Outremer 49 ft Catamaran 2012 YX0100000388
Outremer 49
Outremer is well known for fast, comfortable performance and their 49 won Sail magazine’s Best Boat award in 2012. It features a high bridge deck, a low-profile salon, very fast hulls (w/dagger boards) and a powerful but easily managed sail plan yet she also has a motoring range at 6.5 knots of approximately 950nm.
This US documented 2012 Outreamer 49 is on her SECOND owner and was NEVER chartered. She has enough blue water cruising systems to provide the level of comfort and safety most experienced sailors desire without being overly complicated. New engines installed 2018 under emissions recall w/factory warranty.

49' Ocean Cat 49 '00 "Lickety Split"
Here is a rare opportunity to get into a fast-cruising Ocean 49 catamaran with recent updates including new sails and electronics for a very reasonable price. American made, Ocean Cats were built by some of the builders of the earlier Manta catamarans as faster and more seaworthy passagemakers. This one has a lot of great gear, and just needs a few finishing touches.

The Ocean 49 has a surprising amount of living and storage space for a high-performance design. There is decent headroom in all the important areas like the galley and companionways to the port and starboard cabins. Ventilation and light are excellent throughout with multiple overhead hatches and ports. The interior finishes are very basic but could easily be customized to suit a new owner’s preferences.
The main cabin is light and bright, with a lounge/seating area on starboard, and full galley and spacious navigation area on port. There is plenty of extra storage in large cabinets under the chart table.
Both port and starboard hulls have large double cabins in the stern. The starboard side has another double bunk cabin forward, with a shared head and shower area in the walkthrough. The port side is set up more like a master suite with its own head and shower, and a walk-in closet/storage area forward. The forward area could easily convert back to fourth sleeping cabin if desired.
The living area is greatly expanded by the huge covered aft-deck/cockpit area with room to host a large gathering.

McConaghy S49 Walk-Through Video
McConaghy S49 Presentation
Improved waterline to beam values and higher power to weight ratio allows for exceptional performance. The S49 is much lighter, stiffer and stronger than most catamarans in her class, which equals exceptional performance and the twin dagger boards further improve windward performance. The high bridgedeck clearance and chamfer panels substantially minimize slamming. Weight is centralized to reduce pitching and build weight is around 30% lighter than most of the competition.
Quality Construction
Mast and sails, cockpit and interior living areas, the mcconaghy pedigree sets us apart.
For more than 30 years, we have been a part of the catamaran community and created Catamaran Guru™ to encourage and educate all the aspiring sailing out there. We understand the dream of traveling the world by catamaran and created a one-stop-shop to make that dream a reality for you.

Outremer 49 catamaran.
The main objective of the Outremer 49 catamaran is to provide a prime seaworthy performance. To achieve this end, Outremer 49 has sacrificed the space available not only on-deck but also inside the cabin in favor of high speed. With its slender hulls, pulled- back foredeck, and rounded trunk cabin, Outremer 49 offers enhanced performance, faster sailing, and increased structural integrity.
Table of Contents
DESIGN – INTERIOR & EXTERIOR
With the 49, Outremer has kept its goal of optimum blue-water cruising clear, but while doing so, it has not compromised on its aesthetic. Architecture by Christophe Barreau and Frederic Neuman, along with interior designing from Franck Darnet, Outremer 49 integrates a sleek look with high-standard functionality.
Outremer 49 has two carbon-fiber tillers which, tied together with the steering wheel-mounted to starboard of the coachroof, make up the intimate tiller-steering system. As the wheels turn the tillers and the tillers turn the wheels, the system is well-united and free of resistance. This system also offers a true sense of sailing for sailing enthusiasts, as one can intimate sail the catamaran by hand with tillers on a good day and choose to stay comfortably behind the wheel on a bad day. The jib sheet, main halyard, and the rotating masts are controlled from the coachroof, but everything else is controlled from behind the two coachroof stations via two dedicated winch pedestals. All navigation stations provide a complete and clear view of the rig. All the halyard and reefing work can be easily carried out at the base of the mast, owing to the generous space it offers.
