There are a ton of perks when you're the richest athlete to ever step foot on Earth. Michael Jordan sold his basketball team for billions, a $29 million mansion that he doesn't mind hasn't been sold for almost a decade, one of the rarest cars in the world … The list goes on.

But one of the most expensive single purchases Jordan ever made with his money to date was on an $80 million yacht named ‘Joy'. What's more, that's not even the only yacht Jordan owns. He also has a $21 million yacht called ‘Mr. Terrible', which is pretty fitting when you compare the two yachts he has to his name.

First acquired by Jordan in 2016, the vessel spans 230 feet in length and outlines at almost 10 feet. Its maximum speed is 16 knots while its cruising speed is 12 knots. He was first spotted cruising with the yacht on his way to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy with some of his closest friends. Lastly, the superstructure is built of Aluminum, the decks are made of Teak wood, and the entire ship is insulated with glass aluminum to accommodate the changing weather and was specially developed by Bannenberg & Rowell Designs.

Amenities inside Michael Jordan's yacht

Michael Jordan named this yacht Joy for a reason. Anything that can bring him or anyone joy can be found inside his yacht. For starters, it comes in five decks, eight cabins, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and a stunning dining room. One of the biggest perks of this yacht is the owner's pavilion. This is where you'll find the yacht's penthouse suite, personal office, and a terrace to check out the best views of the ocean.

If you plan to stay active while on the yacht, it has you covered too. It also comes with a gym and an indoor basketball court. After all, what more can you expect from the yacht of one of the greatest basketball players in the world?

When it comes to maintenance, Joy definitely doesn't come cheap. There's a crew of around 19 people onboard the ship 24/7 and costs $800,000 a week to maintain as per Marca . Luckily, this yacht isn't exclusive to Jordan or his friends and family. In fact, anyone can rent Joy for a week. All you'll need is $840,000!

Take a look below at some of the pictures of Michael Jordan's super yacht.

"Joy," Michael Jordan's $80 million yacht, is one of the GOAT's most prized possessions.

Michael Jordan's $80 Million Yacht Is a Luxury Boat Fit for the GOAT

Let's face it: The average joe, or even most above average joes for that matter, isn't going out and buying 200-foot super yachts. Only a select few of the most successful people in this world can afford such a luxury. Take the greatest player in NBA History, Michael Jordan , for example.

There's pretty much no denying it: Michael Jordan is the GOAT. Not only was he an NBA legend who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, but the five-time MVP also turned his Jordan brand into a super-successful business, making billions of dollars for Nike and opening the door for other athletes to do the same, like LeBron James. As of today, the billionaire owner of the Charlotte Hornets' net worth puts him on the Forbes list year after year.

Now, Jordan is no stranger to boating. A while back, he bought a massive sport fishing Viking Yacht named Catch 23 . It rocked the Air Jordan 3 sneaker elephant print color scheme, and he commonly used it to compete in fishing tournaments. However, one of his more recent purchase puts his old fishing boat to shame. I mean, it is an $80 million luxury yacht after all.

Below, we'll check out what the North Carolina's native pride and Joy (that's the boat's name, by the way) has to offer.

Michael Jordan's Yacht a.k.a. Joy

Coming in at a massive 230 feet, Joy can be spotted miles and miles away. With eight different full-sized cabins onboard, the yacht can house family, friends, or anyone else worthy of staying in the Master Suite with no problem at all. Inside, you'll also find a full bar with a beautiful dining room area and a 270-degree ocean view. Of course, Jordan has also hired some of the world's finest chefs and bartenders as crew members, to serve himself and the guests while out on the water.

Along with an amazing view, the rear deck is fitted with a jacuzzi and a surrounding lounge area for hanging out or tanning. Jordan isn't the kind of person that likes to just sit around though, so it makes sense that there's also a full gym at his disposal to get the blood pumping. Those five-star meals need to get burned off somehow. Additionally, it wouldn't truly be a yacht owned by basketball player Michael Jordan without a full-sized basketball court. He may not play professionally anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't teach his guests a few lessons on the court from time to time.

When it comes down to it, Jordan is a businessman. Because of that, there's also a room that's mainly dedicated to meetings with important clients. The room is fitted with top of the line audio/visual equipment, and a satellite to give a presentation that is nearly impossible to decline. What better way to pitch your ideas than from this luxurious meeting room?

