alithia yacht solaris

Solaris Yachts, the Italian sailing brand, delivered the Solaris 80 RS yacht Alithia, the first of its kind. The yacht measuring 24m in length is built to offer a comfortable journey on the water, featuring open-plan areas and a functional living area, as well as ease of use built into all the systems onboard. The representative of the owner was Jens Cornelsen of Cornelsen & Partner, he also managed the project throughout the building phase.

alithia yacht solaris

Stepping on board of the guest cockpit on deck, the salon can be entered through a central companionway, with eye-level windows creating a bright atmosphere around the dining table and the lounge area. For the Solaris 80 RS, there are 2 different interior layouts available, both featuring four-cabins, distinguished by a master cabin either in the bow area or in the aft section below the steering position.

alithia yacht solaris

There is lots of room for creativity, since customization can be applied to the outdoor deck spaces, such as the fold-down beach club space. If improved maneuverability is desired, clients can get the 80 RS with a lifting keel, reducing the 4-m draft to 3.5m.

The next project to be launched by Solaris Yachts will be the flagship Solaris 111, that is expected to take place mid-August.

Video: First look at 140m superyacht SOLARIS totally unveiled

By Nina Done   24 March 2021

New video footage of the elegant 140m  mega yacht SOLARIS reveals more of her spectacular design features following her official launch from the Lloyd Werft shipyard in February — which was slightly hampered by a case of heavy fog. She has now left the German shipyard to undergo sea trials before her expected delivery this summer.

Penned by Australian designer Marc Newson in his debut superyacht project, SOLARIS is the culmination of four years under construction where the project has been mired in secrecy. Her preparation for sea trials comes after much excitement that's rippled through the yachting industry.

140m Solaris with crane in a shipyard in Germany

The video footage reveals an aft glass-bottomed pool, 2 beach clubs, an expansive swim platform and pronounced wing stations on either side offering enhanced visibility for the captain whilst maneuvering.

In addition, floor-to-ceiling windows will allow plenty of natural light throughout her interiors, with exterior glass railings offering unique views of her surroundings whilst enjoying the alfresco entertainment.

18 megawatts of combined propulsion...will propel SOLARIS at speeds unheard of for superyachts of this size.

SOLARIS boasts a whopping 8 decks, helipad, plus hangar and generous beach club aft. She also has a tender garage equipped with a crane for launching tenders, cleverly designed to be hidden away from the main guest areas.

A black and white image of new superyacht Solaris

Her elegant appearance is accentuated by the large arch that wraps across the beam midships, providing a dramatic contrast with the sleek lines of her pale grey hull and crisp white superstructure.

Enhanced power

18 megawatts of combined propulsion delivered through two state of the art Azipods managed by an ABB Engine Management System will propel SOLARIS at speeds unheard of for superyachts of this size.

Availability for yacht charter?

SOLARIS is being built for an experienced owner and it is believed that she will not be offered for charter by those in the industry.  If you would like to visit areas outside of the usual cruising grounds of the Mediterranean and Caribbean then please take a look our selection of  expedition yachts for charter  that are currently available.

Solaris 80RS leads a flurry of new yachts set to launch from the Italian yard

Yachting World

  • November 26, 2020

This Italian builder of stylish performance cruising and racing yachts has been busy developing an unprecedented four new designs to launch in one season – at 40, 60, 80 and 111ft

Solaris-80RS-new-yachts-aft-running-shot

The Solaris 80RS is aimed at extended cruising in comfort

Renowned Argentine designer Javier Soto Acebal has worked with Solaris Yachts for the past 11 years and for these boats he has drawn powerful, clean contemporary lines with soft chines and subtle reverse bows. The result looks good, should prove fast and also provides a large volume below decks.

All four models have twin rudders and proportionately more volume above the waterline towards the ends of their hulls than earlier models. All, apart from the Solaris 60, have a forward chine, which confers plenty of additional form stability and helps lengthen the effective waterline when sailing.

However, these are not boats that have been pushed to extremes. “With Solaris we innovate in a wise way, with steady evolution, but without risk taking,” says Soto Acebal.

Solaris-80RS-new-yachts-interior-saloon

The airy interior of the Solaris 80RS

The extra form stability is intended to make for a more comfortable experience at sea for owners, who also have the added reassurance of the grip provided by the twin rudders. In addition, the wider hull sections forward prevent the bow from dipping when the boat is heeled – instead the forward chine gives dynamic lift.

Soto Acebal has taken time to create a clean long-lasting aesthetic alongside performance. “We want these to be boats to fall in love with for a long time, not just at a first glance,” he says. Styling across the range has therefore been kept as clean as possible, both inside and out.

The aft ends of the cockpits are open, with the helm stations pushed as far outboard as possible. This makes it easy to see tell tales and waves from the helm. “We want the helmsmen of these fast cruisers to feel the same benefits as sailing a racing yacht,” Soto Acebal explains. The arrangement gives more deck space when in harbour or at anchor, including a clearer route between the transom and companionway. Styling below decks is also as crisp as possible.

Solaris 80RS

This design is geared more towards the needs of extended cruising in comfort and a higher degree of customisation is possible than for the two smaller Solaris models. On deck there’s a second relaxation area at the aft end of the cockpit for use when swimming or using watersports toys while at anchor. While the three different cockpit areas are clearly distinct, the sole is on a single level, which makes moving around easy.

