M/Y Ecstasea is one the fastest superyachts in the world

superyacht ecstasea owner

Built by Dutch yard Feadship , M/Y Ecstasea is one of the fastest superyachts in the world.

She is unconventional and remarkable. Her initial owner wanted a fast yacht. Very fast. And Feadship delivered. Ecstasea can reach a top speed of 30 knots, and cruises at 25 knots.

To reach this speeds she needed a high bow and an impressive power plant.

Power is provided by no less than four diesel engines MTU 16V4000 M70, each delivering 3,111 hp. Also, for extra power, the captain can rely on a gas turbine that can deliver more that 30.000 hp. Total power is 46,843 hp.

M/Y Ecstasea was built for the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and sold to another owner in 2009 for an undisclosed sum.

The launch of the remarkable motoryacht Ecstasea represented a number of milestones in the evolution of the superyacht industry. This space has been optimized to incorporate an extensive selection of cutting edge facilities. Ecstasea's exterior is distinguished by a powerful and modern signature, with a high bow for cutting through the waves. The challenge of matching the hull form required for 30-plus knots with a sleek look appropriate for a yacht of this speed has been successfully met.

The helicopter hangar in the bow is completely hidden, without a hint of the horizontal sliding hatches either technically or in terms of style. With a seam in the centerline of the boat, the hatch slides open in two halves to port and starboard.

The 86m superyacht can accommodate 14 guests in seven double cabins. Interior design is by Terence Disdale while the exterior design is by De Voogt.

Motor Yacht

Unconventional, remarkable and a defining moment in custom yacht building, Ecstasea was launched in 2004 by Feadship and sports a distinctive De Voogt Naval Architecture design. The largest launch from The Netherlands at the time, her powerful exterior signature cuts through the waves with ease thanks to a hull built to push past an incredible speed of 30 knots.

For 86 metres, this yacht offers more than meets the eye thanks to both her capabilities on the water and comfort on board. Her Terence Disdale Design throughout the interior spaces creates a homely space with rich woods, welcoming tones and a sense of global citizenship to create a home anywhere in the world.

Refitted in 2009, this is a yacht withstanding the technological race and features a completely hidden helicopter hangar and space to accommodate a further helicopter on the aft. A wealth of cutting-edge tenders and toys are available to enjoy the water, and cinema, steamroom and gym for a more relaxing option.

Ecstasea can accommodate up to 14 guests in 7 cabins with 25 crew on hand to make life on board this Feadship yacht an idyllic break away, and thanks to high speeds and shallow draft, she provides those on board with a choice of any destination.

About Ecstasea

Smashing a Feadship length record that had been held by Al Riyadh since 1978, the 86-metre speedboat Ecstasea rewrote history with her awesome propulsion package and fully concealed helicopter hangar in the bow. New owners decided in 2017 to commission a wide range of design changes throughout the interior to suit their style and way of living onboard. Returning this remarkable superyacht home to Feadship was the obvious option for such a project in order to retain the highest standards of excellence.

The refit included many interior upgrades to both the owner and guest areas, with the crew accommodations and facilities also being refreshed. A new owners’ gym was installed in the heli-hangar and new seating placed on the sun deck aft complete with a fire pit and an outdoor cinema. Various new exterior design features were also added along with a broad selection of bespoke technical maintenance activities such as an overhaul of the main engines.

The 400-foot-long Kismet embarks on her maiden voyage in the Med

When it comes to exclusive enclaves, it’s pretty hard to compete with Monaco. The world’s elite flock to the tiny principality on the French Rivera for its sunny weather, sophisticated hotels and casinos, spectacular shopping and other financial reasons. They love to drive their fast cars down the famous roads leading into the city, and they love the speed and power of the legendary Monaco Grand Prix, too.