To put things in perspective, this yacht costs around $840,000 each week in order to man the ship and to keep the vessel in seaworthy condition. Not exactly a small price to pay on top of the $80 million price tag, but for the top-of-the-line amenities, it seems to be worth every penny to Jordan. He truly is living the life, pulling up to the beach club on a Caribbean island, ready to take play some 1-on-1 with anyone willing to take on the GOAT.

Magic Johnson and Family Visit Sicily — and the 'White Lotus' Hotel! — as He Gets Back to European Vacation

“Our family had a great time today at the San Domenico Palace, Taormina," the NBA legend wrote on Instagram

magicjohnson/Instagram

The Magic Johnson European vacation tour made its latest stop in Sicily, Italy, and the NBA legend couldn’t stop raving about the experience.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Johnson shared several snaps of him and his family enjoying the surroundings of the luxurious San Domenico Palace in Taormina. It was a continuation of the Johnsons’ current tour of the continent via their 296-foot chartered boat, the Phoenix II, which Magic returned to after a brief trip to Washington, D.C. for the announcement that he, along with Josh Harris and other investors, had purchased the Washington Commanders football team .

“Our family had a great time today at the San Domenico Palace, Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel in Sicily,” the basketball star wrote in the post’s caption, “where we enjoyed an incredible dinner at Restaurant Anciovi."

“A lot of the art and artifacts in the hotel are from the 1800s and fun fact, season 2 of White Lotus was filmed on the property! I recommend anyone traveling to Sicily, Italy stay in the hotel and eat at Anciovi!”

According to its website, San Domenico Palace is situated on a rocky promontory above the Ionian Sea. Among the hotel’s highlights are a clifftop infinity pool, its gardens, and Michelin-starred dining.

Season 2 of The White Lotus was filmed at the hotel, and the show’s executive producer, David Bernad , told PEOPLE last year that the place has so much personality. "Taormina is this very ancient city up in the hills and you feel the history and the life that's been lived there," he said.

For the last few weeks, Johnson has been posting photos on Instagram of his family’s European vacation, which have included parts of France and the Mediterranean. Joining him in the fun most recently have been his wife Cookie and their children and grandchildren.

”Cookie and I are excited to have our kids Andre, EJ, Elisa, our daughter-in-law Lisa and grandkids Gigi and Avery join us on the yacht!," he wrote in a post dated July 16 .

At one point during the excursion, the yacht’s crew threw a '70s-themed party aboard the vessel. “The other night, the Phoenix II crew did an amazing job of throwing us a 70s party! “We all dressed up and had a blast!!" Johnson wrote , accompanied by a group shot that included such friends as Samuel L. Jackson .

Throughout the vacation, Johnson was joined by other famous friends, including another NBA great, as he wrote in another post: “Tonight we enjoyed an incredible dinner at the world-famous Da Paolino Ristorante aka the lemon tree restaurant in Capri, Italy! AND I got to hang out with my great friend and the greatest basketball player to ever live, Michael Jordan, and his wife Yvette, Sam and LaTanya Jackson, Judge Greg and Linda Mathis, and John and Vicki Palmer.”

Johnson not only has had a busy summer vacationing, but he recently made another footprint in the business world: he became one of the new owners of the Washington Commanders after the NFL owners last week approved the sale of the team to a group headed by billionaire Josh Harris for $6.05 billion. In a TODAY interview, Johnson described being a part owner of an NFL franchise as “the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Michael Jordan’s European Yacht Adventure: Inside the Multimillion-Dollar Boat Did He Set Sail In

Michael Jordan’s new $15 million, 82-foot yacht, called the “Catch-23” was entered into a deep-sea fishing tournament off the North Carolina coast in June. His team didn’t win, but another of Jordan’s yachts is grabbing attention. His family has been cruising around in a mega yacht, most likely his boat named M’BRACE.

yacht

Joy seems perfect for family vacation jaunt. The 230-foot yacht cost Jordan a whopping $115 million. According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, the yacht was sold in December 2022, allegedly to the basketball legend. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 24. Its speed is 14 knots. Launched in 2018, M’BRACE is a symbol of luxury and state-of-the-art maritime engineering.

Jordan and his wife, Yvette Prieto, have been photographed at several stops on their trip. According to the Daily Mail, the Jordans were joined by his mother, Deloris, brothers James Jr. and Larry, sister Roslyn, and other loved ones.

michael jordan yacht taormina

During their family vacation, MJ even hired a magician to entertain the group on his luxurious boat.

It’s no secret the former basketball great has a love of yachts — he owns several. So many, that there is some confusion as to what yacht he is using for vacation.

