SnowbirD features an exterior design by Cor D. Rover Design and interior design by Michela Reverberri.  David Ostrander is resposible for the styling. Naval architecture and engineering were undertaken by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture.

Built for an experienced yacht owner, SnowbirD accommodates 10 guests across a spacious five-cabin layout, including a full-beam master suite. Designed with the ultimate comfort in mind – and professional charter operations – a crew of 7 ensures an unforgettable experience for all onboard.

The owners of SnowbirD, avid art collectors and investors, made art the fulcrum upon which the entire interior style is based. SnowbirD hosts an array of artworks, with David Ostrander explaining that “art is the purest form of human expression to our family, and it made perfect sense to make this the centrepiece of SnowbirD.”

Hakvoort Yachts for Sale

Situated in the quaint historic city of Monnickendam, on the shores of the IJsselmeer lake about eight miles north of Amsterdam, the Hakvoort shipyard has a century of shipbuilding excellence to its name.

The Hakvoort shipyard prides itself on its traditional values and exquisite craftsmanship. The Hakvoort shipyard partners this with modern technology and selects the finest equipment and fittings for its yacht builds.

Hakvoort builds motor and sailing yachts up to 215 feet (65m) in length, and also has purpose-built facilities for handling major refits. The shipyard is comprised of two enclosed, temperature-controlled docking and construction halls and there is also a metal workshop, office complex and a large quayside operation.

The inherent quality of a Hakvoort-built vessel has helped make the yard a leading name in the marine industry.

Hakvoort offers both full and semi-custom superyacht options, and the yard also operates its own joinery workshops, Unlimited Interiors. The skills of the team at Unlimited Interiors are available on a sub-contractual basis to other yards as well as Hakvoort.

The yard has remained in family hands, passing down from father to son several times, and this creates an immense atmosphere of personal dedication and community at the shipyard.

History of Hakvoort Yachts

Monnickendam, the home of Hakvoort Shipyard, owes its name to the monks who built a dam there back in the 12th century. Monnickendam was granted city rights in 1355 and by the 1600s had become a prominent port with the shipping industry and related trade flourishing.

In 1919, the entrepreneur Albert Klzn Hakvoort purchased a shipyard that had launched its first vessel over a century before, back in 1780. Albert lay the foundations of a thriving business that restored an industry of shipbuilding to the Dutch city of Monnickendam.

The earliest constructions at the Hakvoort yard were fishing boats and over time they began to build pleasure yachts as the marine leisure market grew.

The yard has continued to remain in family hands throughout the decades, passing from father to son across several generations.

The Hakvoort shipyard has been the recipient of many industry awards and accolades over the years, with numerous vessels earning recognition for their aesthetic and technical qualities. An enviable list of repeat owners is also testament to the yard’s abilities and industry positioning.

The Hakvoort shipyard can now boast an impressive back catalogue and a global reputation for building exceptional superyachts for generations of yacht owners.

The Hakvoort collection

Hakvoort’s first custom superyacht build came in the guise of TONGA in 1985. This 103-foot (31.35m) motor yacht was designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder Design and was built to Lloyds Classification. TONGA had a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure.

The most recent superyacht to be launched from Hakvoort is the 210-foot (63.7m) SCOUT. SCOUT is the largest yacht in the Hakvoort fleet to date and was delivered in 2019. The superyacht features interior and exterior design by H2 Yacht Design and Diana Yacht Design were responsible for the naval architecture.

In addition to a dedicated owner’s deck, SCOUT accommodates eight guests across four staterooms. The hull has a high bow with cut-down bulwarks to expose the tenders. The exterior design has a trawler-like aesthetic, accentuated by integrated forward-sloping windows. Amongst some of SCOUT’s notable features are a helideck, and an expansive sun deck with a large Jacuzzi.

When considering the Hakvoort fleet, superyachts such as JUST J’s, MIRGAB VI, PERLE BLEUE and APOSTROPHE also deserve a mention.

Royal Hakvoort Shipyard

Family-owned Hakvoort Shipyard builds custom and semi-custom luxury motor yachts in aluminium and steel up to 63 metres in length.

In 1919, Albert Kizn Hakvoort purchased a shipyard on the shore of Ijsselmeer Lake in Monnickendam, The Netherlands, that dated back to 1780. Hakvoort Shipyard started out building fishing boats and then moved on to luxury sailing yachts as demand for them grew. With the rise in popularity of aluminium-and-steel superyachts, Hakvoort successfully transitioned into that market segment as well.

Still operated by the Hakvoort family, the shipyard works with owners and noted designers to produce wholly custom superyacht projects. In addition, Hakvoort Shipyard has collaborated with brokerage firm Moran Yacht & Ship to launch the Hakvoort Semi-Custom Range 55M, designed with a fast displacement hull capable of reaching speeds up to 30 knots.

