Michael Jordan's $80 Million Yacht Is a Luxury Boat Fit for the GOAT
Let's face it: The average joe, or even most above average joes for that matter, isn't going out and buying 200-foot super yachts. Only a select few of the most successful people in this world can afford such a luxury. Take the greatest player in NBA History, Michael Jordan , for example.
There's pretty much no denying it: Michael Jordan is the GOAT. Not only was he an NBA legend who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, but the five-time MVP also turned his Jordan brand into a super-successful business, making billions of dollars for Nike and opening the door for other athletes to do the same, like LeBron James. As of today, the billionaire owner of the Charlotte Hornets' net worth puts him on the Forbes list year after year.
Now, Jordan is no stranger to boating. A while back, he bought a massive sport fishing Viking Yacht named Catch 23 . It rocked the Air Jordan 3 sneaker elephant print color scheme, and he commonly used it to compete in fishing tournaments. However, one of his more recent purchase puts his old fishing boat to shame. I mean, it is an $80 million luxury yacht after all.
Below, we'll check out what the North Carolina's native pride and Joy (that's the boat's name, by the way) has to offer.
Michael Jordan's Yacht a.k.a. Joy

Coming in at a massive 230 feet, Joy can be spotted miles and miles away. With eight different full-sized cabins onboard, the yacht can house family, friends, or anyone else worthy of staying in the Master Suite with no problem at all. Inside, you'll also find a full bar with a beautiful dining room area and a 270-degree ocean view. Of course, Jordan has also hired some of the world's finest chefs and bartenders as crew members, to serve himself and the guests while out on the water.
Along with an amazing view, the rear deck is fitted with a jacuzzi and a surrounding lounge area for hanging out or tanning. Jordan isn't the kind of person that likes to just sit around though, so it makes sense that there's also a full gym at his disposal to get the blood pumping. Those five-star meals need to get burned off somehow. Additionally, it wouldn't truly be a yacht owned by basketball player Michael Jordan without a full-sized basketball court. He may not play professionally anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't teach his guests a few lessons on the court from time to time.
When it comes down to it, Jordan is a businessman. Because of that, there's also a room that's mainly dedicated to meetings with important clients. The room is fitted with top of the line audio/visual equipment, and a satellite to give a presentation that is nearly impossible to decline. What better way to pitch your ideas than from this luxurious meeting room?
To put things in perspective, this yacht costs around $840,000 each week in order to man the ship and to keep the vessel in seaworthy condition. Not exactly a small price to pay on top of the $80 million price tag, but for the top-of-the-line amenities, it seems to be worth every penny to Jordan. He truly is living the life, pulling up to the beach club on a Caribbean island, ready to take play some 1-on-1 with anyone willing to take on the GOAT.

There are a ton of perks when you're the richest athlete to ever step foot on Earth. Michael Jordan sold his basketball team for billions, a $29 million mansion that he doesn't mind hasn't been sold for almost a decade, one of the rarest cars in the world … The list goes on.
But one of the most expensive single purchases Jordan ever made with his money to date was on an $80 million yacht named ‘Joy'. What's more, that's not even the only yacht Jordan owns. He also has a $21 million yacht called ‘Mr. Terrible', which is pretty fitting when you compare the two yachts he has to his name.
First acquired by Jordan in 2016, the vessel spans 230 feet in length and outlines at almost 10 feet. Its maximum speed is 16 knots while its cruising speed is 12 knots. He was first spotted cruising with the yacht on his way to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy with some of his closest friends. Lastly, the superstructure is built of Aluminum, the decks are made of Teak wood, and the entire ship is insulated with glass aluminum to accommodate the changing weather and was specially developed by Bannenberg & Rowell Designs.
Amenities inside Michael Jordan's yacht
Michael Jordan named this yacht Joy for a reason. Anything that can bring him or anyone joy can be found inside his yacht. For starters, it comes in five decks, eight cabins, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and a stunning dining room. One of the biggest perks of this yacht is the owner's pavilion. This is where you'll find the yacht's penthouse suite, personal office, and a terrace to check out the best views of the ocean.
If you plan to stay active while on the yacht, it has you covered too. It also comes with a gym and an indoor basketball court. After all, what more can you expect from the yacht of one of the greatest basketball players in the world?
When it comes to maintenance, Joy definitely doesn't come cheap. There's a crew of around 19 people onboard the ship 24/7 and costs $800,000 a week to maintain as per Marca . Luckily, this yacht isn't exclusive to Jordan or his friends and family. In fact, anyone can rent Joy for a week. All you'll need is $840,000!

