There may be a maximum of two transom ports, and they shall not exceed 32 sq. inches area per port. 19.The centerboard trunk shall be constructed of glass reinforced plastic not less than 4.7625 mm (3/16") thick, or 12.70 mm (1/2") solid wood.

Re: Building the Lightning sailboat model (by Dumas) I usually use Resin W from Evostick (Blue bottle) as this has some grab but plenty of positioning time and once dry is both waterproof and stronger than the wood itself. I am also not too keep on superglue on porous (wood) structural joints as in my experience it can be a little brittle.

These pulleys changed to thread through the deck with the pulleys on the underside and the newer fiberglass Lightning's have high tech rigging. Cam cleats were also used on the jib sheets. What I remember most about our Lightning was the rudder. It was solid mahogany with a high gloss varnish finish and needed to be refinished every winter.
