Fill ‘er Up (With Air): The 6 Best Inflatable Catamarans for Fishing, Fun and Portability
From the wooden rafts of Polynesia to the 60s surf culture of the Hobie Cat, catamarans (or simply cats) have been a fun way to enjoy the local lake, ocean or bay.
That seemingly effortless way they glide across the water is both relaxing and exhilarating. What's not relaxing is lugging a heavy vessel across the sand or investing in an expensive traditional catamaran.
Have you considered an inflatable catamaran? Inflatable catamarans are a less expensive and more portable option to traditional cats. You can even use them as inflatable dinghies and yacht tenders.
The main design of a cat is 3000 years old and influenced by the Polynesian wooden rafts that made long journeys across the Pacific. You don't have to journey across the Pacific (or even the Atlantic) to enjoy the fun, convenience and diversity of catamarans.
Keep reading to discover more about inflatable catamarans and how they might be just what you need for fishing, diving or just cruising around the lake.
What is an Inflatable Catamaran?
With a design based on geometry, just like their traditional non-inflatable counterparts, inflatable catamarans offer stability and smooth sailing due to the wide beam and double- hulled tubes on either side.
This isn't your typical full-size dive/snorkel/sightseeing catamaran you've seen in the local marina. They range in size from eight to 15 or so feet and can be propelled by sails, an outboard engine or a pair of oars.
The unique thing about inflatable catamarans is that they, well, inflate, as well as deflate for storage in a car or on a bigger boat. This also makes it easier to carry to and from the water.
Similar in design to a pontoon boat, inflatable catamarans have actually been called pontoon boats (though they're technically not), along with fishing boats or even inflatable kayak s (which they're really not either).
While they don't have cabins or storage in the tubes like full-size (non-inflatable) cats, they can accommodate anywhere from two to eight passengers depending on size.
Benefits of Inflatable Catamarans
- Lightweight
- Foldable (like a folding kayak )
- Fuel Efficient
- Wide beam for stability
- Small enough to navigate small coves and sandbars
Features of Inflatable Catamarans
Parallel Tubes: Two pontoon-like tunnel-hull tubes, located on either side of the platform, provide stability and flotation. They usually have multiple chambers to make inflation easier.
Wide Beams: Like a traditional cat, this makes it stable for one or multiple passengers whether you're fishing, anchoring out or just cruising around the lake.
Sectional Aluminum Floors: Sturdy aluminum provides a stable surface. Sections make it easier to put together and take apart.
PVC Hulls: The bottoms of inflatable catamarans are usually made out of durable PVC, which helps prevent tension and tearing.
Heat-Welded Seams: Heat welding ensures a sturdy, durable and water-resistant seam that can stand up to saltwater, fresh water and high heat. The high heat factor comes into play if you store it for long periods of time (such as in a garage, shed or attic).
Marine Plywood Transom: Marine plywood is designed especially for wet, humid and marine environments. It makes a strong material to hold a small outboard engine.
Multiple Propulsion Methods: Inflatable catamarans can be operated with outboard engines , sails or oars and paddles .
Uses for an Inflatable Catamaran
- Tender/Dinghy
- Diving/Snorkeling
- Support vessel for watersports such as swimming, kayaking and rowing
Six of the Best Inflatable Catamarans
1. bris 15.4 ft. inflatable boat.
Check price on Amazon
Constructed out of 2000 Denier 1.2mm PVC fabric, this inflatable catamaran is durable and resistant to tearing and tension.
It has sturdy heat-welded seams that are guaranteed to last in saltwater , fresh water and high heat. Reinforced fabric withstands rugged gear like dive tanks and fishing tackle.
A marine plywood transom provides space for an outboard motor (it can handle a 35 HP engine). A deep-V keel with rub-strake protection offers easy planing.
The tube bottoms each have a double layer of fabric that provides protection from sharp rocks, sticks and other debris.
There are five individual chambers, a one-way drain valve with a plug, built-in oarlocks and a strap to secure a gas tank.
It comes with a PVC hull, aluminum floor panels, three aluminum bench seats, two aluminum oars , a carrying bag and a foot pump.
2. BRIS 11 ft. Inflatable Catamaran
If you're looking for a great cat in a smaller size than the 15-foot BRIS, this 11-foot BRIS is a terrific alternative.
The main tubes and floor fabric on this cat are made out of 1100 denier 0.9 mm PVC. The tubes each have two air chambers, and the floor is 80 mm thick.
A marine plywood transom can accommodate an outboard motor. Tube bottoms have two small fins for better direction. Extra wide rub strakes on tube bottoms allow you to pull up on rocks.
It comes with a foot pump, carrying bag, oars and a repair kit.
3. BRIS 9.8 ft. Inflatable Boat
Whether you're diving, snorkeling or fishing, the heavy-duty 1,100 denier 0.9 mm PVC and polyester support provide resistance to tearing, tension and breaking. The sectional aluminum floor is sturdy and has a corrosion-proof platform.
The transom is covered with triangular splash guards to minimize splashing and protect the transom holders from heat and exposure to UV rays. Getting up on a plane is easy via the deep-V keel with rub strake protection.
This inflatable cat has heat-welded seams, separate internal air chambers and a marine plywood transom.
4. Sea Eagle Inflatable FoldCat ProAngler Fishing Boat
Check Price on Amazon
For the fishing enthusiast, the Sea Eagle inflatable cat makes a great alternative to bass boats. Designed for two adults, or 650 pounds, this cat is made of 1000 denier and has quadruple overlap seams, raised oarlocks, rod holders and a motor mount.
Two swivel seats sit up high above the floor, making this cat an excellent choice as a fishing kayak . The casting bar is one of my favorite features for visibility and stability while fishing.
A folding frame provides a stable and rigid floor platform. There are carrying handles at the front and back.
5. Dolphin 8.8 ft. Model SB-270A “ 2021 Inflatable Sports Boat
Sleek and contoured, the Dolphin is my pick for best inflatable catamaran. It has more of a sporty look than some.
Created by nautical engineers to provide rear buoyancy and faster planning, it's made of .9 mm 1100 denier reinforced PVC material, which is UV, oil and puncture resistant. Thick PVC holds 8 PSI and provides a stable air deck floor.
Easily portable, it can be assembled and disassembled in about 10 minutes. It has one front and four rear exterior carrying handles.
It comes with a removable seat bag and cushion, two aluminum oars, a carrying and storage bag and two front towing D-rings.
6. Inflatable 1.2 mm PVC 15 ft. Windsurfing Catamaran
We didn't forget the sailors and Hobie cat enthusiasts in the group. This super cute inflatable catamaran comes with two sails made of 3.8 OZ Dacron.
The PVC tubes are 1.2 mm. Each has an air chamber. It can accommodate four passengers and is easily assembled in about 30 minutes.
It comes with a pump and carrying bag but doesn't include oars or a motor.