Michael Jordan’s $80 Million Yacht ‘Joy’ Requires Staggering $800,000-a-Week Maintenance
Michael Jordan, the world’s wealthiest athlete, has made some lavish purchases since his retirement from basketball, including acquiring superyachts. In 2016, he purchased the extravagant superyacht ‘Joy’ for $80 million. This impressive vessel stretches over 230 feet in length and 10 feet in width, offering a range of amenities such as eight cabins, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and a dining area.
Additional features on ‘Joy’ include the owner’s pavilion, a penthouse suite, a personal office, and a terrace with breathtaking ocean views. Reflecting MJ’s lifestyle, the yacht even boasts a basketball court and gym.
Maintaining such a luxurious yacht comes at a substantial cost, requiring a crew of 19 people. The weekly expenses alone amount to $800,000, totaling $3.2 million per month. However, ‘Joy’ has been available for rental to anyone willing to pay $840,000 a week.
This extravagant expenditure showcases how Michael Jordan has accumulated immense wealth. He recently joined the Forbes 400 list of the richest people in the United States, despite retiring from basketball two decades ago.
Despite his retirement from basketball, Michael Jordan continues to express his competitive spirit in various activities, including fishing. He recently participated in the 32nd MidAtlantic fishing tournament, where rough weather conditions led to only 11 boats venturing out on the final day. Despite the challenges, the event saw three dozen winners sharing a $5.79 million prize.
Jordan’s boat, “Catch 23,” secured third place with a 75-pound catch, earning a cash prize of $462,318. Christopher Little’s “Talkin Trash” claimed the overall win in the Tuna Division, while Chip Caruso’s “Pipe Dreamer” dominated the Blue Marlin division.
Through his ventures in fishing and 23XI Racing, Jordan continues to channel his competitive nature outside of basketball. As the world’s richest athlete, he has even more resources to indulge in his passions, following the sale of the Charlotte Hornets for $3 billion.

Michael Jordan Lights Up Monaco with a Taste of His Prestigious Tequila Brand
Michael Jordan, a figure who has transcended the realm of sports to become a global icon, recently marked his presence in Monaco. Known for his magnetic charm and unfading allure, even years after his retirement from professional basketball, Jordan never ceases to draw attention.
This visit to Monaco was marked by a delightful evening at Sass Café, a venue renowned for its vibrant atmosphere throughout the year. Located on the opulent Princesse Grace Avenue, this café has a rich history and tradition of hosting many sports stars and celebrities. The presence of a sports legend such as Jordan undeniably added to its glowing reputation.
Meanwhile, in the backdrop of these cheerful celebrations, Jordan's yacht was nestled securely in the serene Monegasque bay. This juxtaposition of a bustling social scene against the tranquil bay painted a picturesque setting that reflected the multifaceted charm of Monaco.
During his visit, Jordan didn't miss the chance to introduce the locale to his own prestigious tequila brand, Cincoro. This brand was launched in collaboration with other associates from the National Basketball Association (NBA), and symbolizes a unique intersection of sports and luxury lifestyle. Jordan arrived with several bottles of this premium tequila, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit outside of basketball.
The Cincoro brand is not just an extension of Jordan's personal brand, but it signifies his entry into the world of luxury beverages. This alcoholic beverage, crafted with the utmost care and intended to be enjoyed responsibly, holds the promise of global recognition in the near future. In fact, distribution plans are already underway to extend the reach of Cincoro to Europe next year. Considering the warm reception at Sass Café, it is highly likely that the first European counters to offer this tequila will be in Monaco itself.
In summary, this was not just another high-profile visit to Monaco, but it marked the blend of sports, luxury, and entrepreneurial venture - all wrapped into one memorable evening at the Sass Café, courtesy of Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan’s new super yacht in Mallorca
Mega yachts are flocking back to the balearics.
M/Y Mbrace off Puerto Portals this weekend. | M Stadler
The original owner of the yacht was Sir Lloyd Marshall Dorfman CVO CBE, a British entrepreneur and philanthropist . He founded Travelex (today part of Finablr), the world’s largest retailer of foreign exchange.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List in 2020, Dorfman is worth £720 million .
Dorfman paid a price of £87 million for the yacht, or - with historical exchange rate differences - $115 million. Its annual running costs are in the region of $10 million . The price of a yacht can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, such as the size, age and level of luxury of the yacht, as well as the materials and technology used in its construction.
The interior of M’BRACE’ is designed by Harrison Eidsgaard. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 24.
Dorfman sold her in December 2022, allegedly to the basketball legend Michael Jordan who already owned the super yacht Catch 23.

