Cruisers Yachts’ GLS line is at the very forefront of design and performance in the mid-sized, luxury yacht market. The bowriders — which range from 34 to 50 feet — are both fast and agile, but also have an incredible amount of interior volume. The GLS series propulsion ranges from stern drive to triple 600 HP outboard engines hitting top ends well above a sizzling 50 mph. The boats also have beach doors — foldout sections of their gunnels that vastly increase the size of their swim platforms and the connection to the water. This feature greatly enhances a boat’s capabilities as an entertainment platform. GLS models also offer a level of fit and finish that is not seen anywhere else in this size and class of boat.

2021 Cruisers Yachts 42 GLS

Largest in the adventurous GLS series from Cruisers, the new 42 GLS clearly shouts “fun on the water.” Certainly, the most visible features are the twin fold-down beach doors that create a spacious swim and lounge platform aft, complete with rear-facing seating. Swim ladders are on each side, and a shower is hidden for rinse-offs.

The cantilevered hardtop, with large sliding fiberglass sunroof, provides full sun protection, and an optional powered Makefast awning slides from the hardtop to cool the transom beach as well.

The cockpit is unique, with a dinette to starboard that wraps around a custom wood table, while the galley opposite is equipped for entertaining with a grill, fridge drawer, ice maker, sink and storage. Twin bar stools with a counter are thoughtful touches for entertaining.

The skipper enjoys a fully adjustable double bench seat behind a twin all-glass Simrad navigation cluster, with push-button accessory switches and a Mercury joystick for easy maneuvering. Power for the 42 GLS comes from a choice of triple 350 to 450 hp Mercury Verado outboards and, with the midsize 400s, it tops out at 52 mph.

The forward cockpit, separated by a gas-assisted opening windshield panel and a lower air-dam door to protect the cockpit from wind, is another full entertainment area. The U-shaped bow seating showcases a table that converts into a sun pad, Rockford Fosgate speakers with volume controls, and multiple cup holders. The settee also transforms into forward-facing seats with an elbow rest. A hidden anchor locker conceals a Genius anchor windlass, which can be controlled by foot buttons or from the helm.

The cabin is reached through a sliding door with built-in screen, and features a spacious private stateroom with a custom berth, reading lights, and inclined backrests for watching the TV. In the main cabin, a convertible U-shaped dinette becomes a full berth, and both areas enjoy great stowage. The head compartment features a sink, electric toilet and stand-up shower, plus more storage.

A BOW MADE FOR AL FRESCO LIVING

The asymmetrical split-level layout of the bow is designed to maximize space for outdoor living. Up top is an ample cushioned sunbathing area while just below is a versatile al fresco lounge-come-dining zone with a six-person table surrounded by an inviting C-shaped divan.

WAVE WATCHING

The helm area is flanked by windows in the hull that sweep up to gunwale level, creating a visual connection with the exterior environment. This exciting design feature also places the pilot right amongst the action, in the heart of the wake at high speeds, with water rushing by on either side almost as though it were part of the boat’s structure.

VERSATILITY AT ITS UTMOST

The galley is fitted out with a fridge, washing machine, cooktop and plenty of storage. The dinette can be easily converted into a comfortable double bed, sectioned off from the galley by a curtain.

A COMFORT-CENTRIC PHILOSOPHY

The full-size bathroom has a separate closable shower. A generous window allows natural light to illuminate it.

OUR ADVANCED TOOLKIT

The high-performance patented Stepped ‘V’ Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) was developed by Michael Peters and incorporates a classic deep ‘V’ hull with two transverse steps and a central tunnel aft. It is this latter feature that sets it apart from other current stepped deep ‘V’s, with its shallow aft central tunnel increasing the longitudinal stability of the boat in high speed turns and adverse situations. The use of the SVVT hull on the Verve 42 represents the merging of cutting-edge hull forms with advanced outboard engine power and avant-garde concept design and styling. The combination of technologies culminates in a boat that boasts unmatchable performance, manoeuvrability and speed in its class and represents the largest and grandest SVVT pleasure boat available on the market.

Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fiber lamination goes beyond pure performance. The Carbon Tech Generation offers expanded volumes onboard, while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fiber was focused on the upper parts of the yacht, lightening the laminated components by up to 30% and reducing the natural roll momentum up to 15%.

The Verve 42 can reach a top speed of 43 knots and cruises at 32 knots with three 400 hp Mercury outboard engines. It’s the ideal propulsion for dynamic and sporty yachts, such as the new Verve 42, with an unbeatable weight-to-power ratio. The pilot feels effortlessly in command with smooth handling and responsive controls. Low displacement is another important design objective accomplished thanks to this advanced solution.