Maximize - Safety, portability, and fun!
Minimize - Cost, trailer need, boat weight, draft, and maintenance!
The 12' Saturn Catamaran is a very stable boat with very little drag due to the raised dropstitch floor design which makes it perfectly suited for a small electric motor. It works great with a small outboard motor and cruises at moderate speeds with just a 5 HP electric motor. The marine grade plywood transom is the only non-inflatable component of the boat which makes the ability to use it as a dinghy or transfer boat absolutely prefect. The drop-stitch core floor is rated over 6 psi and is the most rigid inflatable floor we've seen on the inflatable catamaran market. The TRMC365 can act as a stable fishing boat, weekend pleasure cruiser, or as an excellent ship-to-shore tender.
Although the boat is very sleek and stable it is not intended to be a sport racing boat. It was designed for leisure boating activities and does not have sponsors or fiberglass wings as you would find in the similar style XCAT racing boats. Care should be taken when using a gas outboard motor to limit speeds especially in strong wind conditions as the boat could flip if raced or improperly operated. As with any other watercraft, always wear a life jacket and use an outboard lanyard kill switch when going fast.
For increased safety each exterior tube has 2 individual air chambers, a feature that is only common in the highest quality inflatable catamarans and boats. This feature helps to prevent over-inflation or excess pressure build up due to changing air temperature. The extra wide durable rub strake on the bottom of our tubes are extra thick and allow beaching on rocky terrain.
The large diameter tubes provide improved performance and stability and the lowered front bow allows swimmers to quickly get in and out of the water when swimming. The splash plate on the back of the transom minimizes outdoor motor splash and the fins on the bottom help with tracking and directional stability.
- Extremely lightweight, portable, low draft sleek design.
- Quick and easy multi-chamber inflation and deflation.
- Attractive sporty look which will turn heads!
- Extra wide rub strake along tubes bottom.
- Easy planing with a small electric motor.
- High-pressure drop-stitch inflatable airdeck floor (rated over 6 psi).
- Two air chambers per tube for increased safety.
- Durable rub strake protectors along boat tubes.
- 2 small fins for improved directional tracking over competitor products.
- Marine grade plywood transom with 2 drain plugs.
- Included: Repair kit, spare valve, spare adaptor, high pressure hand pump, 3-year warranty, rowing oars, 2 aluminum benches, storage bag and boat manual.
- Outboard motor and other non-listed accessories shown in photos are not included.

TRUE KIT INFLATABLE CATAMARANS
The catamaran advantage.
We strive to keep the weight out of our inflatable catamaran range to make our dinghies manageable by anyone. Carrying and rowing these boats is a breeze, and for our larger designs we have our exclusive QuickLok Dingy Launching Wheels.
Whether you are using your True Kit as a tender and need to pull it onboard the mothership, or your True Kit is the water-going extension of your caravan, keeping it light is critical. The secret is in our thermo-welded seams and superior fabrics, which help us to remove all unnecessary weight from the boat.
All True Kit, our inflatable catamarans are designed to be packed down and travelled with easily. We use the finest German-made fabrics that are flexible and durable to be folded and unfolded again and again.
Because our boats are so portable, they can be launched from more remote areas of lakes and waterways - giving you the best experience on the water.
Experience what we call "stand up stability". The nature of inflatable catamarans means all the buoyancy is on the outside. This provides an incredibly stable platform for stepping in and out of the dinghy.
True Kit inflatable catamaran's have a hull that has significantly less drag than a typical deep-v hull. This efficiency allows owners to have the option to use much smaller, lighter, more affordable outboard engines. You need less horsepower to enjoy a thrilling ride.
This also makes it the perfect boat for a small electric outboard - maximizing the the range and speed.

Testimonials
Easiest boat I have ever bought and staff were excellent and very helpful. Absolutely no problem purchasing from Australia and better than anything I could buy in Australia.
Great looking boat I haven't had the time to use the boat yet, but have assembled and inflated the boat. Compared to the Zodiac Granride MK3, it's a lot lighter, and the inflatable deck is much easier then the zodiacs hard deck to get in place. So just from looking at the TrueKit, i think the quality is up at the zodiac level, and looking forward to try out the boat in the water!
We’ve had our boat for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say we love it. It’s super stable and planes easily. It is super light, so loading it correctly matters, but that is super easy to do.
Discovery 330 has exceeded my expectations after my sea trials and break in of my Yamaha F6. Set up with the supplied hand pump worked well. Spring loaded wheels are a must have. Once inflated inspection of the seams and construction confirmed my research that this is a high quality craft that will provide years of enjoyment. After break in of my Yamaha with one person onboard the F6 pushed her along nicely.

FastCat14™ Catamaran Reviews
Earlier this year, I purchased a SeaEagle 14' FastCat with solar power and an electric motor. After assembling it, I found that niether pontoon would hold water. After a long search, I found there were 4 screw holes on each pontoon as the wrong fishing pole holder screws were installed. Heartbroken, I called SeaEagle and without hesitation, sales mgr Will offered to take the boat back and fix it. I was shocked at his willingness to help out and make my boat what it was meant to be. The boat is now back and working great. I am so grateful for Will and SeaEagle's incredible customer service. And ...I love my boat!
I absolutely love my FastCat 14. It really is a great day boat and fishing boat with plenty of room for all of my gear, friends, coolers, and more. I have it packaged with a Honda 9.9 and it pushes this boat around just fine. Its great being able to get into shallow areas that many boats cannot. When I get to the beach I pull it up on the beach and use it as a day bed. The new bow padding and scotty rod holders make me jealous. Great boat!
This boat has exceeded expectations in every way. It is stable, durable, eye-catching, and very functional. There is so much room on it. I've had many fun outings on it with friends and family. Satisfied owners, on their own, created a Facebook group for those who have already bought one to get the most out of their boats by sharing information with other owners. Prospective buyers have joined to ask questions and learn—most who do get one.
My 3rd inflatable but my first Cat. WAAAY more space and 15% faster with the same 20hp motor. 24 mph Highly recommend.

