In 1957 began the Jeanneau adventure when Henri Jeanneau won his first race with the wooden hull he built. And this marked the start of his newly found trade. In the early 60’s, fibreglass made its debut and enabled Jeanneau to start building yachts in series. But it was not until the 70’s that the shipyard made a proper start in the design and construction of cruising sailboats with the amazing Sangria, and then the Melody in 1976. The Jeanneau boatyards have benefited from the expertise of world-renowned architects to focus on creating increasingly innovative, efficient and safe yachts, thus contributing to the democratisation of pleasure cruising and power boating. As a result, Sun Odyssey, Sun fast, Cap Camarat or Merry Fisher are lines for which Jeanneau is now famous.

Sailboat Review: Jeanneau Yachts 55
- By Mark Pillsbury
- April 26, 2024
One way to gauge the relative success of a production sailboat is to look at the size of the model’s run: the quantity of hulls sold or the number of years it was offered. After investing in research and development, not to mention tooling and marketing, a company needs to spread those costs over as many boats as possible. To be a winner, a new model should be versatile and appeal to as many buyers as possible. Often, this means multiple layouts and options to meet the needs (and budgets) of private owners and charter companies.
But for the latest sailboat in the Jeanneau Yachts range, the French builder decided to focus primarily on owners. This 55-footer has a layout that borrows concepts more often found on midsize multihulls. There are spacious accommodations for the owner, separate staterooms where guests can come and go without disturbing one another, multiple places to gather or find privacy, and protected spots to navigate and spend time off watch—without having to be down below.
The result is a very different sort of sailboat. In fact, it would be safe to say that Cruising World ’s Boat of the Year judging team had never seen anything quite like it when we arrived for a dockside inspection during the Annapolis Boat Show this past October in Maryland. In the end, we obviously approved of the concept. The Jeanneau Yachts 55 not only earned the title of Best Full-Size Cruiser, but it also it went on to take top honors as the 2024 Boat of the Year .
With so much that’s new and different about the 55, let’s start with what you discover the moment you board using the fold-down swim platform. You then step up to encounter a living/lounging/working area that starts at the transom and stretches forward to take up nearly half the boat’s topsides. The builder calls it a dual-cockpit layout, but that barely begins to describe all that’s going on there.
Two cushioned seating areas—one is U-shaped to starboard, and the other is an upside-down L-shape to port that opens up a walk-through path for boarding—are located across the transom. Each one surrounds a table that can be lowered to create party-size sun lounges. With the boat’s beam of 16 feet, 4 inches, that’s a lot of room to kick back and relax.
Under the port seats, there’s life-raft storage, and between the tables, there’s access to a garage below the deck. It could handle toys, an inflatable or even a Tiwal sailing tender.
Between the lounges and the pair of helm stations located just forward of them, there’s access on either side of the boat to the walk-around side decks that have become a Jeanneau trademark.
A fiberglass cockpit arch rises up just forward of the steering wheels. On the boat we visited in Annapolis, it connected an optional hard spray hood that covered the forward portion of the cockpit and main companionway, and a hard Bimini top (also an option) that protected the aft area. The Bimini had a nifty sliding fabric panel in the middle that could be opened for sun and stars, or shut for shade and rain.
Two more companionways are just under the arch, providing access to two private port and starboard guest staterooms. We’ll get to them in a minute. But first, let’s complete the tour of the topsides.
Tucked up forward, under the rigid spray hood, there is another smaller table to starboard with U-shaped seating around it. Call it a breakfast nook or a fine spot to sit and enjoy a book, no matter the weather outside. It’s opposite a forward-facing navigation desk with a chart plotter. Here, a watchkeeper is protected from the elements but still has a clear view all around.
Much like on a catamaran, there’s a provision for another cushioned lounge area on the broad foredeck, giving guests another place to enjoy the great outdoors.
The 55’s interior accommodations, designed by Andrew Winch, are just as unique as those found topsides. The builder describes the layout as being “owners first.”
I mentioned that two guest staterooms are accessible only from the cockpit. These give the crew (and owners) privacy that’s not possible on a conventional monohull, where all of the staterooms open into the salon.
To port is a VIP stateroom with en suite head and shower, and enough additional space to allow for a small sitting area with a desk or vanity. The starboard guest stateroom, also with en suite head and shower, is a bit smaller because of the location of the galley in the salon, but it still has a double berth. Both staterooms have 6-foot-5-inch headroom.