Monaco Yacht Show 20224

But as for the absolute pinnacle of luxury, it doesn’t get much better than owning a superyacht. And for the select few who happen to be shopping for a superyacht, there’s one place to see nearly all of the best, and biggest, and most technologically advanced yachts that money can buy (in addition to the tenders, and limousines, and private submarines, and luxury cars that go along with a superyacht) in one place: The Monaco Yacht Show , which starts next week.

Renaissance is massive

During the show, the docks of Monaco’s famous port are always filled with numerous yachts longer than 250 feet. But this year, the largest superyacht in the show is 400 feet long! And lots of superyachts in the 300-foot-long range will be there, too.

Apple’s update decision—bad news confirmed for millions of iphone users, today’s eclipse of the full moon sets up a ‘ring of fire’ — what to know.

So, if you are lucky enough to be in Monaco later this month, I’ll see you there. But if you not, here’s a sneak peek at the five largest yachts that will be on display.

Kismet underway

What can I say about the 400-foot-long Kismet (which was built by Lürssen , features an exterior design by Nuvolari Lenard and an interior design by Reymond Langton Design and is available for charter with Cecil Wright ) that can help you understand just how big a 400-foot-long superyacht is? How about, since it measures 40 feet longer than an American football field (including the end zones), it’s safe to say that Kismet would only just barely fit inside the Jacksonville Jaguars EverBank Stadium. And that’s only if it could somehow be lowered from the top with a crane!

Kismet departs Lurssen shipyard in Germany

But since these photos and that explanation can’t really convey just how big Shaid Kahn ’s (the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars) new 400-foot-long superyacht is...The only way you’ll really be able to understand just how big the Jacksonville Jaguars owner’s new yacht is to see it for yourself in Monaco next week. It’s going to be largest yacht at the show and has raised the bar on what’s possible when it comes to designing, building, owning and chartering the largest yachts in the world.

The interior for the 400-foot-long Kismet that charters for $3 million per week

And since Kismet has already spent her first season in the Mediterranean and is available for charter through Cecil Wright (instead of being hidden away for a private owner like many yachts in this size range are), you, too, could experience what it’s like to live the superyacht life aboard one of the largest and most opulent vessels in the world.

The interior for the 400-foot-long Kismet that charters for $3 million per week is massive

So, if you looking for a charter yacht that costs roughly $3 million per week, the Monaco Yacht Show will be the place where you can see just how opulent Kismet (and theses other superyachts too) for yourself.

‘Renaissance’

The Bannenberg & Rowell-designed Renaissance that can accommodate 36 guests in 16 cabins is unlike ... [+] most other superyachts that are available to charter

The 367-foot-long, 7,200-gross ton, Bannenberg & Rowell -designed Renaissance is um, a “really big superyacht.” But what intrigues me the most is that unlike most superyachts that can only accommodate 12 guests per charter, Renaissance has been designed to swaddle 36 guests in superyacht luxury.

Renaissance underway

As you’d imagine, this yacht has it all. Open-air dining on five decks and a dining room with 18-foot-tall ceilings on the main deck. A sushi bar. A pizza oven by the huge pool. And of course, the requisite DJ stations when it’s time to party. There’s also a massive cinema that has seating 19 guests on lower deck—the perfect place to just Netflix-n-chill.

The 18-foot ceilings aboard RENAISSANCE BANNENBERG + ROWELL DESIGN

And, oh yeah, the spa features hot and cold plunge pools, steam room and sauna, two treatment rooms and a full beauty salon. Contact Burgess for more info.

The all-new exterior lines of Oceanco H3

I’ve seen lots of superyacht designs come to life thanks to the hard work, dedication, perseverance and love that the large fraternity of superyacht designers, builders, artists and countless others pour into every spectacular new yacht that gets launched.

The rebuilt Oceanco H3 got a "rockstar" relaunch.

But I must admit, after seeing the 344-foot-long Oceanco -built (and rebuilt) H3 (first launched in 2000) emerge after an intensive 3-year-rebuild, I’m at a loss for words. I’m in awe, actually. Because after spending time at Oceanco with the project team and the owner's representative , I understand why this project is way more than just a refit.