Takacat T420LX
With oversized tubes and extra wide beam, the Takacat T420LX is perhaps one of the largest truly portable inflatable catamarans on the market. The removable Tube Transom® allows for the boat to be packed down into 2 bags that have a small storage footprint, especially for a boat this large. With its 4 tube chambers and 1 floor chamber, the T420LX provides the safety stats well suited to a wide variety of uses such as flood rescue, duck hunting, fishing, coach and support boats, and dive support boats.
Custom colors available upon request, call for details. All custom colors and materials require additional manufacturing and shipping times.
Why You’ll Love the T420LX
The Takacat T420LX packs all of the innovation of the Takacat LX Series with enough room to bring a party. An extra wide platform and oversized tubes puts the capacity for this boat at an impressive 7 people or 1576 lbs.
Electric or Traditional Propulsion
Inflatable construction and catamaran design keeps the Takacat ultra lightweight. The boat moves efficiently with either a traditional gas or electric outboard in waterways with horsepower limitations.
Quick Assembly
The boat inflates and deflates quickly through two air pressure release valves. Takacat fully assembles in about 15 minutes at the drop in location or can be pre-assembled with optional quick-release wheels and easily transported to water.
Hook and Paw-resistant Materials
Hull tubes are made of heavy-duty 0.9 mm, 1,000 Denier custom made 3-ply PVC reinforced fabric material to resist wear-and-tear. Each tube has under-tube reinforcement layers for extra protection against abrasion, and paw or hook snares.

Q. Why should I pick a Takacat over a conventional inflatable?
A. Most inflatables in the U.S. market are boring. They all look and perform the same. Instead of copying everyone else’s design, we decided to innovate. The Takacat catamaran hull design is fast, stable, safe, and comfortable. The fast draining removable Tube Transom® is simple and portable, which makes Takacat one of the most versatile inflatable boats in the market.
Q. Are Takacats easy to set up?
A. The Takacat line of boats are designed for quick and easy assembly . No need to mess around with heavy and complicated floorboard systems, our high pressure air deck floor fits perfectly in place while it inflates. Inflation with the supplied manual pump takes about 15 minutes, depending on the size of the boat and your urgency. Inflation with an electric pump takes about 8-10 minutes
Q: Are Takacats easy to deflate and pack away?
A. Our innovative, Tube Transom® enables the Takacat hulls to be rolled-up like a swiss cake roll which makes it easier to store & transport than traditional inflatable boats. The big advantage comes by way of weight savings which makes carrying the boat easier, but also makes the boat nimbler on the water and faster with smaller HP outboards.
Q. What is the best way to transport my Takacat?
A. The Takacat LX and Sport Series offer true portability. They can be fully deflated and will fit into most cars and SUVs. They can be transported either inflated or deflated on roof racks. They can be stored easily on boat decks because of their size and weight, they sit flat on deck without the need for a cradle. The LX and Sport models take up very little space when packed in their bags for storage. Takacat LX and Sport models offer an unparalleled experience from storage, transport to on the water, there is no better!
Q. What outboard should I buy for my Takacat?
A. Takacat boats utilize a catamaran hull design, this means that the boats have far less wetted surface and are much more efficient on the water than flat-bottom or V-hull boats. You can use less horsepower than other boats to achieve the same speeds.
Electric outboards are more efficient when used on a Takacat and are a great option.
The most common gas outboard is the 6hp. It is lightweight and portable which completes the package for the Takacat. The longer the boat you choose, the faster it will be and it will be able to plane with more weight. For example, a 420LX with a 6hp will plane with 440 lbs on board.
Stay tuned for our detailed performance data to be released in early 2021.
Q. Do I need to cup my propeller or buy an aftermarket cavitation plate?
A: We recommend cavitation plates for outboards greater than 6hp and less than 20 horsepower. Our dealers carry a wide variety of brands, we have tested and confirm the efficacy of the Permatrim and the Davis Dole-Fin.
We recommend having your propeller cupped if you experience any cavitation or ventilation. Cupping the prop will give the propeller more grip in the water and increase performance.
We recommend PowerTech stainless steel propellers for the best possible performance of your Takacat, although not necessary in most cases.
Q. How do I attach my Takacat to my davits?
A: You can use stainless shackles to attach to the lower transom bar through the holes in the top of the wheel brackets. The bow attachment point can be easily attached by running a lifting line around the floor (before inflation) but between the two under-floor D-rings.
Q. How to tow my Takacat?
A: We recommend towing your Takacat by making a 3 point bridle to the two bow safety line D-rings and the under-floor D-rings.
Q: Where are the Takacat boats designed and manufactured?
A: The Takacat LX, Sport and Explorer models are all designed by Greg Sowden in Aukland New Zealand. The boats are manufactured in Qindao, China by the same boatbuilder since 2007.
Q: Why would I want glued seams instead of welded?
A: Welded seams are great for RIBs as they are cheap and easy to do. They are also easy to replicate on repetitive seams. RIBs are also inflated about 90% of the time.
Takacat boats are typically folded and unfolded hundreds of times in their lifetime. Welded seams will become brittle and start to leak. Welded seams are also not 100% repairable, they can only be patched over.
Glued seams are more flexible over time and can have higher holding power in complex shapes. Our house blend glue is specifically engineered to maintain its flexibility over many years and after extend exposure to UV.
Q: Does the Takacat have any design or build certifications?
A: Yes, All Takacat model boats are CE tested and are CE marked to the latest CE standards 2013/53/EU.
All Takacat boats are also manufactured to International Standards ISO 4892-3:2006.
Q: How do I retube my Takacat?
A: Takacat LX, LX Hybrid and Sport models can be easily retubed by simply constructing your boat with a new set of tubes ordered from your local Takacat dealer!
Q: Should I buy a PVC or Hypalon Takacat?
A: The vast majority of Takacat boats are of the PVC variety. Because most Takacats live not-in-use lives in their bags, there is not real advantage of the Hypalon.
Hypalon comes in handy when you will be in tropics levels of UV and in a year-round type of usage. We mean 100% in the water all the time.
You can still circumvent the need for pricey Hypalon by electing to buy chaps. That will protect the boat skin from UV and even provide a bit more abrasion resistance.
Q: Can I buy an extended warranty?
A: Technical Specs (size, weight, carry capacity etc.), there are several differences between the Takacat models:
- T340LX, T380LX, T420LX and 460LX models include a removable fin that attaches to the air deck floor. This allows the air deck floor to be used as an Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboard (ISUP) Note: this is for leisure and not a high performance paddleboard.
- T380LX, T420LX and 460LX models have two air chambers per tube. All other models have a single air chamber per tube.
- The tube diameter of the T420LX is 22”. All other models have 19” tube diameters.
- The T420LX does not come with oar locks and oars. We provide two paddles, which makes the larger boat easier to maneuver. Additionally, the oars are not in the way of the tubes providing more comfortable seating.
Q: My Takacat needs repairs or replacement parts, what do I do?
A: You should first reach out to your local dealer. Many of our Takacat dealers are also boat repair facilities and would be happy to repair your boat.
If you do not have a local dealer or are located outside of North America, please Contact Us for replacement parts inquiries.
Q: Can I leave my Takacat inflated for long periods of time?
A: Yes you can! We would recommend equipping your Takacat with chaps for UV protection (and to keep the bird poop off) and you may also need to apply Inflatable Bottom Paint (yes, that is a real thing) to contend with any growth in your waters.

