Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is selling his stunning 158-ft. superyacht   Morning Glory with an $11 million price tag.

The 83-year-old, nicknamed Il Cavaliere , or The Knight, bought the Italian-built Perini Navi ketch in 1999 from media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who first commissioned this navy-hulled beauty in 1985.

Murdoch reportedly married his third wife, Wendy Deng, onboard the yacht in a ceremony in New York Harbor in 1999.

Berlusconi, who according to Forbes magazine was the world’s 190th richest person in 2018 with a net worth of $8 billion, reportedly paid Murdoch roughly $7.2 million for the yacht in 1999.

Since then, many millions of dollars have been lavished on refitting Morning Glory. The updates include installing new 850-hp MAN diesels and new generators in 2010, as well as a comprehensive rebuild in 2016-17, which saw the original white hull repainted dark blue, the flybridge extended, and the entire rigging refitted.

Viareggio-based Perini Navi  is world-renowned for creating yachts that combine beauty, elegance and performance. According to yacht broker Burgess , which holds the coveted listing, Morning Glory has a top speed under power of over 14.5 knots and a transoceanic range of 4,900 nautical miles at 10 knots.

During Berlusconi’s ownership, the yacht has been a regular visitor to the Caribbean, especially Antigua, where the controversial politician and businessman has a vacation home. Summers have usually been spent cruising the French and Italian Rivieras.

With luxury accommodations for up to eight guests in four suites—as one witty commentator said, “be they blonde, brunette or redhead”— Morning Glory comes with unique features, such as a working marble fireplace, formal dining area and spiral staircase.

The full-beam owner’s suite on the lower deck aft comes with a master study, along with separate his and hers bathrooms. The owner and guests are pampered by a crew of eight.

According to the Burgess listing, the yacht is driven by 10,645-square feet of sail area, giving her exciting double-digit sailing performance. With a huge drop-down centerboard, Morning Glory has a maximum draft of 25 feet for stability and speed.

As for octogenarian Berlusconi, he hit the headlines last month for his split from his former partner of 12 years, 34-year old Francesca Pascale. According to the Guardian , he is reportedly now dating 30-year-old Marta Fascina, an MP from his political party.

Nell’agosto di quest’estate è approdato a Capri il megayacht più stravagante del mondo, lungo 118 metri e largo 18, somigliante a un gigantesco ferro da stiro: metà sottomarino e metà navicella spaziale. Il proprietario di questo lussuoso yacht, che si chiama “A” , è un ricchissimo uomo d'affari russo, il miliardario business-man Andrey Melnichenko , che ha voluto dedicare l’imbarcazione alla moglie Alexandra Nikolic imprimendo sulla poppa l’iniziale del suo nome, la "A".

Costruito nel 2008 presso i cantieri tedeschi di Blohm & Voss, il panfilo è stato disegnato dall'architetto francese Philippe Starck e sembra sia costato 150 milioni di euro. Oggi però il suo valore di mercato ammonta a 400 milioni di euro grazie alle innovazioni apportate e agli innumerevoli "extra" aggiunti negli interni. Tra le stranezze presenti sullo yacht si trovano anche diversi quadri di Monet e un serbatoio di dimensioni enormi, che richiede diverse migliaia di euro per ogni rifornimento. I capolavori del maestro Monet, però, non rappresentano gli unici lussi che “A” vanta: nei suoi 118 metri quadrati di superficie, sono presenti anche tre piscine, una master suite , sei suites per gli ospiti, 42 camere e bagni con rubinetti del valore di 40mila euro ciascuno.

Sali a bordo di un lussuoso yacht da Portoscuso, nella Sardegna sud occidentale, per vivere una giornata esclusiva in completo relax.  In base al meteo della giornata e alle preferenze del gruppo, lo skipper farà del suo meglio per accontentare le esigenze di tutti e sceglierà il miglior itinerario per garantire la migliore esperienza. Potrai scoprire l'isola di San Pietro e Carloforte, il Golfo del Leone con imperdibili soste nei pressi di Pan di Zucchero e Masua oppure la costa di Buggerru con la visita della bellissima Cala Domestica, tuffandoti in acque cristalline e dagli alti fondali in cui fare snorkeling. Grazie al tender, sarà possibile avvicinarsi alla costa e fare delle soste direttamente in spiaggia. A bordo verrà servito un aperitivo tipico sardo.

