BWA relocates Fort Lauderdale office

BWA Yachting relocated its Fort Lauderdale office from The Quay on 17th Street to Lauderdale Marine Center (LMC) this summer. The office is staffed by Mary Visser, managing director of Florida and Bahamas and Betsy Messenger, head of customer service for the region.

The global yacht agency offers vessel clearing, itinerary planning, transportation, provisioning, deliveries, local lifestyle information and more for captains, crew, owners, and guests.

“It’s easier for us to list what we don’t do,” Visser said during a tour of the facility in September. Although the company first opened its Fort Lauderdale office in 2007, the LMC location offers convenience for yachts in the area, she said. Visser worked for years as a stew and is an expert in the Bahamas.

“Mary works closely with captains,” said Laura Esteve, vice president of Americas for the company. “They’ll bring in their charts, and she can help with deep-draft navigation. She has created special itineraries for deep-draft vessels including pilotage for that area.”

Esteve is originally from Barcelona and is based in Barbados. She spearheaded yacht travel to the America’s Cup events last year in Bermuda and works closely with resources and facilities in the Caribbean.

The Fort Lauderdale office works closely with offices in West Palm Beach and Miami for vessels traveling in South Florida. Last October, BWA Yachting opened an office in Nassau at the John Alfred Dock ,which has 300 linear feet of dockage, Visser said.

37th America’s Cup Partners With BWA Yachting to Welcome Superyachts to Barcelona 2024

Throughout history, the America’s Cup has always proven to be a significant attraction for international superyacht fleets, and the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona is expected to be one to the biggest in recent memory due to its location, timing and sporting spectacle.

To service such a demand BWA Yachting has been appointed to manage and deliver the 37th America’s Cup Superyacht Programme (ACSY) in Barcelona in 2024. BWA Yachting will manage a centralised booking system for superyacht berthing as well as offering a range of VIP concierge services and superyacht social calendar.

Two world class marinas in Barcelona at Marina Vela and Port Forum have so far signed up to the ACSY programme and have become ‘Preferred Marinas’ for the 37th America’s Cup. ACE and BWA Yachting are looking forward to working in partnership with the other marinas in the city of Barcelona and region of Catalunya to become part of what promises to be an amazing Superyacht programme for the 37thAmerica’s Cup.

BWA Yachting played a central role in the Superyacht Program at the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco 2013 and at the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda 2017.