Everything You Want to Know about Michael Jordan’s Yacht
For a lot of people out there, Michael Jordan was the biggest sports star of the 1990s. This is because he led the Chicago Bulls to 3 championship wins from 1991 to 1993, retired from the NBA to play some minor league baseball, and then led the Chicago Bulls to another 3 championships from 1996 to 1998. Summed up, it is no wonder that a lot of people see him as the greatest basketball player of all time, which is something that comes with a huge amount of respect, as shown by nicknames such as Air Jordan.
With that said, it is interesting to note that Jordan seems to have a fair amount of business skill as well. Certainly, he came out of the NBA as a millionaire , seeing as how he made a total of $90 million over the course of his NBA career. However, that served as a springboard and nothing more than that, as shown by what Jordan has managed to make based on the reputation that he built up. For example, Jordan was famous enough that he wound up playing the lead character in the 1996 movie called Space Jam , which might have met with a mixed response from the critics but was nonetheless such a huge success that it became the single most successful basketball movie ever. Furthermore, it is important to note that Jordan still makes tens of millions on Nike royalties on an annual basis because his shoes are still selling to a huge number of fans out there. Finally, Jordan actually became a billionaire in relatively recent times because he purchased the Charlotte Bobcats for $175 million, which is relevant because said franchise has seen a huge upswing to value to something along the lines of $750 million.
As a result, it is safe to say that Jordan has a lot of money to spend in various lavish ways. For example, he has a private jet that has been painted Carolina blue. Furthermore, he has spent more than $12 million building a home in Florida, which was in addition to real estate properties elsewhere. Finally, Jordan owns a yacht called Mr. Terrible, which is well, the exact opposite of what its name sounds like.
What Is There to Know About Michael Jordan’s Yacht?
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mr. Terrible is one of the most luxurious yachts that can be found out there on the sea. In total, it measures 154 feet in length, which is enough by most ways of reckoning to make it count as a mega yacht. For those who are curious, mega yachts are essentially private yachts measuring 24 meters or more, which is big enough that they actually need a professional crew on-board. Something that more or less restricts them to a very small group of potential clients, which in turn, means that each example is very much one of a kind with nothing else that is exactly like it.
Of course, mega-yachts being mega-yachts, this means that there is more to it than just its length. For example, one of the reasons for its construction is its use on fishing trips, as shown by the facilities that can be found on-board. Moreover, it is interesting to note that Mr. Terrible actually comes with a fairly powerful underwater camera, meaning that Jordan and his guests can use it to gaze down at what is happening in the waters beneath them.
With that said, Mr. Terrible boasts other ways to support rest and relaxation as well. For example, there is a bar where people can sip their favorite beverages. Furthermore, there is an area for outdoor dining as well as an indoor dining room with an actual chandelier. On top of this, Mr. Terrible boasts a design that has drawn inspiration from Art Deco as well as tropical themes, as shown by the fact that it has incorporated tropical wood into its walls as well as a staircase that has incorporated bubinga, which is a particular kind of hardwood with a rich color that projects an almost palpable presence.
Summed up, Jordan’s Mr. Terrible is a remarkable demonstration of the yacht-builder’s art because he can afford to pay for the best. Something that stands as a visible reminder of how Jordan has managed to turn his basketball reputation into a net worth that makes him the third wealthiest black person from the United States.

