The 56.2m/184'5" motor yacht 'Paris' (ex. Katamarino) was built by Amels in the Netherlands at their Makkum shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Struik & Hamerslag and she was delivered to her owner in June 1991. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Jack Hargrave and she was last refitted in 1994.

Paris has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests in 8 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 13 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Paris is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512B) 12-cylinder 1,501hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 15,547 nautical miles from her 180,000 litre fuel tanks at 14 knots. Ce vendredi 23 août, les garde-côtes italiens ont annoncé avoir récupéré le corps d’Hannah Lynch, morte dans le naufrage du Bayesian, le luxueux yacht échoué au large de la Sicile. Une opération qui s'est avéré délicate.

En lançant, ce vendredi 23 août au matin, la nouvelle opération de recherche pour retrouver le corps d’Hannah Lynch, 18 ans, les garde-côtes italiens avait annoncé que cette mission s’annonçait « longue et délicate ». Et pour cause, selon Sky News , de nombreux débris bloqueraient l’accès à certaines zones du Bayesian et notamment celle où se trouverait celle qui devait faire sa rentrée à Oxford en septembre.

Le super-yacht de 56 mètres de long se trouve à 50 mètres sous la mer. Une profondeur qui implique que les secouristes ne peuvent passer qu’environ 12 minutes sous l’eau à chaque plongée, avec un maximum de 10 minutes de temps de recherche réel. Des recherches qui se font dans l’obscurité quasi-totale et surtout qui se heurtent à de nombreux obstacles : l’accès à certaines cabines est ainsi totalement entravé par des meubles. C'est le cas pour celle de la jeune Hannah Lynch. 

Ils ont tenté de fuir

« Se déplacer d’un seul mètre peut prendre jusqu’à 24 heures », résume Luca Cari, porte-parole des pompiers, auprès de nos confrères. Pourtant, la quarantaine de secouristes mobilisés ont décidé de ne pas se concentrer uniquement sur le fait d’accéder à la cabine d’Hannah Lynch, car les cinq autres victimes retrouvées dans le yacht l’ont été ailleurs que dans leur chambre (et deux d'entre elles se trouvaient bloquées sous des matelas), laissant penser qu’elles ont tenté de fuir en voyant l’eau inonder l’habitacle. 

Et leur intuition a été bonne puisque le corps de la jeune femme a effectivement été retrouvée dans la même zone que ceux de son père, Mike Lynch , son avocat Chris Morvillo et sa femme Neda, ainsi que Jonathan Bloomer et son épouse Judy, en fin de matinée. Depuis, les hommages à « l'amie la plus spéciale que l'on puisse rêver » se multiplient. « Quand je pense à Hannah, je pense à la poésie, au soleil et à ses beaux yeux. Elle était facile à aimer : sincère, dévouée, extrêmement intelligente et vraiment gentille. Je me souviendrai toujours d'elle en train de sourire », a ainsi témoigner une de ses amies au « Daily Mail ». 

Dimanche 18 août au soir, le capitaine du Bayesian avait jeté l’ancre au large de Porticello, à l’est de Palerme. Au moment d’aller se coucher dans leurs cabines, les 12 passagers et 10 membres d’équipage avaient laissé hublots et écoutilles ouverts pour affronter les fortes chaleurs nocturnes. Mais vers 4 heures du matin, le super-yacht a été pris dans une trombe marine et, pour des raisons qui restent à éclaircir, ce dernier a chaviré, se laissant submerger par ses hublots et écoutilles, puis sombré au fond de la Méditerranée. Un naufrage fatal pour sept des passagers.

The Olympics may be over, but we still can’t get enough of the French. A recent report from GlobalData announced that France is on track to become the most visited country by 2025, when 93.7 million international travelers are expected to visit there.

Delta Air Lines offers several options while traveling from Tampa to Paris. I usually stop in Atlanta to connect with Air France for a seamless experience. I recently discovered a “secret” and luxurious way to get to Europe. Friends rave about the 10-year-old French boutique airline called La Compagnie. The flights only depart from Newark Liberty International Airport, but it’s totally worth the trip to New Jersey. Once on board, the plane offers 76 seats that all turn into flatbeds. It’s a business-class airline experience to Paris, Milan or Nice. And the food is marvelous.

For the ultimate Parisian culinary experience, secure a table at Le Jules Verne. Located at the top of the Eiffel Tower, the views are spectacular from this world-famous restaurant. Watch the calendar and make sure to book 90 days in advance and be prepared to pay ahead as well (a $500 deposit is the norm for a table for two). When you factor in the advantage of skipping the long entry line and the overall once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of dining in the Eiffel Tower, the experience is well worth the cost. Perched at a height of 410 feet, you will even have your own private elevator to the restaurant. The dress code, an elegant outfit and no shorts or sportswear, is strictly enforced. Suit jackets are mandatory for men.

Closer to home, Travel + Leisure magazine recently named St. Petersburg the Best Food City in the U.S. We found a tiny slice of Paris in St. Petersburg. When you check in to the newly renovated Vinoy Resort, you’ll be invited on Friday and Saturday from 3-5 p.m. to meet the new executive pastry chef Armand Berger and sample complimentary Champagne and nibbles from Lottie, the new patisserie located in the hotel’s lobby.

Tropic Ocean Airways is the largest commercial amphibious airline and is ready to entertain all Parrotheads. To celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day on Aug. 30, they are launching an epic package with Baker’s Cay Resort, a nature-inspired luxury resort on the Overseas Highway in Key Largo. Inspired by the legendary singer-songwriter, this unique trip offers a fun-filled adventure over Labor Day weekend and includes a one-way Tropic Ocean Airways seaplane adventure for two departing from Sheltair Terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and landing at Baker’s Cay Resort. Great to find out a kids dinner menu is available. Grown-ups will love checking out the resort’s Tavern & Whiskey Bar with over 100 different types of whiskey.

Sports are key here on the Key. Briana François is the director of racquet sports, tennis and pickleball and reports that there are eight new pickleball courts at the resort. They have lessons almost daily. The resort store supports local women-owned vendors. Peaceful tip: Check out the many treatment rooms and new sound therapy beds in the spa. Naps encouraged!