Stepping down the main companionway and into the salon and master stateroom, the first thought that comes to mind is that it resembles an efficiency or one-bedroom condo in some urban center. In fact, two-thirds of the interior space is intended for those paying the bills. A dining area with L-shaped seating takes up the port side of the salon, with a large-screen television mounted on the forward bulkhead for movie nights.
A galley is opposite, with an island counter amidships, giving the cook a solid place to brace while preparing meals underway.
Ports in the cabin top and hull let in loads of light, and white walls and overhead panels help keep things bright. The boat we sailed had teak-colored Alpi bulkheads and furniture; white oak is another option.
The owner’s stateroom is forward, through double doors. A double berth is offset to port, with lockers and a sitting area to starboard. A spacious head and shower compartment is farther forward.
Depending on how an owner plans to use the boat, the forepeak can be either a sail locker or a crew cabin.
Buyers also have options when it comes to a standard keel (8-foot) or shoal draft foil (6-foot-2-inch), and either a standard in-mast furling rig or a performance spar with full-batten main. The boat we sailed had the former, coupled with a versatile three-headsail sail plan that included a self-tending jib to simplify tacking upwind, an overlapping genoa for light-air days (both with electric furlers), and a downwind sail that’s flown from a continuous-line furler.
For motoring, the 55 is equipped with a 110 hp Yanmar diesel with a shaft drive and a three-blade Flexofold prop—and a bow thruster for close-quarters maneuvering. If I had to pick a nit, it would be engine access, which was through a hatch in the cockpit sole. It seemed adequate enough, though not necessarily convenient.
Loaded up with electronics and options, the price tag on the 55 in Annapolis was right around $1.4 million. That included Jeanneau’s Seanapps system, which provides remote boat monitoring, alerts and maintenance recommendations.
Underway, I found the 55 comfortable. The walk-around decks made it easy and safe to move about, and when I wasn’t doing the sailing, there were numerous places to relax and take in the sights.
When my turn came at the wheel, visibility all around was excellent, and electric winches made trimming sails effortless during singlehanded maneuvers. Steering by hand, you can stand inboard, out of the elements, or step out onto the side deck to feel the breeze in your face as you lean an arm over the stainless-steel life rail that encircles the cockpit.
Our test sail took place on Chesapeake Bay in variable conditions that ranged from nearly no breeze to gusts well into the high teens. Tacking in light air—about 5 knots or less—boatspeed was 3 to 4 knots. Later, reaching in 17- to 20-knot puffs, we trucked along effortlessly at 7-plus knots. Some boats do well in light air; some like big wind. The 55 lit right up in both. No wonder it’s a winner.
Designing Outside the Box
A casual sailor walking the docks at a boat show could be excused for thinking that these days, new boats all look pretty much alike. Sure, “innovations” are introduced annually, but a barbecue grill built into the transom or two cockpit tables instead of one are hardly radical innovations. And chines in the hull? Yup, pretty much everybody’s got ’em too now.
But in fall 2023, there wasn’t any other new sailboat introduced to North America that looked anything like the Jeanneau Yachts 55.
When the concept for the boat began to take shape under the shadow of the pandemic, Erik Stromberg, currently the vice president of power and motor yacht development at Jeanneau, was still a sailboat guy and leader of the design team. Tasked with coming up with a sistership for the Jeanneau Yachts 60 and 65, his logical step might have been to simply scale things down. And in fact, designer Philippe Briand did just that.
But the design team also asked, “What happens if you take a 55-foot boat and design it the way people actually use and live on the boat?” Stromberg says. Answering that question led them down a concurrent conceptual path—still toward a big, elegant cruising yacht, but one with more protection and bigger spaces to live in on deck, not to mention a different approach to staterooms that might not be used all the time.
Briand and interior designer Andrew Winch listened to the ideas and went to work.
Ironically, this owner-focused boat drew inspiration from an earlier Jeanneau model called the Sun Loft 47, a six-stateroom vessel designed strictly for Yacht Week events in Europe, where charterers pack the boat with as many people as possible. To make room for six staterooms belowdecks, the galley and entertaining area on the Sun Loft were moved topsides. With the onset of COVID-19, though, chartering shut down, and demand for the Sun Loft waned.
Stromberg says that so far, Jeanneau has orders for more than 30 of the 55s, and the boat is showing broad appeal in Europe and Asia. Here in the States, two were sold during the show in Annapolis—one to a couple who plans to go cruising with their 10-year-old daughter, and another to a couple on the Great Lakes who want a boat to sail and entertain friends. A third is under consideration by a couple of engineers who want to have their offices on board.