The cockpit, on the same level as the saloon, has an outdoor dining area consisting of a table and a U-shaped lounge. This cockpit area is protected from sea-spray and harsh weather with two canvas wings. The foredeck of the Outremer 49 also offers a large trampoline area while there is no dedicated seating space.
The saloon of Outremer 49 offers pretty much the same features as any other Outremer with U-shaped seating for six people wrapped around a foam sandwich table and a galley aft to starboard, accessed by a large sliding glass door. Removable bench seat for additional two people is also available to be placed opposite to the settee, and there are storage lockers underneath the seating.
The galley itself has a stainless steel double sink, 4-burner stove, and an oven fitted with grills along with a fridge and a freezer. The galley is open to the cockpit and also has an opening hatch above the stove for air circulation.
The navigation station in the saloon has a spacious desk for charts and is fully equipped with an electric multifunction control panel and a panel of navigation electronics. The seat at the navigation station is also comfortable, but space in the saloon, again, has been cut back since the mast of the catamaran is located amidships and not forward which reduces the saloon length. There are slightly slanting windows lining the saloon which offer a view of the ocean with two opening hatches up forward allowing for light and ventilation.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The hulls of Outremer 49 are cored with PVC foam above the waterline while below the waterline, they are resin-infused and solid fiberglass laminate. The hulls themselves are high and narrow, offering headspace of up to 2 meters. The unique feature of Outremer 49 is the asymmetric nature of the hulls, which made the boat stand out in the crowd.
With fine maple interior finishing, the aesthetics of the Outremer 49 are light and comforting. As mentioned earlier, because the focus of the catamaran is on performance cruising, the space inside the hulls is slightly cramped when compared to other cats. However, there is still enough space in both the hulls to have large double beds aft while smaller double berths can be easily accommodated in the forward cabins too.
There are different versions of Outremer 49 layouts also offering three separate, individual berths. Layouts can also be customized according to one’s needs. In the owner’s version, there is an aft queen bed in port hull with a forward head and a separate shower while the starboard hull has a queen bed in the aft cabin, double bed in the forward cabin, a head, and a separate shower. There is also a wardrobe or an office in the port hull.
Outremer 49 is powered by two Volvo-Penta D2, four-cylinder diesel sail drive engines of 40 hp each with folding three-blade propellers. The access to these engines, however, is not ideal, and maintenance checks might pose a risk to some.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Outremer 49 has an overall length of 14.98 meters and beam of 7.45 meters. The maximum draft of Outremer 49 is 2.35 meters and the maximum displacement is 12,600 kg. It has a total fuel tank of 340 liters and a freshwater capacity of 380 liters.
PRICE RANGE
The price of the Outremer 49 catamaran varies from $800,000 to $850,000.
In conclusion, the Outremer 49 is built for those seeking an optimum catamaran performance experience. Although later discontinued by Outremer and succeeded by the Outremer 51 , the Outremer 49 did win the Sail’s Best Boat Award for 2012. It offers an excellent bluewater cruising experience, while still comfortably inhabited by a family seeking offshore adventures.