HAPPY CAT HURRICANE
Sleek high performance.
It is the fastest, best and most versatile of the Grabner inflatable sports catamarans – and also the largest one! With even larger hulls for more buoyancy and less resistance. With even more place for luggage and equipment. With additional hull struts for stability in strong waves. With speeds of over 16 knots and exceptional sailing characteristics. As good as a hard shell catamaran but can be packed in 3 bags. For regattas, touring and long-distance sailing along the coast and for families with children. Grabner’s top model – with top characteristics!
Small packed
The entire catamaran can be packed in only 3 bags for transport and storage. Two long bags (185 x 30 x 30 cm) and a packing bag (80 x 45 x 28 cm). Suitable for many cars, roof boxes and mobile homes.
Sophisticated hull
Developed through tank testing.
Cut through the waves at maximum speed or experience more buoyancy:
This is ensured by the convex hull bottom, the hulls with a diameter of 54 cm in combination with the Wavepiercer bow and the long waterline of 499 cm! This is the ideal hull shape as it not only allows you to be extremely fast but also protects you from water splashes so that you can enjoy a stable ride with low water resistance.
It is stable and has improved bow and stern buoyancy for extra loads and even more safety. And yet it is fierce like a hurricane!
This inflatable Grabner travel catamaran has been developed and optimised through tank testing and the boat-skin is hand made from strong Grabner car tyre rubber.
Reinforced bow
Two strong braces reinforce the hulls in the bow area. This gives constant rigidity just like a hard shell hull and creates even more speed and less spray.
In a robust frame
The hull and frame are firmly and stably connected by sleeve inserts, while the special square profile frame with angular connectors provides high torsional stability and doesn’t twist.
The trampoline mesh is integratedseamlessly and directly into the profile frame and offers plenty of space for comfortable sitting. A powerful 6 hp-engine can be mounted to the saltwater-resistant anodised aluminium frame to accelerate the inflatable catamaran to a breath taking speed of 25 km/h.
Usable foredeck space
More space.
The crossbar, which is included as standard, stabilises the hulls in the bow area.
The optional foredeck increases the usable area, protects from spray when sailing at a high speed and can also be used to fasten luggage – or to lie and sunbathe on it in relaxing holiday moments or when you feel like lazing in the sun!
Thanks to the fixed crossbar, you can comfortably get into the boat via the foredeck.
Reardeck and auxiliary motor
Camera, drinking bottle, tent.
With the optional reardeck, you can use the stern to store light luggage. This additional space is great for expeditions or for spontaneous access…
No wind? With the optional motor-bracket, you can mount a small auxiliary electric motor onto the rear bar to keep you going when there is no wind, which will not get in the way when sailing.
Deep centreboard
Sailing more altitude.
The hydrodynamically optimised centreboard extends deep into the water to counteract the lateral drift in the best possible way. The inclination is infinitely adjustable so that the centre of pressure by can be optimally trimmed for speed on any course. The robust aluminium centreboard releases automatically when it touches the ground and it can be pulled in completely during landing.
Robust “kick-up” rudder
The “kick-up” rudder is extremely robust thanks to the cast metal rudder head (black). The sleek, hydrodynamically optimised blade extends deep into the water to improve steering control.
Instead of using cable pulls, you can comfortably and directly haul the blade up or down from the tiller, which has two lock-in positions: folded up or lowered down into the water completely. It releases automatically when it touches the ground.
The high-speed rudder, which is shifted to the rear due to the outrigger, provides the best steering control and makes it easy to steer smoothly and steadily.
Ball joint with rotational limiter
For the best trim in any wind condition.
The mast foot ball joint is new and innovative. Even when there is only little wind, the mast rotates easily with the sail and thus improves the overall profile.
With the rotational limiter, the mast rotation can be restricted for light to strong wind conditions and the mainsail can be sailed flat or more bulging.
The practical mast foot joint also makes it easy to right the mast, which can be righted and lowered by just one person.
The professional rig includes:
- Professional four-part profile mast with angular connectors
- Mast profile with generous dimensions for more stability and a consistent sail profile without the mast bending
- Unity of mast and sail, which is retracted directly and flush into the mast
- Double shrouds ensure that the mast bends in a controlled manner to provide you with an optimal sail profile and for peace of mind
- An additional forestay with which the mast can be adjusted independently from the sails and for extra safety.
For all wind conditions
- Always the ideal profile :The fully battened mainsail with a surface area of 8 m² provides the ideal profile – the batten tension can be adapted to a wide range of wind conditions. In light wind, the wide upper ‘Square Head’ sail section provides extra performance.
- Never hit your head again : The modern cut of the catamaran mainsail provides a larger sail surface and creates less turbulence – and since it has no boom, you will never hit your head again. Thick Dacron canvas and large reinforced windows give rigidity and good all-round visibility.
- Tow points for height : The tow points of the 3.50 m² jib are fixed at an ideal position close to the mast in order to be able to sail with more height and to ensure a good foresail profile, even when sailing wind abeam. The comfortable continuous jib furler makes it easy to furl the foresail.
Jib halyard pulley
More tension.
With the jib halyard pulley, you can easily adjust the tension of the rig manually.
Traveller and perfect trim
The best trim for the speediest sailing..
- Per Travelle r: Depending on the course, the tow points of the mainsheet are shifted towards luff or lee using the traveller. No matter if you sail wind abeam, before the wind or close to the wind: The mainsail “twist” is reduced and the performance is increased.
- Per clew plate : Adaptable to the wind conditions, the mainsheet is hooked either further to the front or to the rear so that the mainsail has a bulging or flat profile.
- With ease : Thanks to the 4:1 mainsheet transmission, it is easy to manoeuvre the mainsail by hand – even in stronger wind conditions.

Welded seams become brittle and will start to leak. Additionally, they are not totally repairable as you can only patch them up, which compromises your boat’s quality and performance.
You want to purchase glued seamed boats, which are more flexible and have higher holding power in complex shapes and sizes.
Frequently Asked Question
Yes, you most definitely can, but there are a number of little details you and your team need to remember when leaving it inflated. Equipping your dinghy catamaran with chaps is best to protect it against UV rays and keep off bird poop. Inflatable bottom paint is also one thing to help your boat contend with any growth in your waters.
The best way to store an inflatable catamaran is by deflating it and rolling it up. Store it in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can also use a storage bag to keep it protected while in storage.
Inflatable catamarans can last for a very long time, provided you take good care of them. Your inflatable catamaran can last for many years with proper maintenance and storage.
Inflatable catamarans are just as safe as any other type of boat, provided that you use them properly and follow all safety guidelines. Always wear a life jacket when aboard an inflatable catamaran, and avoid rough waters.
Insider Advice
If there’s one thing you need to remember when purchasing and maneuvering inflatable catamarans, it’s safety. You may want to be the next Laura Dekker or chill out in the water on some days.
No matter what, you need to take California-approved boating safety courses and always have a number of life jackets with you for you and your crew.
Better be on the safe side all the time.