Stromberg says that the yard can build 17 or 18 boats a year, and the production run should fall somewhere in the 60- to 70-boat range. He calls the Yachts 55 an interesting project, the challenge being to stay within the limits of what has to work on a sailboat while still being creative.
“We need to keep innovating,” Stromberg says.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350: setting new standards
- Rupert Holmes
- September 13, 2024
Testing a pre-production prototype of Jeanneau’s new 33-footer, Rupert Holmes finds a boat that sets a whole raft of new standards

Product Overview
This all-new design by the Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group has 15cm more beam than the Sun Odyssey 349 it replaces and wider forward sections.
This gives additional interior volume, as well as space for what has become Jeanneau’s trademark walk-around side decks. Form stability is also improved.
Don’t be fooled by the boat’s name – hull length is 9.99m – so it’s less than 33ft. Yet it offers as much space and speed as many older 38-footers.
Light airs performance of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350
For my first day on board, we had light airs, with a maximum true wind speed of only 6.6 knots.
However, we were still able to sail, reaching a boat speed of around 4.5 knots using the Code 0 at true wind angles of around 60-90°.
Bearing away to 140° caused a big drop in apparent wind, with speed falling to 3.2 knots.

Despite the light airs, the boat still felt responsive, with a positive feel to the helm, while the twin rudders mean the steering is always light, even when pressed.
I tend to rail against the long-running trend to fit smaller boats with wheel steering . It’s complex, expensive, heavy, and usually unnecessary.
However, it’s more understandable with this boat than with many others.
For a start, it feels a lot longer than the hull length suggests, and twin wheels fit with the style of the range’s larger boats in a coherent manner.
On my second day aboard, sailing upwind in 6-9 knots of true breeze we consistently made 60 to 65% of the true wind speed, averaging around 4-5 knots of boat speed with occasional bursts of 5.5 knots in the stronger gusts; this was at a relatively wide true wind angle of 55°, largely as a result of the coachroof-mounted mainsheet bridle, which means it’s not possible to sheet the boom to the centreline in lighter winds.
Bearing away with a true wind of 5-6 knots on the beam, though the apparent still well forward, we made respectable progress for such light airs at around 4.5 knots boat speed.
Instead of a longitudinal track for headsail sheet cars, this boat has a three-dimensional sheeting arrangement that gives precise control over the position of the clew of the sail.
Broad reaching with the Code 0 in less than 5 knots of true wind, yet still making 3-3.5 knots of boat speed. Credit: Rupert Holmes
It’s perfect for controlling twist, and moving the sheeting position outboard when close reaching.
In addition to facilitating more efficient sail trim, the arrangement also needs less reinforcement in the deck moulding than a conventional genoa car track, thus saving weight.
The designers and Jeanneau worked hard to keep the weight down compared to other similar-sized cruising yachts.
The benefits of this undoubtedly show in the yacht’s light airs performance.
This doesn’t appear to have been achieved through compromising on stability by shaving weight off the bulb of the keel , so owners can also expect their boats to take more challenging conditions in their stride.
Eric Levett of Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group also tells me they “put a lot of work into defining the position of the chine,” balancing a desire to reduce wetted surface area in light airs, without compromising the increase in stability gained once the chine is immersed when the boat is heeled.
Stable performance of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350
The rig is further aft in the boat compared to the 349, which gives a larger headsail, as well as bigger Code 0 and asymmetric spinnakers to promote speed in light airs, while the optional square top mainsail retains sail area despite a shorter boom.
When the wind increased to 10 knots true, we were sailing at a spirited 7 knots with the Code 0, yet still only a very modest heel angle and the helm still finger light, underscoring just how much stability this boat has.
The test boat, which has an optional wooden deck (made of iroko as it is a more sustainable option than teak) had effective wooden foot chocks at the helm stations for use when the boat is heeled.
By the time we needed to return to port the true wind was down to less than 5 knots.
Naturally, you can’t sail dead downwind at useful speeds in such light airs, as the apparent wind quickly trends towards zero.
A large headsail, Code 0 and asymmetric spinnakers are possible on the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350. Credit: Gilles Martin-Raget
However, by gybing through angles of around 80° between broad reaches using the Code 0 (there was no asymmetric spinnaker on board), we progressed at 3-3.5 knots in a very relaxed fashion.