Bella Description
The Bali 4.8 design was new to the market in 2020 and provided a fresh approach to sailing. The design is revolutionary in how space is accessed, with deliberate attention to flow and open space. It succeeds in producing a scale that feels less like a boat, and more like an upscale floating condominium. Bali catamarans are known and appreciated for their unparalleled success in blending luxury, space, and performance; producing a sailing experience that is unparalleled. This new design further capitalizes on that reputation with the advent of the “Bali garage door” that is the centerpiece of the yacht. It allows for the aft wall of the yacht to simply disappear, opening up the back of the yacht to an unobstructed view of paradise. This also affords indoor/outdoor dining options and gives the ever- present Caribbean breeze ample opportunity to make its way through the yacht with ease. With her solid foredeck gone are the forward trampolines, replaced by a large relaxing lounge area complete with cushions for sunbathing. A full- sized door provides access directly from the lounge area into the salon, allowing free movement through the yacht. A walk up to the flybridge unveils a seating area perfect for cocktails and taking in sunsets. There is also another area for sunbathing on the flybridge where you can take in the sights of the islands from the highest vantage point on the yacht. The Bali open space design is further complimented by the superior outfit of Bella. No detail has been left unnoticed from the fine linens, pillows and throws to the wine glasses, serving and flatware that make every day feel luxurious. She has been stocked full with every appliance and kitchen accessory to allow the chef to fully showcase the mastery of their art. And the water toys abound, allowing guests to fully experience all the Caribbean has to offer, both in and out of the water. Bella will accommodate 6 charter guests in 2 spacious queen cabins and 1 sprawling owners suite master cabin for those who desire more space. She has solar panels, air conditioning, water maker, ice maker, full-sized refrigerator, a fully customizable menu, Caribbean made eco-friendly and reef safe toiletries, a bar stocked to guest preference, coffee/espresso machine, rendezvous scuba diving, snorkeling gear, underwater scooters, sub wing, wakeboard, stand up paddle board / kayak, towable water tube, 10 ft. floating dock, pool noodles, fishing gear, board and card games, television in the salon, Fusion 3 Bluetooth enabled sound system and Bella giveaways.

Our family had the best trip on the boat ´Bella´. Captain Jordache and Chef Olga were not only outstanding at handling the boat, but they made sure our trip with the kids was perfect. They went above and beyond. If we wanted to change plans, they always made sure to accommodate any request that we had. The food on the boat was also better than any restaurant. We truly had the trip of a lifetime and can´t wait to go back!
Thank you Jordache & Olga for a wonderful week aboard Bella! Jordache, you are a fine captain and lots of fun, thank you for the painkillers!! Olga, your food and hospitality is superb. We love you! And we love Bella! Thank you for taking us to the best spots BVI has to offer. Excellent trip and lots of love and fun!!!
We had an amazing time on Bella. We cannot say enough good things about Captain James and Olga. James did a great job discerning where our interests were and adjusting the itinerary for that. I feel that we were able to have some more exclusive experiences because of this. He knew how to avoid the crowds which was very appealing to our group. Somehow each day was better than the day before. Olga’s food was outstanding. She paid great attention to detail and her dishes were better than any five star restaurant. From her presentation to her flavors, we were truly amazed after each meal. She has a gift for cooking and took special care to create meals that appealed to our group. They were both very professional, but still friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them during our charter. We appreciated their expertise about the BVIs- the two times we are onshore they managed everything with the restaurants and made excellent recommendations. We will recommend Bella and her crew in the future.
We just spent the most epic time in the BVIs thanks to the best crew, James and Olga! They were very attentive to all of our needs and made sure we were having a great time! James is a great captain and will help create an itinerary that is flexible and fun for everyone.Olga is a culinary genius! She truly enjoys what she does as it is reflected in the time and care she takes in the presentation of her meals! They took us to some of the best places, Anegada, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda(get a ride from Sweet Ice Willy) James will organize it for you. If you are thinking of booking a charter, we highly recommend booking your trip with them! Thanks again for making our first trip to the BVIs so memorable!
From the moment we stepped aboard the Bella Charter, we knew we were in for a treat, but nothing could have prepared us for the incredible trip ahead. James was a fantastic captain, who did not only an incredible job navigating us around the most beautiful locations within the BVI’s but also was super great with our kids, taking them on wakeboard adventures, helping them fish, etc. The Bella itself was the most beautiful and comfortable boat. We are a family of 4 and the primary suite was much larger and expansive than expected. The indoor and outdoor lounge areas were super comfortable and there are a few different areas to hang out, providing opportunities to chill and read or socialize. And the food! Chef Tesha´s culinary magic turned each meal into a feast. She mastered cooking for a family with gluten, dairy and nut allergies in the most delicious way, which is no small feat! Her dishes were vibrant, fresh and family-friendly. This trip was the epitome of fun for our boys and super tranquil for us. It´s not a question of if, but when we will return again. A huge thank you to the crew for an unforgettable experience!