10+ YEARS IN THE MAKING.
MiniCat portable sailboats are a design and engineering marvel that are solely manufactured in the Czech Republic, EU. Their exclusive factory is equipped with the latest technologies and all of their boats are held to a rigorous quality control process before they are shipped.
Thirteen years ago a young enthusiastic Czech sailor, Matin Horak, had an idea to create a sailboat that would be easy to transport, would be affordable, and would be able to be sailed by both new and experienced sailors alike.
The MiniCat Story
Fueled with this idea and passion, Martin would begin to design and prototype his first iterations of this portable sailboat. After two years of testing, MiniCat was ready to hit the market. Thirteen years later, it’s sold all over the world and is still considered to be best in its class—selling over 200 boats a year. MiniCat is sold only through 20 distributors worldwide with Red Beard Sailing being one of them.
Our close relationship with the manufacturer has awarded us the privilege of being able to carry our own Red Beard Exclusive model, the MiniCat 420 Carbon.

Advantages A lot bigger than the other 'standard' inflatable that I have, and also faster. Seems very well built. more Disadvantages A standard-shaft OB motor will not work with this raft. It will cavitate, no matter how far you trim down. I'm using a 1980 Johnson 9.9. So I will either have to find a long-shaft OB motor, or may possibly notch the transom a few inches (Discussing with the manufacturer). more Comment A lot bigger than the other 'standard' inflatable that I have, and also faster. Administrator reply Thank you for your feedback and the great pictures. The new 2023 Saturn Triton catamarans are indeed larger and of greater quality than our prior models, and we appreciate you noticing that. While the transom is custom designed for a short shaft motor, it is possible that certain motors/brands may not perform as well as others. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to help resolve the motor performance.
Comment Steve..just sent you some pics today before the big snow fall tonight...made lifting bridles from new tow straps so they lift from under the tubes worked out great! Cheers Tim Wrangell AK (These photos are now shown on product page) more
Comment I bought this for carrying lumber to remote building sites in Alaska, it's light enough to use the main Halyard to lift it out of the water and place on top of my boat. I will be doing a whole video on YouTube this spring. Steve Susten has delivered on time..as quoted every time....Great Inflatables! more

10 Best Inflatable Catamarans To Buy In 2024
What Are Inflatable Catamaran Sailboats?
Catamarans are easily spotted by being water vessels consisting of 2 parallel hulls (of equal size), connected together by a frame. With a priority on smooth sailing and stability, Inflatable Catamarans are your holiday go to option as they can be driven by engines, sails or a pair of oars.
Oars are used for rowing, and they’re connected to the water vessel via oarlocks or designated pivot points. The difference between a pair of oars and paddles is that paddles are held by the paddlers when propelling the vessel, while oars are connected to watercraft via oarlocks.
With so much to see and do during the holidays and at your leisure, you sure wouldn’t want to miss out on your scheduled adventurous activities. Inflatable catamarans give you the option to go where bigger catamarans/boats would prefer not to, due to sizing and sometimes distance. Take a dive into our top 10 picks for the best kayaking GPSs on the market.
Inflatable catamaran dinghies are geometry stabilized water vessels that derive their stability from their wide beams. They’re unique in size, as their typical size range is between 8 – 14 feet (∼ 244 – 427 cm). The inflatable catamaran could get slightly larger depending on the specific purpose for which it was created.
They are used for a host of different purposes, of which some include: relaxation & picnicking, sporting, diving/snorkeling, fishing, marine research, and search and rescue. Before we proceed any further, even though inflatable catamarans have excellent maneuverability and are relatively stable, always ensure you’ve got a life vest, or if you’re with the crew, life vests .
Also of important note is, if you’re inexperienced, you shouldn’t try doing this on your own. It’s advisable you have an experienced individual with you before heading out, it’s better safe than sorry.
In addition to inflatable catamarans being very portable and lightweight, they provide a lot of comfort alongside fun. Some important accessories to have handy with your inflatable dinghies or catamarans include anchors, foot pumps, storage covers, oars (or paddles), cart with wheels (for ease of transport from and to the target water location).
Don’t forget to check out our Kayaking Near Me Interactive Map for finding the best kayaking locations near you, and of course our Fishing Near Me Interactive Map as well.
Benefits of Inflatable Catamaran Dinghies