While a deft race crew can gybe a Code 0 easily, especially in light conditions, those more cautious can easily furl it first to take the risk out of the manoeuvre.
My test boat was fitted with the optional performance pack, including a square top mainsail and jib in Dimension Polyant’s DCX cruise laminate.
It has the standard 2.0m draught keel, though a 1.5m shoal draught version is available as an option, as is a hydraulic lifting keel.
This has a minimum draught of 1.3m when raised and 2.3m when fully lowered, which should be very efficient when sailing upwind.
The downside is a considerable additional cost. Increasing the aft sweep of the spreaders to 30° eliminates the need for a standing backstay.
Neat rope bags on the coachroof of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350. Credit: Rupert Holmes
This allows a square top mainsail to be fitted, thus increasing sail area, without the need for running backstays.
It also, in effect, frees up space at the back of the cockpit.
An optional removable staysail is expected to be specified by around 40% of private owners, especially in France where the benefits are widely understood.
It markedly improves efficiency when sailing to windward in a stiff breeze compared to a deeply reefed roller headsail , thereby reducing the amount of time spent in uncomfortable conditions.
There’s also a second important benefit when the staysail is used while reaching with an asymmetric spinnaker or Code 0 sail, as it helps to improve the boat’s balance.
This makes it less likely to round up in big gusts and easier to steer, both by a human driver and the pilot. Impressively, the walk-around side decks that have been a key feature of the range since first appearing on the Sun Odyssey 440 back in 2017 are the same size as those of the Sun Odyssey 380 .
They consist of a gentle ramp going forward from the helm station on each side of the boat, leading up to the foredeck.
Side deck ramp gives access to the foredeck. Credit: Rupert Holmes
This gives easy access forward, the only drawback being you first have to walk behind the helm to get to the side decks.
The arrangement also effectively creates a safe area with very deep bulwarks for working the primary winches.
Cockpit benches are just under 6ft long and have very comfortable angles for the backrests and the aft end of the coachroof is comfortable to lean against.
Our test boat was also fitted with a substantial wooden cockpit table. One downside, however, is there’s only provision to mount instruments or an MFD/chart plotter at the helm stations.
That’s a problem when using an autopilot and can be inconvenient when the skipper or navigator is not on the helm, though this could be mitigated with a tablet and waterproof mount on the aft coachroof bulkhead or cockpit table.
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350
Three-cabin boats have a useful small cockpit locker above the aft cabins.
The lid is held open with gas struts and they’re an ideal size for mooring lines, shore power cable and other relatively small items.
Two- cabin boats also have a very large locker to port, with access both from the cockpit and internally via the separate shower compartment aft of the heads.
There are also two lazarette lockers, including one for a liferaft that’s easy to launch when the transom bathing platform is lowered.
This significantly increases cockpit space when at anchor or moored stern to.
When raised it also effectively creates additional protection at the aft end of the cockpit.
The integrated bowsprit is longer than that of the 349, and incorporates a bow roller and anchor stowage, while the deep chain locker at the front of the foredeck is fitted with an electric windlass.
High standards
The interior of the Sun Odyssey 349 was already spacious, but the new boat benefits from the extra hull volume created by the increased beam that’s carried further forward, creating a wider saloon and forecabin.
There’s also a few centimetres more headroom, while both natural and artificial lighting have been improved.
Beyond this, however, few big changes have been made.
Nevertheless, the three-cabin version has a reasonable amount of standing/changing space in each cabin – an unusual achievement in a boat with a hull length under 10m.
My test boat was a two-cabin version, which gains a big cockpit locker mentioned earlier, while the heads compartment is larger, with a dedicated shower stall.
Three-cabin boats have a smaller aft heads without a separate shower area.
The increased beam means the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350 has a wider saloon and forecabin. Credit: Antoine Guilliou
On both layouts the large forward cabin has double doors in the bulkhead to the saloon, creating a semi-open plan layout.
With these closed, there’s still good standing space aft of the berth and full-height stowage on each side.
Two new hull windows improve the natural light here and give views of the outside world in picturesque harbours and anchorages.
The galley is efficiently arranged with a large fridge, several lockers outboard and a cabinet with shelves and cutlery drawer, although there’s only a single sink and fixed worktop space is limited.
The area under the sink, all too often wasted space, is well laid out with a pair of bins and pullout baskets for cleaning materials and so on.
The standard of finish and materials have been improved too, including Corian galley countertops.