Michael Jordan’s Yacht Life. Inside the NBA Great’s Multimillion-Dollar Fleet of Yachts
Michael Jordan is enjoying smooth sailing since agreeing to sell his stake in the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets for a reported $3 billion. The former NBA champ has at least three multimillion-dollar yachts — an $80 million yacht called Joy, another yacht called Mr. Terrible worth $21 million, and one named Catch-23.
Inside ‘Joy’
Joy measures 230 feet (70 meters) in length. Bannenberg & Rowell Design created Joy, which has a top speed of roughly 16 knots and a cruising speed of about 12 knots.
The super yacht, launched in 2016 and purchased by Jordan in 2019, has a total of five decks, each built of teak wood. The owner’s pavilion, which gives a 270-degree view of the ocean and features a chic owner’s lounge for enjoying a luxuriant yet private moment, is one of this opulent ship’s key attractions. The master suite is exquisite, and the bedrooms have mosaic skylights that overlook the ocean. Additionally, there is a stunning owner’s office.
The yacht can accommodate a crew of 19 and roughly 12 passengers. The eight lavish cabins, which are almost as opulent as the master suites, are available for guests to stay in. All of the bathrooms include granite finishes and rainfall showers. To provide visitors with the most memorable experience possible, there are spa rooms equipped with an indoor jacuzzi and sauna. A VIP suite and twin rooms are lavishly provided for on the yacht.
And, of course, it has a gym and an indoor basketball court.
To adapt to shifting weather conditions, the ship is built with an aluminum superstructure and glass aluminum insulation.
Among the trips Jordon has taken on the yacht was with some of his closest friends to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy.
Inside ‘Mr. Terrible’
Although it is four times smaller than Joy, Mr. Terrible is also one of the most luxurious ships now cruising the seas, and by most measures, its overall length of 154 feet is sufficient to deem it a super yacht.
Mega yachts are essentially private yachts that are 24 meters or larger in length and are so big that a professional crew is necessary to manage them.
Mr. Terrible has an indoor bar, and additionally, there is a space for dining outside as well as a dining area within with a real chandelier. On top of that, Mr. Terrible has a design that was influenced by both Art Deco and tropical themes, as evidenced by the use of tropical wood in its walls and on a staircase made of Bubinga, a tropical African hardwood.
It is unclear when Jordan purchased Mr. Terrible.
Inside Catch-23
Jordan also owns a fishing yacht called Catch-23; his Chicago Bulls playing number was 23. The yacht cost $8 million .
Viking Yachts produced the Catch 23 luxury motor boat in 2018.
The sport boat has a top speed of 40 knots and a range of more than 500 nautical miles. This magnificent yacht is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and facilities to provide a pleasant and entertaining experience for everybody aboard. The 80-foot yacht’s interior is built for luxury and comfort, with high-end finishes, comfy furniture, and cutting-edge entertainment systems. The boat can easily accommodate up to eight people and a crew of two. In 2020, Catch 23 was used to compete in the Big Rock Fishing Tournament, where Jordan traveled to Morehead City, North Carolina. Jordan competed in the nonprofit event to raise money for local charities.
Inside M’Brace
It is rumored that Jordan also owns a yacht called M’Brace, which is worth $115 million. According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, the yacht was sold in December 2022, allegedly to the basketball legend. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 24.