It’s been transformed into a brand-new yacht with every modern comfort, but also retains its…soul.

The accommodations onboard the 334-foot-long H3 are spectacular

The sustainability impact of this project is also pretty awe-inspiring to me, too. According to Oceanco’s team of engineers, simply using an existing hull instead of building an brand-new one resulted in a 50% reduction of carbon emissions for the build. And since H3 has been repowered with smaller yet much more efficient engines (and her top speed has been reduced slightly), the yacht burns much less fuel than she previously did as well. Delivery time was reduced by 25% as well, and hopefully we see more projects take this approach in the future.

The video wall in the welcome area of the Ocean co H3 is innovative as well as attention grabbing.

Oceanco’s CEO Marcel Onkenhout adds, “To say that this has been a remarkable process is an understatement. The project has called for passion, dedication and extraordinary craftsmanship, with many involved in her creation now contributing to her recreation, including myself.” Contact Edmiston for more info.

Silver Yachts' BOLD is sure to get attention at this years Monaco Yacht Show

The 278-foot-long BOLD is the largest and most aggressive superyacht the Australian-based Silveryachts has ever built. Working in collaboration with yacht designer Espen Øino BOLD brings a whole new look to the explorer yacht category.

There helideck aboard BOLD is...bold!

Amels Full Custom ENERGY will be at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show

The 255-foot-long Amels full-custom yacht ENERGY was created by exterior designer Espen Øino and interior designer Francois Zuretti to provide unapparelled luxury and access to the water.

The top deck’s helipad forward is a versatile space outside heliops—sun lounge, al fresco yoga studio with wraparound ocean views, a space for elevated entertainment served by the statement bar...assorted lounging areas and dayhead inside. The jacuzzi and sun pads aft allow guests to bask in the sun.

The bridge deck music lounge is designed for acoustic excellence. There is a Steinway baby grand piano and marble-topped bar. The entertainment continues in the open-air lounge aft, guests can find some privacy on the sofa forward of the bridge or keep going on the walkaround sidedecks to appreciate the anchorage from every possible vantage point.

Full-height windows in the the owner’s deck bedroom provide direct access to a private foredeck terrace, a hot tub and a mesmerizing marble fire pit. Contact Burgess for more info.

Alexei Mordashov Is Russia’s Richest Man, Subject of EU Sanctions

On February 28, 2022, Alexei Mordashov was added to the EU’s sanctions list, a'though he hasn’t been sanctioned in the U.K. What's his net worth?

Jennifer Farrington - Author

March 2 2022, Published 3:28 p.m. ET

Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war , the Russian economy is in danger as well as the livelihood of some of its oligarchs. Alexei Mordashov , who currently holds the title of Russia’s richest man, has become the subject of EU sanctions. On February 28, 2022, Mordashov’s name was added to the EU’s sanctions list , although he hasn’t been sanctioned in the U.K., reports The Guardian .

Who is Mordashov and why has he been added to the EU’s sanctions list? Keep reading to find out about the billionaire.

Alexei Alexandrovich Mordashov

Russian Businessman and Investor

Net worth: $21.4 billion

Alexei Mordashov is a Russian billionaire businessman and investor. As the son of two steel mill workers, Mordashov started working at a steel company after college. Currently, he's the richest man in Russia. He's considered an oligarch with ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin. Amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the West is imposing sanctions on oligarchs.

Date of Birth: September 26, 1965

Birthplace: Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Russia

Residence: Barvikha, Moscow, Russia

Spouse: Marina Mordashov

Children: 7

Education: Leningrad Engineering & Economical Institute (BA)

Northumbria Newcastle (MBA)

How did Alexei Mordashov become Russia’s wealthiest man?