My test boat has an upgraded interior package that includes fabric finishes for the bulkheads, the idea being they can create a bright yet warm interior without the clinical feeling that can be associated with extensive areas of white paint or mouldings.
Overall it works well, though I’d likely choose the standard timber bulkhead, especially for a boat based in UK waters.
Light and airy
On three-cabin boats, the aft cabins are of equal size and are surprisingly spacious, given the ramp that gives almost level access to the side decks hardly appears to impinge on volume.
As a by-product, this allows for an additional third opening port, improving natural light and ventilation.
Two-cabin boats gain from a slightly wider berth that occupies almost all the width of the cockpit well.
As standard, the boat has a small aft-facing chart table at the back of the port settee that’s the same size as those found on the 380 and 410, though the test boat had a longer settee instead.
Both settees would make good sea berths if fitted with leecloths.
Engine installation with good sound deadening. Credit: Rupert Holmes
Saloon stowage is now more accessible and there are also stowage areas under several sections of the floor.
The engine installation appears neatly executed, is well insulated and provides reasonably easy access for servicing.
The standard engine is upgraded compared to the 349 with a 29hp Yanmar diesel engine with shaft drive and an optional three-bladed folding propeller on our test boat.
Handling under power poses no surprises to anyone accustomed to twin rudder boats.
There is very little prop walk and steerage way is gained quickly in reverse, though of course, you don’t get the benefit of propwash over the rudders when engaging forward thrust.
Production versions of the 350 are built in Poland at the Beneteau Group’s Delphia facility, using the same production line as the existing Beneteau Oceanis 34.1, one of the closest competitors for this model.
Jeanneau is aiming to produce 100 to 150 boats annually, which would roughly match the 1,500 Sun Odyssey 349s sold over 10 years.
Extra toolings is poised to come on line, which would result in an extra boat per week.
Verdict on the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350
Jeanneau has a long history of producing spacious yachts that often have a little more performance and better-handling characteristics than some competitors.
This boat follows firmly in that spirit and is a good choice for anyone looking for a yacht that’s comfortable, easy to handle and rewarding to sail.
The three-cabin version in particular packs a lot of accommodation into a boat of this size and in many ways vies with many larger designs.
The only downside is the limited on-deck stowage, but that’s not an issue on two-cabin variants.
In both cases, many potential buyers of the larger Sun Odyssey 380 (hull length 35ft 4in) may find the smaller boat meets their needs perfectly.
While Jeanneau bills the 350 as a starter boat, in reality, there are many owners who have no desire for a larger vessel, and it’s also a good choice for experienced boat owners who’d like the benefits of the latest developments in yacht design.

Note: There may have been a larger range of Corail's than listed. Specifications not available for models including: Corail 250, Corail 270, Corail 290, Corail 300, Corail 320 & Corail 350.
Similarly some of the Clear Liner range of French sportboats may also have marketed by Jeanneau at some stage.
The Balt sportsboats including the Balt 400, produced in Poland may have been marketed by Jeanneau for a period.
Jeanneau Canada produced some Dorals, some of which may have been imported into Europe for a time. These may include: Doral 170, Doral 185, Doral 200, Doral 216, Doral 230, Doral 250, Doral 270, Doral 300SC and Doral 300SE.
Alternative Model Names
Jeanneau model names have only been relatively straightforward since the mid nineteen nighties, the naming systems used previously were extensive, complex and at times bizarre, with even some sister models having different branding. Further complexity occurs as some former Jeanneau models were also produced under licence with yet more new names, whilst many charter fleets use their own naming systems.
Some are significantly different versions, that whilst using the same basic hull and deck layouts may have substantially different rig and keel configurations, mostly evidently seen in the 1995 - 2006 Sun Fast and Sun Odyssey ranges. Others represent evolution of design such as the Arcadia developing through the Sun Dream to become the Sun Way 28. In Norway several models were for a time marketed under the umbrella range of "Rush" possibly to build on the success of the original Ron Holland designed Jeanneau Rush 31.
Most of the more recent numerous Sun Fast - Sun Odyssey - Sun Odyssey DS (Deck Saloon) variants are omitted in the list below for clarity.
Some of the powerboat models have similarly had occasional alter ego's. During the 1960's many models were for a short period branded as "Meteors" for example; the Loup de Mer was rebranded as the Meteor C360. More recently in North America the Merry Fisher range has been badged as a part of the NC range and some Cap Camarat's as part of an extended Leader brand.