Already a basketball legend, minor league baseball player, high-stakes golfer, NASCAR team co-owner and poker enthusiast, Michael Jordan scratches his competitive itch these days with deep sea fishing.
And because this is Jordan, his 'hobby' comes in the form of a $7.5 million tournament off the North Carolina coast, where the six-time NBA champion is rumored to aboard a new yacht worth an estimated $15 million.
For comparison's sake, that's less than 1 percent of Jordan's reported $3.6 billion net worth.
Known as the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament , the competition began on Monday runs through Saturday, after which there will be an awards brunch on Sunday.
Jordan is not listed among the anglers in the tournament. However, he has previously participated in the event and a conspicuous vessel named 'Catch 23' is currently entered into the field. Podcaster and investor Joe Pompliano added fuel to the fire by reporting Jordan's entry into the field.

His Airness' new vessel is an 82-foot Boatworks ship, according to Pompliano. Captained by Stetson Turney, this yacht replaces the $8 million Viking-made ship he used at previous tournaments.
But as Pompliano points out, they both have a distinctive 'elephant' print wrapped around the boat.
Sportskeeda reports that Jordan competed at a popular billfish event in the Bahamas last year, where he and his teammates reeled in four blue marlins, five white marlins, and a sailfish.
Turney was named the best captain during the event.
Jordan has been known to fish with golfer Luke Donald.
In fact, Donald once shared a birthday message to Jordan on Instagram, showing the two out on a boat at sea and captioned the image: 'Happy Birthday to the G.O.A.T.
'The most competitive person I know in everything he does, he always finds a way to win. He's also one of the kindest and most sincere people I've been around.

Jordan and Europe Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald have taken fishing trips together before
'He's an inspiration to millions, including myself and I'm fortunate to hang with this legend. Happy Birthday MJ.'
Speaking on the-then European Tour's 'Life on Tour' podcast in 2018, Donald said fishing was starting to replace golf as Jordan's main hobby.
'I think he's getting a little bit bored of golf! So we go fishing a lot,' he said. 'I'd give him 10 shots though when he play.
'He knows how to play, he knows how to score. Very good short game, he can get up and down from nowhere.'

People can't believe how much Michael Jordan's weekly maintenance bill comes to on $80 million superyacht
Did you expect chartering a super-yacht to be cheap.
Kit Roberts
Michael Jordan spends a staggering amount to charter a super yacht.
Jordan is one of the richest athletes in the world and used his NBA wealth to invest and build a massive portfolio worth over $1 billion.
The yacht is owned by Indian businessman Sameer Gehlaut, and is reportedly worth around $80 million.
If that sounds like a lot for a boat, it's probably because it has more amenities and luxuries than most houses.
These include not one but two jacuzzis, a dining room, a dining room, a beach club, movie theatre, a gym, and a spa.
There is also, of course, a basketball court on board as well.
It's not just that either, as the boat also has a private chef assigned to it, as well as eight cabins for guests.
In total, the yacht has a crew of 19 on board, including a captain and sailors as well as hospitality staff.
Joy is available to charter for people who are in the business of spending their time hanging out on luxury yachts, and can afford it.
Among them is Michael Jordan, himself the owner of several yachts of his own.
But it seems that Joy offers something that the basketball legend likes a lot, as he is willing to fork out a staggering amount to charter the 70 metre boat.
So how much is he willing to spend to rent out the boat?
Well, it comes to a whopping $780,000 a week to charter the yacht.
Yes, you read that right, nearly $800k a week. That's a fair wedge of cash to be dropping on spending just one week on an enormous yacht.
Though given the amazing amenities on board the boat, the price tag perhaps shouldn't come at much of a surprise.
Even covering the cost of running such a vessel must be sky high.
You have to pay all of your staff's wages, which means covering wages for a crew of 19 people on the ship.
Then there's also the costs of actually physically keeping the boat running.
That includes buying fuel to power the twin engines.
This isn't just filling up your car - Joy's fuel tanks hold a whopping 100,000 litres (around 26,400 gallons) of fuel according to yachtcharterfleet.com.
So one tank of fuel at the current price of $5.66 a gallon in the Bahamas, where Joy is located, is just under $150,000.
No wonder chartering Joy out is so expensive!
