Ran from Lake Superior to Halifax May/June of 2011, then Halifax to Ireland. Went up the west side of Ireland then to Scotland. Wintered the boat in Ardfern, Scotland.

Re: Brewer 44 vs Mason 44. Yes, the engine is in the bilge and changing the impeller is a pain. But at 18deg of heel, small craft warning mean good sailing for a both boats. The boat yard did an excellent job on the stainless and woodwork. I have never seen stainless as well polished on any other boat.
Re: Mason 44. I grew up cruising on a 43. We still own sea castle hull #1, she is berthed in Berkeley ca. They are great boats, I have a few issues with them compared to our hans but none are real deal breakers. You have to like sailing heeled over, lots of sail area so reef early with that huge boom!