First impressions: Impeccably clean, modern, airy, wonderfully welcoming crew Loved our eating area with the indoor-outdoor concept. Spent so much time here. Loved that there were different common areas to gather and sit. The crew was wonderful and really met our needs/interests. Loved that we could totally relax and just have fun, not worry about anything. Slept so well! The food was fantastic. James was wonderful! Available when we needed him and really meshed well with our group. Very friendly and funny, and really seemed to understand what we were interested in. He hustled every day to find us the best spots to visit/moor! Olga was LOVELY. So sweet and kind, and really interested in making things from her heart/culture but also tailored to what we liked. The food was delicious and there was always plenty. Presentation was beautiful.
James and Olga thanks for a great week for laughing at our jokes accommodating our dietary requirements, and for showing us all the amazing sites in the BVI we really appreciate all your hard work and hospitality.

I had a look around the Slyder 49 at the Cannes Yachting Festival and it was one of my favourite catamarans at the show. It´s a clever design that seems to have successfully filled a market gap – this is the kind of design that the Catana Group might have come up with to replace their ageing 47. But they seem to be focused more on the charter market at the moment with their successful Bali brand. It is a sporty, cruising catamaran that is great value for money. She sits higher up the speed scale than boats like the St Francis 50 catamaran from South Africa.
Let´s hop onboard and take a look!
The Slyder 49 evolved from an earlier 47 footer designed by Yacht Design Collective (François Perus-Romain Scolari), the team behind the ITA 14.99. Perus´ first commission was the Slyder 47 – and it was very well reviewed by the sailing press, but unfortunately the German-Italian parent company went into administration in 2016
Luckily, the Slyder brand has been brought back to life by a new owner: Markus Kuhner who we met at Cannes. He has taken the brand on and has developed the 49 building on its DNA. This seems to be a popular size for the performance cruising market with boats like the new Outremer 55 and the Balance 526 all close to this length.
- Those aft helms open up the aft cockpit and salon into one big living space.
- Very well organised running rigging means that this yacht is well suited to short-handed and even single-handed sailing
- This German designed yacht is built in Quindao in China by Mazarin German Yachts. It´s good value for money
- The Slyder is light, stiff and fast – comparable to the best performance cruisers on the market.
- Curved daggerboards give you more space in the hulls compared to many of its competitors.
- She´s easy to dock with those aft helms.
- With those aft helms comes reduced visibility to the opposite bow. However, the aft cockpit is very well designed making it easy to switch sides. There is good visibility through the salon windows.
- The helm position is not well protected. In bad weather, you´ll be helming from the nav station. You might need to wear your oilies coming into a marina in the rain.
- With low production runs, you won´t have the same back up as you would do with a higher volume manufacturer. She´s almost a semi-custom boat at this stage.
- Could do with better positioned ventilation in the salon. Those roof windows are great for seeing the sails, but it will get hot in here in the sun.
The yacht is German designed and built in China at Mazarin German Yachts in in Qingdao, home of Tsingtao, the famous Anglo-German beer. You can´t go wrong there! The factory delivered all of the 70-foot Clipper Round the World Race yachts. They have built the Slyder using a 100% VENYLESTER composite vacuum process. All load lines have been reinforced by unidirectional carbon fabric and the bow area has been reinforced for impact protection with Kevlar. This is a light, stiff boat. She´s not as performance orientated as something like the Dazcat 1495 which is an out and out cruiser racer. The Slyder has been designed with one eye on the comfort meter.