Purtroppo il tour non è agevole per le persone con disabilità motorie.

ITINERARI POSSIBILI

Sarà possibile scegliere l'itinerario in base alla condizioni meteomarine della giornata e alle decisioni dello skipper, con l'obiettivo di accontentare il più possibile le esigenze dei passeggeri. L'itinerario possibile sarà uno tra i seguenti, con possibilità di effettuare più soste per nuotare e fare snorkeling, potendo arrivare direttamente in spiaggia grazie al tender:

• Isola di San Pietro - Carloforte: circunnavigazione dell’isola, con sosta nelle spiaggie più belle, che potranno essere Isola Piana, La Caletta, La Bobba, Girin, Punta Nera, Guidi, Cala Fico, La Conca
• Golfo del Leone - Pan di Zucchero - Masua - Nebida e Porto Flavia, con possibili soste a: Porto Paglia, Sa Punta S'Arena, Plag'e Mesu, Funtanamare, Masua, Porto Flavia, Pan di Zucchero e Portu Banda
• Golfo di Buggerru: possibili soste a Spiaggia San Nicolò, Cala Domestica a Cala Lunga
• Costa Verde: possibili soste a Costa Verde, Portixeddu, Scivu e Cala Is Tramatzus
• Golfo di Sant'Antioco: possibili soste a Le Saline, Nido dei Passeri, Cala Lunga, Cala Tuffi, Cala Sapone, Capo Sperone e Maladroxia

Dall'Olanda sta per arrivare lo yacht più costoso del mondo ed entrerà prestissimo a far parte della già immensa collezione di Jeff Bezos, padrone di Amazon. L'imprenditore, con un patrimonio stimato di circa 121 miliardi di euro.

In realtà, qualcosa di più grande, folle e lussuoso della Koru , l'imbarcazione di proprietà del fondatore di Amazon, esiste. Pangeos, lo yacht a forma di immensa tartaruga della lunghezza di 550 metri però è tutt'ora solo un progetto non diventato realtà, per questo per ora il magnate statunitense deve accontentarsi di un "cucciolo" di 127 metri. "Koru" è un nome che deriva dalla lingua Maori e significa "nuovo inizio" . L'imbarcazione a vela somiglia molto ad un altro esemplare di nave appartenente a Bezos, la famosa "Perla Nera".

Grandissimo e lussuoso

Koru è uno yacht a vela di 127 metri di lunghezza. Il costruttore è l'olandese Oceanco , che ha terminato il suo capolavoro di ingegneria navale proprio in questi giorni. Al 31esimo posto degli yacht più grandi mai costruiti , si compone di tre alberi con scafo in acciaio e sovrastruttura in alluminio. Sarà alimentato dall'energia cinetica generata dalle vele , ma come la maggior parte delle imbarcazioni a vela, avrà anche un motore . 

Koru ha uno scafo marino, una striscia di bagagliaio rossa e una rimessa in legno a doppio ponte. Il suo profilo è caratterizzato da un lungo bompresso e da una classica poppa a canoa che garantisce una maggiore privacy quando lo yacht è in porto. A poppa è visibile anche una grande vasca per le immersioni e un nido di corvo sull'albero di mezzana. Non ci sono per ora dati ufficiali, ma si ritiene che l'altezza dell'albero maestro sia compresa tra 65 e 85 metri .

Lo yacht è stato costruito presso gli stabilimenti Oceanco di Alblasserdam e successivamente trasferito a Rotterdam, dove ha atteso di completare le prove in mare presso il bacino di Eemhaven. Sconosciuto per ora il prezzo, anche se secondo alcune stime dovrebbe aggirarsi intorno ai 500 milioni di euro .

A bareboat charter or demise charter is an arrangement for the chartering or hiring of a ship or boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included as part of the agreement; instead, the people who rent the vessel from the owner are responsible for taking care of such things.