Innovative inflatable catamarans + kayak
Removable floor
It's hard to ignore the portability and comfort aspect of our fully removable inflatable floor system. Extremely rigid when inflated (10 psi), "standing on board is no problem", and both easy and quick to deflate and store for transport or storage. This is a big advantage over inflatable boats, which have a built-in floor or RIB, which can both hold water.
PVC or TPU (welded seams without plasticisers)
As standard, the boats are made of quality 5-Layer PVC (0,9mm - 1000 denier - 1100g/m²) fabric from SIJIATEX, which has a very strong UV protection. Optional boats are also available in TPU (1,2mm - welded seams without plasticisers). The 10PSI high pressure floor, including the additional 1mm thick PVC protective coating, is made exclusively of PVC with DropStitch technology. TPU is more abrasion-resistant than PVC and Hypalon/CSM, rafting boats or boats for extreme operating conditions (-70°C to +80°C) are made from TPU, for example. In contrast to PVC, TPU hoses do not contain any plasticisers, i.e. the welded seams remain supple even after welding and can withstand higher pressures than glued Hypalon/CSM seams.
Takacat-SPORT 260S to 380S closed bow + open transom
Takacat-LX 260LX to 420LX open bow + open transom
- 260LX = 90 x 35 x 35cm
- 300LX = 110 x 35 x 35cm
- 340LX = 120 x 35 x 35cm
- 380LX = 130 x 35 x 35cm
- 420LX = 140 x 40 x 40cm
- 460LX = 160 x 40 x 40cm (Length / Width / Height)
- 100 x 40 x 30cm (Length / Width / Height)
Takacat - Takayak-395
Catamarans are much more tilt-resistant than monohulls, and this also applies to kayaks. Since TAKACAT exclusively develops boats in catamaran design, it was logical that the new kayak from TAKACAT will also be a catamaran => Takayak-395
Generous continuous load area
The number 395 describes the overall length of the Takayak. But much more interesting is the usable length of the inner high-pressure floor of 370cm, with a continuous width of 42cm. So the Takayak offers plenty of loading space for 2 people with luggage, parents with children or for one/two people with one or more dogs.
29cm drive hoses with protective strips on the undersides
The two driving hoses with their 29cm diameter are well proportioned for a maximum load of 260Kg and are powerfully supported by the large-surface high-pressure floor. The lower connecting floor between the two drive hoses additionally protects the inner high-pressure floor in case of ground contact and during landing.
10PSI "Drop-Stitch" high pressure floor
The 8cm thick high-pressure floor can be inflated with an operating pressure of up to 10PSI = 689mbar thanks to its drop-stitch technology. This creates a stable loading platform and shields the entire seating and loading area from the water surface.
3 air chambers + safety overpressure valves
Each driving hose is equipped with a Halkey-Roberts valve at the stern and an overpressure safety valve at the bow. Accidental over-pumping of the tubes is therefore impossible and harmful pressure increases due to strong sunlight are also avoided. The Takayak-395 has a total of 3 independent large-volume air chambers.
One-seam design + 5-layer PVC fabric skin
One-seam design means that each tube is made from a single piece of skin. The tubes have only one longitudinal seam on the outside, which is additionally covered with a resistant 1mm thick protective strip and thus doubly secured. At the bow and stern, the so-called bumpers (end pieces) are then glued in, also double-secured. The One-Seam design reduces the number of seams and seam intersections by over 50% compared to half-shell production and thus significantly reduces the possibility of possible leaks in the seam areas. The 5-ply fabric-reinforced PVC skin with 0.9mm thickness and 1000 dtex meets the standard of quality inflatable boats. Optionally, the Takayak-395 can also be manufactured in 1mm Hypalon/CSM.
Open bow and stern
The open bow and stern create a forced bilge. Water that penetrates the Takayak-395, e.g. due to an overflowing wave or heavy rain, immediately escapes again; no bilge valve can realise such a bilge capability. Another advantage is that it is easy to return out of the water. No time-consuming safety and re-entry training is necessary.
Mobile in a bag
The Takayak-395, together with the high pressure floor, the two paddles, the two kayak seats and the hand air pump can be stowed in a transport bag. The transport bag measures 120 x 40 x 40cm (length/width/height). The driving hoses and the high-pressure floor together weigh 20Kg, the completely parked carrying bag with all accessories weighs approx. 24Kg, depending on the model of the hand pump.
Assembly - quick and uncomplicated
Setting up the Takayak-395 is quick and uncomplicated:
- Unroll the drive hoses and inflate to 250mbar (3.6PSI) at the stern using the Halkey-Roberts valves.
- Insert the high-pressure floor, fix it to the underbody at the bow and stern using the tension straps and inflate to 689mbar (10PSI).
- Insert the seats and tighten them using the side D-rings.
- Assemble the paddles and adjust them to your personal style.
And the Takayak-395 is ready to go out. Depending on the number of people and the load, one or two seats can be clipped in.
Electric Engine connected with a FinBox adapter
Thanks to the straight-through connecting floor between the two tubes, the Takayak-395/300 offers the possibility of e.g. gluing a slide-in fin box from down against the connecting floor and thus using an electric motor as a supporting drive aid. There are many manufacturers on the market who offer slide-in electric motors with FinBox adapters, e.g. Vaquita from ePropulsion, the Scupajet from Austria or the new E-Finn from JAYKAY in Germany. The course is then steered with the help of the paddle. Depending on the drive, speeds of up to 10Km/h can be achieved.
Kayaking redesigned - Takayak-395 - the redesigned kayak from Takacat offers advantages for all those who do not want to do without comfort and unique functionality when kayaking. As a catamaran, a stable position in the water, a ride as if on two rails, boarding and disembarking via the open bow is effortless, even out of the water back into the kayak, plenty of space for dogs and luggage travelling with you and a unique forced bilge.
Permatrim - Hydrofoil
- Elimination of ventilation problems (air gaps)
- Improved behavior in harsh waters
- Faster transition to the slip phase
- Slip speed reduction
- Reduced fuel consumption
- Reduced rocking behavior
Takacat LXHD-Series - Heavy Duty Rescue Boats
The Takacat models 340LX-HD, 380LX-HD, 420LX-HD and 460LX-HD are available as heavy-duty versions for water rescue and other operations under difficult conditions. An ideal rapid intervention boat (SEB) for the fire brigade, water rescue and police. Due to their low immersion depth, TAKACAT catamaran inflatable boats are ideal for shallow water operations. The open bow makes it much easier to transfer people into the boat. The same applies to rescue divers and lifeguards. The open transom guarantees that the Takacats never fill up. Any water that is taken over flows straight back out of the boat.
In the heavy-duty version, the Takacats are made of 1.2mm/1450 weight RESC (red/dark blue) thick PVC fabric, alternatively 1.5mm/1750 weight MIL (black) thick PVC fabric or alternatively 1mm Hypalon/CSM. The top of the both tubes is double reinforced with a wide strip of PVC skin to protect against heavy uniforms.
The heavy-duty high-pressure floor has a full-surface and all-round PVC protective coating with an additional layer on the top (2mm) so that the boat can be walked on with heavy footwear without any problems and carrying heavy equipment is no problem.
The heavy-duty transom, made of 2mm stainless steel square tube plus 50mm thick PE1000 transom plates with additional stainless steel reinforcement, can be fitted with a maximum of a 15 or 20hp outboard motor, depending on the model. Thanks to the open bow, a transfer from the water into the boat can be carried out much more easily than with inflatable boats with a bow bulge. Divers can also return to the boat more easily. The open transom allows water that inevitably flows into the boat during a rescue operation to run off again immediately, and the same applies to wave action and heavy rain.
Due to the catamaran construction, the Takacat can also be used for ice rescue in winter, the same applies to the heavy-duty high-pressure floor. Optionally, a GRP floor can be used instead of the high-pressure floor.
The Takacat catamaran inflatable boats of the "Heavy-Duty" LX series are custom-made, i.e. special customer requests can be included in the production.
Takacat - LXRIB - RIB Catamaran with Aluminium Floor
Takacat-LXRIB - The special advantages of inflatable boats, rigid hull boats and catamarans are combined in the LXRIB from Takacat to create an interesting solution. A combination of hydrodynamic and aredynamic influences allow the Takacat LXRIB to float over the water instead of cutting through it, resulting in decent planing characteristics when using compact outboards and good fuel efficiency ..... Videos
With its large centre floor and integrated bow platform (460LXR) with anchor locker, the Takacat LXRIB offers more space than other inflatable boats in this size range.
Due to its catamaran-specific stability and gliding behaviour, the Takacat LXRIB is a very good boat for multiple uses such as diving, fishing, camping, water skiing and tubing. The robust Takacat LXRIB is also a very good choice as a safety and support boat for all types of water sports and for boat hire.
TPU (1.2mm - welded seams) is the standard material for the LXR tubes. In the marine environment, boats are constantly exposed to scratches and scrapes on rough surfaces such as sharp rocks. When designing RIB tubes, it is of utmost importance that they can withstand the extreme conditions. Here too, TPU offers advantages over CSM/Hypalon for inflatable boats. TPU is much more abrasion resistant than CSM/Hypalon. This is one of the main reasons why the US space agency NASA uses TPU instead of CSM coatings for most of its textile applications.
RIBs, and especially Extreme RIBs used as military and commercial sea rescue boats, are often used in harsh weather conditions. These include both scorching and sub-zero temperatures. It is vital that the coating of the hoses can withstand these extreme conditions. High temperatures are detrimental to some textile coatings as they increase oxidation of the coating and the underlying fabric. Low temperatures, on the other hand, can cause many materials to lose their flexibility and tear or fail. Both temperature extremes generally affect CSM coatings more than TPU coatings. TPU generally retains its performance properties at temperatures from -50°C to +70°C, meaning that Takacat-LXR can be used from the Arctic to the Caribbean.
The interesting points summarised:

Takacat 460LXRIB - Aluminium Floor
Takacat 340LXRIB - Aluminium Floor
The new LXRIB from Takacat combines the aerodynamic design of the LX series with a robust connecting floor made of marine aluminium. The 340LXR will make its world debut at BOOT 2024 in Düsseldorf . The 340LXR and the 460LXR are currently available. Depending on the model, the LXRIB can be motorised with 50 hp. The LXRIB series has been consistently developed with recyclability in mind, i.e. the RIB floor is made of marine aluminium and the welded tubes are made of TPU. TPU can be welded like PVC but has no plasticisers that can evaporate, i.e. it remains elastic even after the seams have been welded. In addition, the softening temperature of TPU is considerably higher than that of PVC, which is a plus for hot regions and when the boat is transported on the davits. Unlike PVC, TPU can be recycled and is compostable. The LXRIB is optionally available with a bow stowage box. The 340LXR weighs 65kg and the 460LXR weighs 105kg. For a RIB, these values can be described as lightweight.
As an option, the LXRIB models can also be equipped with bench consoles, jockey seats and combination consoles, see examples above. Aluminium equipment carriers and electric jack plates are available as further options.

Best Inflatable Catamaran And Sailboat Picks In 2022 Reviews
Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or simply enjoy having to fight the wind to move around the water, inflatable catamaran sailboats are the thing for you. You can go by yourself if you enjoy your ‘me’ time, or even take your friends or family with you to spend the day sailing around the coast.
This article will let you in on inflatable sailboats and inflatable catamarans, explain what they can be used for and give you some examples of best inflatable sailboats on the market. Those products are chosen based on their specifications and user reviews.
Introduction To Inflatable Catamarans
Are inflatable catamaran sailboats safe.
Unlike traditional boats and similar inflatable boats, inflatable catamarans do not have any physical obstacle to prevent going overboard. There is also the risk of capsizing, so if you’re not comfortable and confident enough, you should not get one of these.
What Can I Use A Blow-Up Catamaran For?
Most people use inflatable sailboats for sailing and leisure. Most are made so that you can attach a motor or even row if there is no wind to push you forward. Inflatable sailing catamarans can also be used as tenders for larger boats and ships.
Where Can I Get An Inflatable Sailboat?
As you will see, this article will provide you with links for the example blow-up sailboats presented in the article. All of the mentioned can be found on Amazon.com, but if you look further you’ll also find them on other websites and specialized stores.
What Are Inflatable Catamaran Boats Made Of?
As science developed, so did the technology surrounding the making of any inflatable vessel. Nowadays, they’re usually made from PVC which can resist UV rays and endure rough conditions. Some manufacturers even use aluminum to give extra strength to their inflatable catamarans.

Additional options
V-SHAPE BOW HULLS
Floats with shaped stems have more streamline form that enhances their hydrodynamics. In practice catamaran with such floats has softer sailing and better speeds comparing to standard floats due to lower frontal resistance. This advantage is easily noticeable when sailing sharp courses against a short steep wave. These floats are recommended for achieving higher speeds and better results, especially if you plan to attend regattas.
The gennaker is an additional sail for downwind sailing including crosswind and close reach. When the fresh wind blows, the catamaran with gennaker can reach planing mode and increases speed significantly. This is recommended for people who are already experienced in sailing and would like to achieve higher speeds.
OUTBOARD MOTOR BRACKET
Outboard bracket is aimed for mounting a boat motor with a long shaft. The recommended engine output is 4.0 hp.
TILLER EXTENSION
Tiller extension is aimed for steering tiller at a distance. This is a useful option which enables you to relocate the weight on the trampoline and follow the correct trim (loading of the stern or bow) of the catamaran.
SIDE POCKETS
Side pockets are designed for keeping small things, clothes and other stuff. Standard oars can be kept there as well. Pockets are made from a micro-net fabric. Pockets can be placed on the right and left broadsides which in turn also creates additional protection from wind and water splashes.
The float on a mast is an inflatable tank. It would not allow the catamaran to turn the mast down. Such a float will hold a catamaran on one side when catamaran is turned over and will not let it fully capsize. It won’t allow the mast to sink and hit the bottom and would prevent possible damages to the mast. The float on a mast has an aerodynamic shape. When needed, it is easily mounted and unmounted without using any tools. Floats are equipped with the fasteners.
SAIL FEEDER
Sail feeder is a useful option that significantly simplifies mainsail ascent. It directs the bolt rope into the mast track and eliminates the jamming of the sail during the ascent.
PARKING AWNING
The parking awning protects catamaran from the sun, rainfall, dust and dirt.
NUMBER ON A SAIL
Number on a sail from a self-adhesive polyester fabric. A standard height of symbol is 300 mm. Adding your logo on the sail is also possible.