Mordashov began climbing his way to becoming one of Russia’s oligarchs after he graduated from Leningrad Engineering and Economic Institute in 1988 with a degree in economics. His degree allowed him to begin working at Cherepovets steel mill where he worked as an economist. A few years after joining Cherepovets, Mordashov took on the role as the company’s financial director, according to Bloomberg .

Sometime after the Soviet Union collapsed, Cherepovets was “reorganized into a joint-stock ownership structure” and renamed Severstal. Shares were then issued, allowing Mordashov to become a stakeholder of the steel company. Mordashov went on to serve as the company’s finance director in 1992 and became the CEO in 1996.

In 2015, Mordashov resigned from his position but remains a majority shareholder in Severstal, which is now one of the largest steel companies in the world, reports Forbes . Although Mordashov can attribute a substantial portion of his net worth to his stake in Severstal, his diverse portfolio shouldn’t be ignored.

Some of the companies Mordashov is currently invested in include:

  • TUI is a publicly traded touring company based in Germany. Mordashov has served as a shareholder for nearly 15 years and holds roughly 34 percent of its share capital, reports Market Watch .
  • Uktonos: an online supermarket
  • Sveza: a plywood maker
  • Rostelecomz: Mordashov currently holds a minority stake in the telecommunications operator.
  • Bank Rossiya: The oligarch reportedly controls 5.5 percent of the entity.
  • National Media Group: Mordashov holds a 26 percent stake in the company.

What effect will EU sanctions have on Alexei Mordashov’s fortune?

Being placed on the EU’s sanctions list has already impacted Mordashov’s net worth. At the beginning of February 2022, the Russian oligarch’s net worth was $27.7 billion, and by the end of the month, it had dropped to $21.9 billion, according to Bloomberg . As of March 1, 2022, Mordashov’s net worth was $21.4 billion.

In addition to watching his net worth decrease, Mordashov also made the decision to walk away from TUI’s supervisory board on March 2, 2022, as a result of the EU sanctions. These sanctions not only prevent Mordashov from accessing the shares he owns in TUI but may lead to trouble for the other businesses he’s invested in.

The Guardian reported that the EU believes the "media businesses he is invested in had helped destabilize Ukraine through pro-Russian television stations."

Mordashov and other Russian oligarchs restation their superyachts to avoid seizure by the U.S. and its allies.

It appears circumstances have only grown more troublesome for Mordashov after Biden announced on March 1 that “the U.S. and its allies are preparing to seize the yachts, luxury apartments, and private jets of wealthy, politically connected Russians,” reports Bloomberg . After the EU’s sanctions were put into place, the Severstal shareholder and other oligarchs began moving around their superyachts in an attempt to avoid seizure.

None of these oligarchs should be allowed to park their yachts, fly their jets, sleep in their mansions, or stash their cash offshore during the war in Ukraine. But much more must be done to stop the movement to oligarchy not just in Russia, but all over the world. (13/14) — Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) March 1, 2022

Mordashov’s 465-food Nord superyacht was recently spotted in Seychelles after it had departed the Maldives. The Russian oligarch also owns another yacht, Lady M, and a private jet, Bombardier Global 6000 (M-YSSF). It isn’t clear whether Mordashov has attempted to restation these assets in an attempt to avoid seizure.

'Ecstasea' collides with bridge

The 86m connected with part of the simpson bay bridge….

M/Y Ecstasea has been involved in a significant incident on the island of St Maarten.

The 86m vessel inadvertently destroyed the operator’s cabin at Simpson Bay Bridge, with widely circulated video footage clearly showing an open starboard hatch to be the culprit for the collision.

At the time of writing, there is no indication that anyone was hurt. But it does represent the 26th incident of any form to involve a superyacht in 2019. This represents a 62.5 per cent increase on 2018. But, of course, 2017 still represents the highest tally, with 31 recorded incidents, attributed in no small part to the series of natural disasters that occurred in freak sequence that year.