Below decks are four spacious en suite cabins for the owner’s party, plus skipper and crew accommodation. Both owner aft and owner forward layouts are offered, with the latter having the galley and dinette located further aft in the boat to create more space for the master suite . In both cases the windows wrap neatly around the front of the coachroof to allow plenty of light into the saloon.

The first Solaris 80RS was launched in August and the second is already in build.

Solaris-40-new-yachts-side-view

The new Solaris 40 is designed to appeal to keen sailors

This is a design intended to appeal to keen sailors who like to get the best from their boats, even when cruising . The twin wheels set outboard give a clear view forward to the jib tell tales, outside of the sprayhood.

The wheels are more than 1.5m apart, which gives a clear passage between the companionway and transom, facilitating stepping on and off the boat in port, and giving more space for sunbathing.

Solaris-40-new-yachts-layout

The combined effect of extra beam in the ends of the hull and longer waterlines allows the forecabin double berth to be positioned 20cm further forward, while extra volume is also available for the aft cabins.

Lockers are more voluminous than in the past and large hull windows boost natural light levels. The first Solaris 40 hit the water in September.

Solaris-60-new-yachts-aerial-view

A sportier style for the Solaris 60 to suit racing too

This step up in size allows for a more elegant layout, with a flush foredeck and low-profile coachroof. This racier styling is not simply skin deep – from the outset this was conceived as a boat that could compete successfully in Mini Maxi class offshore races , including the main annual event at Porto Cervo.

Below decks care has been taken to tuck the well-appointed galley out of sight – it’s a couple of steps lower than the main saloon. The extra volume in the forward sections of the hull helps to create a more spacious owner’s cabin.

Solaris-60-new-yachts-layout

The two aft cabins can be arranged as double or twins, and both benefit from an elongated portlight in the face of the cockpit seats, which helps to boost the natural light in these areas. This model also features a crew cabin and large fore-and-aft oriented tender garage.

Solaris-111-new-yachts-aerial-view

The 111 is the largest yacht yet from Solaris

Solaris 111

The largest yacht in the brand’s history, the new Solaris 111 superyacht has had input from Lucio Micheletti, Patrick Roséo and MYT Monaco in the deck design and interior layout.

Despite its size and the level of comfort and space offered, Soto Acebal has again drawn a powerful performance hull, which has been constructed at Performance Boats facility in Forli.

Carbon pre-preg construction, along with carbon spars, keep weight to a minimum, while the telescopic lifting keel reduces draught from 6.05m to a more manageable 3.9m. The first Solaris 111 superyacht was launched in August 2020 and named CeFeA .

Luxury Marine

The Solaris Yacht 80RS’

Solaris 80RS

The new Solaris 80’ represents the top of the range in the Raised Saloon models up to 24 meters and confirms the innovation of Solaris. The boat is designed to circumnavigate the world, and has the characteristics of the maxi ocean yachts, the generous areas above and below deck have particular significance. A unique environment has been developed for the dinette, below which is the engine room, while above, the coachroof windows provide all-round sea views and natural light that makes the interior sparkle. The new Solaris 80’ is built in the Solaris advanced composite materials facility by using the pre-preg Sprint technology, which is the absolutely best technology for the quality of the composite, ensuring maximum safety. Sailing the boat, even with a small crew, is made possible by the technologies used to facilitate the boat handling. Below deck, the interiors are semi-custom in order to meet the requirements of the clients.

The interior layouts of the first two 80’s have different versions. In hull 01 the owner’s stateroom is aft while in hull 02 it is forward. Whatever the choice, the boat will be laid out with 4 double cabins, each with its own en-suite bathroom and shower and the skipper and crew cabins will also be equipped with separate bathroom and shower.

On deck, the boat is extremely clean and ergonomic, a consequence of the complexities of the project that led to design a cockpit line on one floor level. There are two different versions of companionway entrance: central with 2 tables or offset with one table. The helm command and sail management area is clearly separated from the relaxation area. The aft deck is extremely wide with access to the tender garage.

Solaris 80 RS

The Solaris 80 RS is the largest of the sub 24m range of Solaris RS models. Offering increased levels of comfort, accommodation and capability for ocean cruising. The yacht is available in a number of internal layouts meeting all potential owner requirements and can accommodate up to eight guests with crew. The 80 RS is built at the Solaris advanced composites facility giving the option to build both hull and deck in Sprint Pre Preg.

In line with Solaris Yachts range, the sail handing is all led aft to two banks of jammers supported by either electric or hydraulic winches and can be easily managed by a limited crew. In line with the recent Solaris designs the 80 RS will feature twin rudders, a standard draft of 4.0 with option of a hydraulic keel 2.6 – 4m.

The Solaris 80RS was conceived for extended blue water cruising. The generous areas above and below deck have particular significance. A unique environment has been developed for the dinette, below which is the engine room, while above, the coachroof windows provide all-round sea views and natural light that makes the interior sparkle.

There are two different versions of companionway entrance: central with 2 tables or offset with one table. The helm command and sail management area is clearly separated from the relaxation area. The aft deck is extremely wide with access to the hydraulically operated tender garage accommodates a 3m tender with longitudinal access, this is achieved with minimal intrusion into the aft cabins while the transom also serves as an ample swim platform.

Again, with a choice of interior finishes – light oak, teak, washed and antiqued oak, the craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality throughout is as you would expect from Solaris Yachts.