Lanai Snorkel Tours FAQ
How do you get to lanai.
All Lanai snorkel tours depart from Maui. Most of them depart from Ma’alaea Harbor in Central Maui. Click for directions to Ma’alaea Harbor . Other Lanai snorkel tours can depart from Mala Ramp and Ka’anapali Beach, both are in West Maui. See below for details on what tour departs from what location(s).
Lanai is six miles west of Lahaina, across the Au’au Channel off Maui’s leeward coast. You can get there a few different ways, whether you choose to arrive by sea or air. The most popular option is to take the Expeditions Ferry straight from Ma’alaea Harbor on Maui. This ferry service runs three round trips daily, every day of the week, leaving from Ma’alaea Harbor on Maui and arriving at Manele Harbor on Lanai.
If you decide to fly, Mokulele Airlines serves Lanai from several destinations around Hawaii. Flights leave from Maui, the Big Island, and Oahu. You’ll find direct flights to Lanai from Honolulu and two locations on Maui (Kahului and Kapalua). You can also reach Lanai from cities including Hilo and mainland US destinations like San Francisco with a layover. The only Hawaiian island that Mokulele doesn’t serve is Kauai.
If you book a room at either of the Four Seasons Resorts on Lanai, you will be treated to a private jet flight from Honolulu. Check out the Four Seasons Resort Lanai near Hulopo’e Beach and the Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort in Lanai City.
Do Lanai snorkel tours go on the island?
Yes! A few Lanai snorkel tours allow visitors to step foot on the island as they have a special license. If you’re eager to get out and walk around, book with Trilogy Excursions or Sail Maui , who both stop in the stunning Hulopo’e Bay to snorkel. You’ll have the opportunity to snorkel at your leisure, sunbathe in the sand, or hike to the nearby tidepools.
What should you expect on a Lanai snorkel tour?
Lanai is a beautiful spot for snorkeling in Hawaii! There’s a reason these tours leave Maui’s leeward coast and sail across the Au’au Channel — snorkeling on Lanai is just that epic.
Picture pristine reefs, crystal clear water, Hawaiian spinner dolphins jumping through the boat’s wake, and colorful marine life just below the water’s surface. Each tour has its favorite snorkel spots, picked based on weather and ocean conditions, including visibility, so you’ll have the best experience possible.
Most tours visit the south and southwest coast of the island, snorkeling near Manele Harbor. Some popular snorkeling spots around Lanai include Hulopo’e Bay, Sweetheart Rock, and Dinosaurs, a bit further north.
Is Lanai or Molokini Crater better for snorkeling?
Ask a local whether Lanai or Molokini is a better snorkeling destination, and you might have a battle royale on your hands!
Our opinion after snorkeling along both islands’ shores? Lanai is superior to Molokini when it comes to the best snorkeling . You have excellent snorkeling from different locations around Lanai, including Hulopo’e Bay, and a (very) good chance to see spinner dolphins and sea turtles along the way.
We enjoy Molokini Crater also and for us, it is splitting hairs. One has a better chance of seeing spinner dolphins on the way to Lanai than Molokini. Also, sea turtles do not visit Molokini Crater. Hence, many snorkel tours, like this one , go to Turtle Town after Molokini Crater.
We cast no shade on visiting Molokini Crater! We have snorkeled there many times hence we share our favorite Molokini Crater snorkeling tours here . We find Lana’i snorkle tours to be a unique experience as few visitors have the chance to visit this island.

How long is the boat ride to Lanai from Maui?
The ferry from Ma’alaea Harbor on Maui to Manale on Lanai takes 75-minutes.
You can reach the island even more quickly if you sign up for the Ultimate Whale Watch & Snorkel power raft trip , which makes the journey across the Au’au Channel in 45 to 60 minutes. However, they’ll typically slow down if the Hawaiian spinner dolphins are around!
Some luxury catamaran companies, like Sail Maui, make the crossing in about 90 minutes. Although the crossing is a bit longer, most people prone to seasickness have better luck on larger vessels like catamarans.

The Best Lanai Snorkel Tours
There are many Lanai snorkel tours, so it can be challenging to know which one is right for your group. We’ve narrowed your choices down to these six based on our personal experiences with these companies and what makes them unique in what they offer.
1. Ultimate Whale Watch and Snorkel
What could be more fun than cruising through the waves on a power raft, racing Hawaiian spinner dolphins along the way? Getting to do that and visiting Lanai’s best snorkeling spots!
Ultimate Whale Watch and Snorkel departs twice daily from the Mala Boat Ramp in Lahaina, Maui . Both a 4-hour tour and a 6-hour tour are offered, depending on how much time you have. The 4-hour tour leaves at 9 am and arrives back around 1 pm, while the 6-hour tour leaves at 8 am and lands back in Lahaina at 2 pm. Breakfast, a snack, and drinks are included on the shorter tour, with breakfast and lunch included on the longer option.
No matter which Lanai snorkel tour you choose, all of your snorkeling gear will be provided . We opted for the 6-hour tour and loved the entire experience! The longer the tour, the more snorkel spots you’ll get to visit, including more remote locations. Because this tour is via power raft, you’ll also have a smaller group size , which is always nice.
Their snorkeling tours are great for both beginners and old pros. A marine naturalist will also be on board to answer your burning wildlife questions and use a hydrophone to hear dolphin and whale songs. Dolphins are sighted on 9 out of 10 of their trips, while whales are likely to be spotted during their migration from December to April.

Snorkel around the bay to your heart’s content , but there will be other fun activities too! The crew will get a fun game of beach volleyball, or you can opt to hike Pu’u Pehe Rock and swim in the nearby tidepools. SNUBA is also available if you’re willing to up the ante.
Breakfast, lunch, non-alcoholic drinks, and two alcoholic drinks are all included in the ticket price. The onboard dining is where this trip shines, starting with Mama Coon’s signature cinnamon rolls and tropical fruit and ending with a BBQ lunch of Kiawe-wood grilled chicken, stir fry soba noodles, and more mouth-watering sides. Of course, their onsite bar also serves up delicious drinks and cocktails for the return trip, including the special Lanai’ Tai.
There are two departure locations, Ma’alaea Harbor and Ka’anapali Beach , which gives you a little more flexibility as they’re about a 30-minute drive from each other on Maui’s leeward side. These 8-hour tours leave at 6:30 am and 10 am from Ma’alaea Harbor and 7 am and 10:30 am from Ka’anapali Beach.
All of your snorkeling gear and reef-safe sunscreen are included, along with floatation devices. There is no age limit on this excursion. This might be the best choice if you’re looking for a bit more of a luxury experience versus an adventure!

For 4 hours, you’ll snorkel your heart out along Lanai’s coast, stopping at one to two spots along the way that are optimal considering the day’s ocean and weather conditions. Top-of-the-line snorkel gear and floatation devices are provided. This Lanai snorkel tour option is only suitable for children ages 5 and up.
5. Ka’anapali Ocean Adventures
The only snorkel tour that completely circumnavigates the island of Lana i, Ka’anapali Ocean Adventures offers Lanai snorkel tour hopefuls a unique experience. Kick off your trip with a slice of adventure, making your way to the main snorkel boat, Sanity, by a hard-bottom inflatable raft. Tours leave at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and arrive back around 11:30 a.m .
Snacks, including chips, fruit, pastries, and drinks are included, along with all your snorkeling gear, floatation devices, and boogie boards.