Yachts, Yachts, and More Yachts

Jordan also owns another mega yacht, Joy , that reportedly put him back $80 million.

And there are his fishing yachts — two named Catch 23. The latest is Bayliss yacht Catch-23. According to the Bayliss website, the custom boat was completed in February. The company’s description reads, “Catch 23 is a fully custom, cold-molded sportfishing yacht designed and built in Wanchese, NC. This vessel is powered by MTU 16V2000 2600 HP engines, and her custom painted hull makes her unmistakable on the water.”

According to Boat International, it is a 25-meter Motor Yacht with a top speed of 40.0 knots. She gets her power from two MTU diesel engines. The yacht can hold up to eight guests in four staterooms, with two crew members. It also apparently is in the top 5 percent by speed in the world, the outlet reports. Catch-23 is one of 5,833 motor yachts in the 24-30m size, and her top speed is 13.49 knots above the average.

Jordan’s other, earlier model Catch-23 reportedly cost $8 million.

As the New York Post reported, the couple was seen heading to dinner at the W Hotel, a European vacation like their previous family trips, including last year’s adventures in Italy and France with their twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel.

Whichever yacht he’s on, Jordan does have an impressive fleet.

In 2020, Jordan’s Catch-23, participated in the Big Rock Fishing Tournament. Catch-23, known for its top speed of 40 knots and a range of over 500 nautical miles, is equipped with cutting-edge technology and luxurious amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all aboard. Jordan traveled to the same spot, to compete in this prestigious nonprofit event, aiming to raise money for local charities.

Then this year, he added a second Catch 23 and also entered it into a fishing competition.

On June 14, in his attempt to compete in the 66th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina, the Catch-23, along with a crew of seven anglers and a captain, aiming for a hefty catch, according to The Mirror.

However, the team managed a total catch of only 400 pounds, falling well short of the tournament’s largest catch, which was a 516-pound fish. The competition had a prize was $7.5 million.

Alas, Jordan, known for his relentless competitive drive even after his NBA retirement as a six-time champion, fell short of expectations at a recent fishing competition.

The prize money would have been a fragment of his fortune, worth and estimated $3.2 billion.

Michael Jordan enters fishing tournament in stunning $8million superyacht - as NBA legend puffs on a cigar while competing in Maryland

  • READ MORE: Michael Jordan celebrates Dwight Freeney making Hall of Fame

Michael Jordan is competing in a fishing tournament in Maryland this week - and the NBA legend has been spotted puffing on a cigar on his $8million superyacht, Catch 23.

The 61-year-old Jordan - who was recently on vacation in Europe - was pictured with his crew on board the yacht during the White Marlin Open in Ocean City.

The competition lasts for four days through to August 9 and Jordan's team apparently caught the heaviest Mahi Mahi so far in the tournament as of Tuesday night.

At the time of writing, his Catch 23 vessel is listed as having caught a mahi weighing 32.5lbs, with Patrick Fields listed as the successful angler. According to delmarvanow.com, he made the catch with only 45 minutes left on day two.

There is an $8million prizefund on offer for the competing teams - loose change for Jordan, who has an estimated worth of $3.2billion.

According to reports, Jordan flew via private jet to Salisbury on Sunday night, with airport only 30 miles away from Ocean City.

Jordan's Catch 23 is a stunning yacht. It has a maximum speed of 40 knots and can accommodate eight guests and a crew of two.

It was built in 2018, weighs 103 tonnes and reportedly costs in the region of $800,000 to run each year. It reportedly has  a 216 square-foot cockpit for deep fishing, too.

The White Marlin Open has been held annually in Maryland since 1974 and is open to all anglers.

Last weekend, Jordan was also pictured celebrating Dwight Freeney making the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Freeney is now a regular guest at Jordan's ultra-exclusive, invite-only golf course, the Grove XXIII, in Hobe Sound, Florida , according to Golf Digest.

Jordan, who reportedly plays several times a week with the former  Indianapolis Colts  star, even helped orchestrate the surprise reveal that Freeney would be named to the Hall of Fame.

The former basketball player schemed with ex-Colts coach Tony Dungy to set up a fake photoshoot at his golf club, where Dungy was secretly waiting with the good news.

Prior to that Jordan has been living it up over the past couple of months with Prieto, his wife of 11 years.

Their getaway across the pond began  in Ibiza, where they were joined by  his mother Deloris, brothers James Jr. and Larry, and his sister Roslyn.

The group continued their European adventure in Portofino, Italy before returning back to the United States.