Notable Yachts

In 2005, Hakvoort Shipyard launched JeMaSa , a 49.99-metre superyacht that was the largest yacht built by the yard to date. She features a “split-level” sundeck designed to accommodate both a Jacuzzi tub and a helipad, and interior styling by Espen Øino, Michela Reverberi and Barbara Barry.

The 38-metre luxury Perle Bleue , launched in 2007, was heralded as the epitome of a displacement megayacht below the 50-metre mark. Her naval architecture is by Diana Yacht Designs and Donald Starkey designed her classic interior.

Hakvoort Shipyard encompasses two climate-controlled halls, a metal shop and a separate joinery facility, Unlimited Interiors, that produces the custom interior furnishings for its new yacht builds. In addition to new superyacht projects, Hakvoort also offers luxury yacht refits and service.

The Dutch shipyard, Hakvoort, builds motor and sailing yachts up to 213ft (65m) in length. They have mastered the entire building process in steel, aluminum and wood from their multi-purpose facilities situated in the historic village of Monnickendam, The Netherlands.

In 1919, Albert Klzn Hakvoort purchased a shipyard in Monnickendam that had launched its first vessel way back in 1780. Hakvoort Shipyard started out building fishing boats, moving into the yacht building niche as the demand for pleasure sailing grew. Hakvoort is one of the few yards remaining in family hands, passed down from father to son on a number of occasions. Likewise, entire families of craftsmen have also worked at Hakvoort for generations, helping create an atmosphere of personal involvement in company and community alike. Albert Sr. once stated ““We’ll never be the biggest yard – but we promise that every boat launched here will be the very best of its kind at the time. Passing down skills and expertise from generation to generation is at the heart of everything we do at this yard”.

The Hakvoort facilities include two enclosed and temperature-controlled docking and construction halls. There is also a metal workshop, a dedicated office complex and a large quayside operation. Furthermore, Unlimited Interiors, Hakvoort’s own joinery workshops with a total area of 2500 m², is located in the town of Purmerend, just a few minutes north of Monnickendam. Here, some 30 dedicated carpenters use their unique eye for detail to create perfect megayacht interiors. Unlimited Interiors also works independently on custom-built interior projects.

Hakvoort yachts exemplify Dutch craftsmanship and expertise with notable yachts such as LADY MARINA, LADY DUVERA, PERLE BLEUE, JEMASA, SNOWBIRD, MIRGAB V and APOSTROPHE. The 130-foot (39.7m) m/y APOSTROPHE won the ShowBoats Exterior Design and Styling award in 2013. In 2008, PERLE BLEUE was finalist for the Neptune Award of Boat International and the Super Yacht Society Award best motoryacht under 40 meter. She won the ShowBoats Award Best full displacement motor yacht under 50 meters. Built by Hakvoort in 2002, and winner of the 2003 Showboats Award and International Superyacht Design Award, SAGAMAR is a carefully conceived and meticulously planned world cruiser. SPADA received the Super Yacht Society Award for Design and Leadership in 1998. She also made headlines for being the first yacht in the world under 40 meters in length to comply with the strict requirements of the MCA. LADY MARINA’s exceptionally stylish interior, created in cooperation with designer Donald Starkey, won the 1994 ShowBoats Award for best motoryacht interior.

In April 2017, Hakvoort Shipyard delivered the 125-foot (38.25m) superyacht SOPRANO to her first-time owners. The largest Hakvoort superyacht built to date, the 200-foot (61m) JUST J’S was delivered in May 2017.

The 39m/127'11" motor yacht 'Saron' (ex. Pretty Woman) was built by Hakvoort in the Netherlands at their Monnickendam shipyard. Her interior is styled by Italian designer design house Michela Reverberi and she was delivered to her owner in July 2010. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Cor D. Rover Design and she was last refitted in 2020.

Saron has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising two VIP cabins and two cabins that can operate as twins or doubles. The supremely spacious full beam master suite incorporates its own study and dressing room. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Her features include beach club, gym, deck jacuzzi, WiFi and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Saron is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18 Dita) 600hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 13 knots with a range of up to 5,500 nautical miles from her 45,001 litre fuel tanks at 9 knots. Saron features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 10,001 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠ 100A1SSC YACHT MONO G6. classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

Accommodations are provided for 12 owners/guests in six staterooms, including an on‐deck owner’s suite with private Lounge. Crew quarters for 9 are arranged in five cabins, including an upper deck Captain’s Cabin.

