• If you plan your next BVI yacht charter with a catamaran, there are direct flights to Beef Island airport or Ferry from St Thomas.
• Most travelers prefer to fly to St Thomas  and take a water taxi (we assist and help arrange). Why – there is a multitude of reasons starting with the price of flights – which are generally cheaper to USVI including a water taxi and ending with BVI airport having 2.5/5 reviews with most reviewers complaining about lack of AC and immigration procedures (sometimes too relaxed, other times unpleasantly meticulous). Island Time is a feature, not a bug.

• Start your charter at Nanny Cay Marina on Tortola Island—the central point of any BVI charter. This well-equipped marina has a nice restaurant and the famous beach bar Peg Legs (have a Dark&Stormy) in the British Virgin Islands.

Where to Go on a BVI Catamaran Charter

Most BVI catamaran charters depart from Nanny Cay , island hopping along Treasure Island, Norman Island, Peter Island, and Cooper Island on their way to Virgin Gorda . Depending on the weather, Anegada is often included. This catamaran charter route will cover the key attractions of the British Virgin Islands.

When on the way back, return via the Nort side of Tortola , hitting Cane Garden Bay and continuing to Jost Van Dyke – coming back through Sopers Hole .

If you finish your catamaran charter on Tortola, you can depart at the Hodges Creek marina and catch your flight from Beef I sland Airport .

If you are approaching from USVI – crossing Jost Van Dyke or Tortola, you must pass customs first. However, the bigger crewed catamarans often move to Exumas for the summer.

Start off your trip on a beautiful Tortola catamaran rental . After spending a day or two exploring the major landmarks, it’s time to set sail on one of our great BVI boat charters. Built to a high German standard in Germany itself, Maverick has a roller furling main and genoa, with all control lines easy to hand in the cockpit. The genoa winches have been moved aft to ensure easy trimming by the helm or crew, meaning you can be under full sail in just a few minutes. As the 34 carries her beam well aft, she benefits from twin wheels – great for helming visibility, with the added bonus of direct access to the transom swim platform, without any clambering around a single wheel. A full Garmin electronics suite, including a cockpit chart plotter, makes navigation a breeze.

Below decks, Maverick has beautiful Sipo Mahogany joinery and finishings, light oak-colored cabin sole, and cream real leather upholstery. The galley, with stove, hob, and fridge is to starboard and with three surprisingly generous double cabins, there is more than enough room for family and friends. The  Jeanneau Cruiser 490 ‘After Physics’  is a sleek modern cruising yacht available for charter in the British Virgin Islands with Horizon Yacht Charters.

This state-of-the-art Jeanneau 490 has a sleek metallic blue-grey hull with white cove and double boot stripes, white decks, and a light bright oak interior. Ample hatches, ports, and deadlights for a clean airy modern interior. The Jeanneau 490 sleeps 6 in three cabins with two heads and has 2 additional berths if the dinette is converted. There is a U-shaped galley forward of the navigation station on the port side which features deep double sinks, a 3 burner LPG stove with oven, a large refrigerator with double access from the counter and front door, a large freezer drawer, a microwave, a clever flush dish & glass storage cabinets, and trash receptacle. The Nautitech 44 Open is the latest design in the Nautitech lineup to get really excited about!

This new design builds on the successful Nautitech ‘Open’ concept and so delivers a ‘wide grin’ sailing performance. The 44 Open is probably the fastest cruising catamaran available for a bareboat charter. She can point higher than any other cruising cat (that does not have daggerboards -which consume interior space), thanks to her high aspect sail plan, tight sheeting angles, high aspect rudders, a draft of 4ft 9“and an excellent sail area to displacement ratio. The Open 44 remains stable, comfortable, and downright fun to sail on and off the wind.

Optimized cruising speeds are a result of the low wetted surface area enabled by narrow, hydrodynamic hulls below the waterline. While the hard-chined stepped hulls above the waterline give more interior living space.

You have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea thanks to the double aft helm station positions; you can communicate and enjoy the sailing with all the crew members in the cockpit.

In a change from the design of the Open 40, the lower mainsheet track positioning is easy to adjust and see for perfect sail trim from the helm station. A low boom above the coach roof allows for extra efficiency from the mainsail, more sail area and easy access to the sail bag. The high aspect furling, and self-tacking jib, with all control lines led aft to electric winches for both sails, means the 44 Open is a breeze to sail short-handed.

There is rich joinery in the interior of the 44 Open which gives a warm and modern ambience aboard. The cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon (the ethos of the Open concept) giving you the ideal indoor/outdoor living space for a yacht in the tropics. The galley conjoins the saloon and cockpit, so matter where the crew are, the chef is part of the socialising. The interior saloon area is cosy and offers a modular seating arrangement with cushioned cubes that can be moved around into a day bed, a footrest, or stools. 

With the almost 360-degree view from the entrance of the saloon, you can happily escape (rare!) inclement weather or socialize at the cockpit table whilst still keeping an eye on your surroundings.

Thanks to a double-drawer fridge, cockpit fridge and freezer unit, there is excellent fridge capacity aboard.

Both hulls feature 2 cabins. The aft cabin has a queen-sized island bed and the forward cabin has a forward-facing double bed.

The seamlessly integrated companionway benefits from extra storage lockers. Both hulls have separate shower units and toilets allowing for easy living between guests. The toilet unit also has its own hand basin.

There is an integrated solar array on the coach roof as well as solar panels mounted on the dinghy davits. This removes the requirement to run your engine or generator to charge the lithium batteries on board on sunny days.
