine of the ship gives 550 horse power (or 405 kilowatts). Her total HP is 1100 HP and her total Kilowatts are 809. Her propulsion units are twin screw propellers.

George C. Scott’s brush with death in Morro Bay aboard the M.V. Mojo

One of the most iconic images associated with  Morro Bay , California is a photo of Hollywood star, George C. Scott’s chartered yacht, the 84’ long M.V. Mojo, being smashed by a monster wave as it attempted to leave the harbor during a turbulent winter storm, January 28, 1978.

Ignoring harbor patrol and U.S. Coast Guard’s warnings not to attempt leaving Morro Bay, Scott commanded his skipper to head on out. The result was a brush with death at the legendary Morro Bay Harbor mouth.

Today, the luxury yacht  M.V. Mojo  operates out of Newport Beach, California as a luxury charter yacht, and it’s played a supporting role in numerous television shows and movies.

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by 3 x MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 17 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 31 knots with a range of up to 1,800 nautical miles from her 40,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Panam has a good selection of water toys and accessories to entertain you and your guests whilst on charter. Take to the sea on a Jet Ski offering you power and control on the water.