INTERIOR WALKTHROUGH

Starting at the bow forward are the crew accommodations. Forward port and starboard are four nearly identical crew bunkrooms each with upper and lower berths. Each has a private head with toilet, vanity sink, and stall type shower. Aft of the crew accommodations is

the crew lounge/galley area. All four cabins are outfitted with hanging lockers and built ‐ in drawer storage.

Adjacent to the crew lounge area is access to the laundry center as well as an additional set of stairs leading to the walk‐in refrigerator and walk‐in freezer. There are built‐in storage cabinets throughout this area.

Aft of the crew lounge is a stairwell leading up to the main deck.

The stairwell leading up to the crew main deck entrance is situated on the portside. Forward and outboard is stairwell access to the captain's cabin. Inboard of the foyer is a door to the main galley as well as a service passageway into the main salon area.

The captain's cabin is fitted with a double berth and a large hull side fixed window. There is a built‐in desk workstation, lounge area and a hanging locker. Inboard is a large private head with toilet, vanity sink, and shower. This cabin is well appointed and suitable for a couple.

The galley is finished with Stainless Steel countertops and work surfaces. There is a door out to the port side deck. Aft is a service door to the main salon. There are built‐in dry storage cabinets as well as access to the dumb waiter.

Starting all the way forward on the main deck level is the master suite. The master suite is accessed by a set of glass French doors from the starboard main entrance foyer. Inside the French doors is the master lounge. The lounge is furnished with a settee, built‐in storage cabinets, as well as ample book cases. To starboard there are large fixed hull side windows with electric blinds.

Passing through the lounge leads to the master stateroom suite. The suite is furnished with a king size berth facing aft from the forward bulkhead. To port and starboard are large walk‐in garment lockers, large hull side fixed windows with electric blinds and built in chest of drawers. On the aft bulkhead opposite the berth is an entertainment cabinet featuring a concealed flat screen television.

The master stateroom suite features a large head with double vanity sink, glass enclosed marble shower spa tub, separate toilet room and large hull side windows and electric blinds.

Moving aft of the master suite to the polished stone finished main entrance foyer is a day head with toilet and vanity sink.

The main entrance foyer is accessed by doors out to the starboard side main deck. Inboard from the main entrance foyer are stairways leading up to the sky lounge. Aft is an open passageway into the dining area and main salon.

The main salon and dining area have large fixed windows with electric blinds. There are built‐in polished stone top buffets. Forward is a dining area with formal dining table and seating for 12. Forward to port is a mirrored concealed door leading to the galley service entrance.

The dining area is separated from the common salon by an arched opening with teak pillars on each side.

The salon area is furnished with a sectional‐style sofa, loose armchair, and an oversized upholstered ottoman that doubles as a coffee table. Starboard to the sofa is an occasional table with three leather armchairs. Aft of the occasional table is the Salon AV cabinet, which houses the flat screen television and other AV related components.

The lower guest area is accessed via a curved stairway down from the starboard side salon area. In the port and starboard fore and aft corners of the foyer are entries into five guest staterooms and an additional crew laundry/prep room.

Three of the five guest staterooms feature a queen size berth, the fourth guest stateroom features a twin bed arrangement, and the fifth stateroom features a bunk arrangement with an upper Pullman berth. The four primary staterooms include twin nightstands with reading lamps. 

Underneath each berth are storage drawers. The three queen guest staterooms have a desk with a loose chair. All the staterooms feature large hanging lockers as well as ensuite heads. The four primary staterooms have large marble top vanities with dual sinks, separate enclosed toilet rooms, marble finished showers with bench seats and frameless glass shower doors. The bunkroom

stateroom has a single basin sink with a stall style shower and frameless glass shower door.

The Skylounge is accessed via a curved stairwell located in the main foyer. The lounge features a sectional style sofa to starboard, entertainment center on the forward bulkhead, full bar to port as well as an occasional table with four upholstered armchairs just forward of the bar arrangement. A set of French doors leads to the wheel house as well as the captain's cabin.

EXTERIOR SECTIONS

Forward is a large whirlpool spa surrounded by sun pads. To port is a staircase to the bridge. Amidships is a large, teak dining table with seating for twelve. Outboard of the table is storage and wet bar. Aft on the sundeck are twin, built‐in seating areas outboard on each side and additional chaise lounges for sunning. There are electric and manual awnings for shade, dumb waiter access and side serving bars.

UPPER DECK:

Aft are twin, U‐shaped dining/cocktail areas under the deck overhand with teak tables. Further aft is the tender storage. Forward is the Portuguese walk‐around bridge (all decking is finished in Teak).

The aft main deck features a large seating area that may be used as a dining or lounging area. The passerelle is to starboard and the swim platform access is from the port side. Forward on the main deck is a spacious seating area.
