cascade36_sailorI have just bought a Cascade 36 hull # 8 and I am looking for advice on some how too's lol this seems to be a very good boat very solid and very affordable. if this is still active please message back I am looking to chat about this topic. I've got a good friend who has owned one for a few decades. I crewed on it from Tonga to Fiji to NZ and Hawaii, plus a few other places. Never let us down. If you message me your email address i'll send it to him. Can't promise he'll answer but will ask. Thank you so much My email address is top priority real estate @ gmail.com for some reason it wont let me put it as a link in here but if you take all the spaces out it should work lol .. thank you again! sure, I passed it on. Don't know if he'll contact you or not. Where are you? Since Cascades were built in Portland OR there are a bunch in that area. Rose City Yacht club has a few. That was the home port of Raindrop which won the Pacific Cup back a few years. I considered buying one as they are such a great deal. I think the value is hit hard by the fact that many were not finished very well below decks as they were kind of a "kit" boat. But I've seen some that are really very nice. Having made my sea bones on one leaves a special place in my heart. Also there is a premium boat works guy in the Portland area that has done mods on many Cascades, like extending the transom and dog houses. Tommy Becker. He does fantastic work. Thank you! I am located in Michigan the Tawas area i have recently purchased the boat from New Hampshire. The inside is amazing mahogany wood that is finished as beautiful as you can imagine. I will post some pictures on here. I am so great full that you have helped me find the right people Thank you so much! FRANK COLISTROfreetosail said: I've spotted myself a Cascade 36' that I'm interested in purchasing. Re: Just bought my first sailboat! 1980 Cascade 27'. It has been said that an old lady in a bath tub can make the trip from California to Hawaii and never even have to carry a GPS or navigate at all. Every twenty minutes there is a plane flying from the US to Hawaii, so all one must do is follow their path. hard aground with sails set.
Bought a 27' Cascade about a month ago and have been out nearly every night. I sail the South Puget Sound in Washington State and was wondering anyone's thoughts and opinions on these Cascades. Personally I fell in love with the boat. Easy for one man to handle and apparently the builders were known for their bulletproof hulls.
It takes into consideration "reported" sail area, displacement and length at waterline. The higher the number the faster speed prediction for the boat. A cat with a number 0.6 is likely to sail 6kts in 10kts wind, a cat with a number of 0.7 is likely to sail at 7kts in 10kts wind. KSP = (Lwl*SA÷D)^0.5*0.5
An example of a Cascade 27 boat is Skylark, a 1983 model currently for sale. It is decked out with a slightly wider than standard cabin house and a Universal M2-12, 11-horsepower diesel engine. The owners allegedly took Skylark to Hawaii and back, and a custom trailer makes the Sea of Cortez and inland waters all that more accessible. ...
Fin keel. The Cascade 27 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel. The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. Posts: 93. Thoughts on this Cascade 29. As many of you know, I am in the market for my second boat. I came across this one today on craigslist. My research seems to show that these cascades if finished right, are great boats. This one looks to be a great boat. It says finished in 2002 but not sure when the hull was sold.