During the nineteen eighties Jeanneau developed the specialist racing division Jeanneau Techniques Avancées (JTA), who were also responsible for the development of the Lagoon range of catamarans. Jeanneau conquers new markets: all the latest additions from Cannes 2024
- Alessandro Giuzio
- September 13, 2024
Jeanneau presented four new boat models at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival, marking an important year of transition following a record-breaking 2023 and looking ahead to expansion in 2025. The French shipyard, part of the Bénéteau Group, showcased five sailboats and nine motorboats at the festival, including two new versions and two brand-new models.
“Our current trend is increasingly focused on meeting the needs of owners who are asking for customized boats developed according to their specific requirements – explained Samuel Dubois , Chief Sales Officer of Jeanneau, during the press conference held on Wednesday, September 11, at the Cannes Yachting Festival – In doing so, we are leveraging the strength of our extensive network of dealers across Europe. This component is part of our DNA, and the shipyard’s growth is closely tied to collaboration with our dealers. Together with them, we are working to provide ever-improving experiences to our loyal customers”.
Jeanneau is determined to increase the number of owners choosing its boats worldwide, and the new models presented at Cannes are aimed precisely in this direction. The shipyard has a strong presence in Southern Europe (particularly in Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Greece, as well as in France, of course), while “the North is a more challenging area” , Dubois noted. Additionally, the brand is working on expanding into Asia and North America, “ which are two very large and interesting markets”. Strategic decisions have been made to launch motorboats like the Merry Fisher 895 Sport Series 2 , specifically designed for navigation in colder environments and for sporting and fishing activities, and the Sun Odyssey 350, the smallest in the range, catering to those looking for easier-to-manage hulls at more accessible prices. These two brand-new models are complemented by the two new versions of the Cap Camarat 10.5 WA and 12.5 WA, which have undergone an interesting restyling.
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350: the easy and accessible sailboat
As mentioned, Jeanneau has expressed its intention to expand into the smaller hull segment, “to allow more and more people to go to sea”, said Dubois. “The market is demanding small to medium-sized boats, and we are responding to that demand”. With this goal in mind, they developed the Sun Odyssey 350 , the smallest model in a range that already includes the 380, 410, 440, and 490.
First unveiled at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, where it was met with great success, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 350 has quickly become one of the shipyard’s most popular models, earning a nomination for the title of “European Yacht of the Year 2025”. It is a sailboat that features characteristics typically found on motorboats, thanks to the mattresses and cushions on deck, which provide comfortable and relaxing areas.
With the Sun Odyssey 350, Jeanneau has shown that sailing is not incompatible with a luxurious lifestyle , as it successfully combines the sailing experience with the comfort of motor yachts. Featuring a new hull design, the Sun Odyssey 350 has an elegant and modern look, with a wide beam that makes it easy to maneuver in port and to tack in light winds. Its performance and flexibility at the helm set it apart from its predecessor, while innovations like the sloped side decks improve life in the cockpit, making movement and maneuvers easier without creating obstacles onboard. The spaces below deck are surprisingly spacious and comfortable, making the Sun Odyssey 350 ideal for long cruises, despite its small size.
The new motorboats on display
Regarding motorboats, Jeanneau launched the new Merry Fisher 895 Sport Series 2 at Cannes. This boat is specifically designed for adventure and for those who primarily enjoy life outdoors, without neglecting the interior spaces. The classic version of the Merry Fisher 895 was well-received by the market, prompting the French shipyard to develop the Sport version, which features significant improvements, especially in the master cabin, now more comfortable and spacious.
The Merry Fisher 895 Sport Series 2 is fully modular, with foldable seats and numerous storage compartments. It boasts a large aft cockpit, making it easy to prepare sports or fishing gear, as well as an asymmetric layout with a recessed starboard walkway for safer movements and maneuvers. However, the most valuable innovation is the large starboard housing door, a rather rare feature on boats of this size, which simplifies loading equipment and accessing the water. Lastly, at the stern, a large module offers various options for storage, cooking, a grill, or a live bait well, depending on the owner’s needs.
With the Merry Fisher 895 Sport Series 2, Jeanneau is targeting the North American, Asian, and Northern European markets, where it aims to expand. The spacious cockpit is a highly appreciated feature in the East, while the large windows, designed to protect against cold and water, are essential for colder latitudes. These design elements have also been incorporated into the new versions of the Cap Camarat 10.5 WA and 12.5 WA , both showcased at Cannes, further demonstrating that the French shipyard is making serious strides in these markets.