It uses the Open concept so successfully employed on yachts like the new Nautitechs designed by Marc Lombard, with an eye on speed achieved with her low weight, slim hulls, powerful rig and asymmetrical boards. In fact, if Nautitech were to introduce an even sportier line, it might look a lot like this.
Once you hop up the sugar scoops, you start to appreciate the living space on offer on this yacht. Those aft helms open up a huge interconnected space between the covered aft cockpit and the salon.
With a lounger to starboard, and a table to port for 6-7 people, there is ample room for the sailors and non-sailors alike. And everyone will have plenty of space to spread out on this boat at anchor. I like the way the coachroof doesn´t extend all the way back to the transom giving you a really good view of the mainsail from the back of the boat.
The great thing about the design is that everything is to hand- it looks to have been well thought out. Need to adjust the traveller if you are reefing? It´s right there. Loosen the mainsheet? Easy.
All the lines are fed through an array of clutches in between the winches and the tails are stored in handy line bags underneath.
Additionally, you have your winches at the helms for your headsails. The whole space has been well thought out for short-handed or even single-handed sailing, the whole set up smacks of German efficiency.
The quality of the finish felt high- she´s light and simple, but Markus has kept the boat feeling warm. Down below, the curved daggerboards hug the outside of the hulls so she feels spacious compared to many other performance cruising cats.
Living Area
Step inside into the salon, and the first thing you will notice is how light it is in here. If you like to look at your sails, you´ll be happy as there are no fewer than 6 windows and 2 hatches in the roof in safety glass. The windows wrap around the salon giving good views all around from the nav station to port. It could maybe do with more ventilation though. The roof windows forward would be better off as hatches in my opinion. There are blinds on all of the roof windows to block out the sun, but it´ll get hot quickly in here.
Behind the nav station on the port side is a nice looking U-shaped galley that you can wedge your self into if the going gets rough. The sliding window opens up to connect to the aft cockpit like any decent modern cat.
To starboard is a big dining area that looks like it could seat 8 at a push when the table has been extended. And all around there are cupboards and plenty of space for fridges and freezer.
In the Owner´s version, there´s a separate shower and the head is positioned athwartships with plenty of space around it. There´s less space in the starboard hull of course, as this has 2 cabins with a head and shower inbetween.
The forward cabin can either fit a queen or a bunk bed. We like the simplicity of the design.
Well, this is where the Slyder 49 scores top marks. The punchy sail plan should power you along in double figures in decent conditions, and she feels well balanced for such a sporty cat. Those slender hulls slice nicely through the water with a smooth motion and above average speed.
We´d say they are aiming for that same positioning as Balance Catamarans – an optimium mix of speed and comfort, and while they haven´t quite matched the South African brand, they have got a long way there at a much lower price point.
The Jefa rigid steering transmission at those aft helms means that the sailing feel is excellent- you are right by the rudders after all, and those curved daggerboards will leave cruising catamarans in your wake when you are heading upwind and off the wind.
Green Power
The Slyder 49 has a green option too. Instead of trin 39 HP engines, you can opt for an electric drive that is built in Germany. The electric propulsion system, generator and the complete electrical system come from one supplier. This “full integration” minimises any issues as all of the electrical system components synch well.
Well, we are a big fan of this boat. The Slyder 49 achieves a very nice mix of performance and comfort, and is a real sailor´s boat. It´s good value for money – I think she fills a real gap in the market, and should do very well.
How much is a Slyder 49? This will depend on the options: base price ex-tax: € 699,000, carbon mast: 79,500, all-carbon construction: 129,000, electric winches: 5,900 each, electric traveler: 3,900, 138 m² (1,485 sq ft) Gennaker with deck hardware: 9,800, staysail: 6,500, fiber rigging: 6,500
Do Slyder make any other models? They are working on a 59 footer. There is also a Slyder 47. This earlier boat was produced by a different company which went into administration in 2016. The new brand owners then developed and marketed the 49.
